Meet my brother Valentino, 2 years older than me! Growing up with Val taught me the importance of compassion, forgiveness & how to love even when people tried to hurt. He showed me how to laugh more, dance more, sing more & watch every single sport on TV! Val taught me to never give up, to fight for what was right despite what others said or thought. I learned how to give whole heartedly & how to put myself in other people’s shoes. 40 plus years ago it was a very different time, when people openly humiliated and hurt. Even though many thought he was a “burden” to be institutionalized, I knew full well I was learning more from him than he from me, that he was just like me, but more special. I couldn’t understand why people saw dis-ability when I saw ability. May all those mothers, fathers, siblings, grandparents, guardians, relatives, friends and workers be blessed with the greatest joys in life and may you always find strength to support and advocate for those most in need in our world. Thank you mom & dad for giving all you could, making your way here as immigrants with no education and no resources. Thank you to everyone who stood by us through thick and thin 🙏🏼🌟❤️ @meta_centre #loveunconditionally #wdsd #leavenoonebehind #downsyndromeisbeautiful
