A few days ago we met the small city of Balkh (Afghanistan) by suggestion of @ali.yaser.jafari We have drawn the fantastic geometry on the photo of Bing Maps. It´s of radial plant, the inner circle is a small bosquete with the mosque. We think it may be from the beginning of
the 21st century, but if anyone has more data we would appreciate it if you share them. (@ali.yaser.jafari do you know what year it was planned or built?) Just North are the ruins of the walled enclosure (sensibly circular too) of the ancient city (Balkh or Bactra), visited by Marco

Passing by a few churches reminded me of the way places of worship are playing a key role in addressing challenges in affordable housing. Today, many churches are working closely with not-for-profit builders to build housing on their properties. The gardens 🌿 were created in the 17th century, but became public grounds only at the end of the 19th century. in 1911, Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier (the #landscape artist behind the Champs de Mars in Paris, you know the ones below the Eiffel Tower) started rearranging the gardens into their present shapes. Followed then, in 1914, by the architect Aníbal Gonzalez when he began his work on the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929 and the Plaza de España. The park is the place were the expo actually took place (the plaza was the back office). .
You can clearly see the French influences, in the broad promenades, but the centre of the park was designed as a '#Moorish#paradise ' with a half mile of tiled #fountains ⛲️ , pavilions, ponds and benches. There are lush plantings of #palms 🌴, #orange trees 🍊, Mediterranean pines and exotic #flowers 🌺. The park serves as a #botanicalGarden but is also home to many birds - especially a large population of of white doves 🕊 (#palomas ) and even
even #parakeets 🐦 soaring freely in the treetops. .
In terms of #Architecture - the most beautiful building is definitely the The Mudejar Pavilion, now the Museum of Arts and Traditions. But I also loved the little square dedicated to Cervantes (and the story of #DonQuixote told in the tiles on the benches).

Пишу пост под впечатлением, поэтому могу быть довольно резким и опрометчивым в высказываниях.
Попалось на глаза сегодня это фото. Это двор, в котором я вырос. Центр города. Если быть точным, двор начинается за этими мусорными баками. Я не на шутку ужаснулся. Возможно я отвык от подобного, чистота и слаженность работы ЖЭКа Кракова надвинула на мои глаза более европейскую картинку бытия и на самом деле это вполне типичная картина для украинских городов после зимы, и нечему тут удивляться.
Лозунг «Україна це Європа» очень размыт и относителен. Мне всегда приведут в пример Грецию, которая имеет проблемы похуже, Южную Италию и Францию с её гетто. Патриотический оптимизм порождает гордые высказывания типа: «у нас ещё все хорошо, по сравнению с ними». Нужно равняться на другие показатели и учитывать кучу факторов.
Идя по такой улице, как на фото, тебе не лезет в голову радость от того, что внешний долг Греции больше, чем у Украины. На таких улицах чувствуешь себя просто помойной собакой. В чем проблема? ЖЕК опять оказался не готов к тому, что снег растает? Страшный ветер каждый февраль разносит мусор и уборщики не успевают все убирать?
Все мы понимаем судьбу маленьких постсоветских городов, градообразующие предприятия которых давно канули в лету. В таких городах лучше уже вряд ли будет. Управление городом сложный процесс, и многое ещё зависит от области. В области нет денег - экономим на всём, и при этом умудряемся еще и распилить остатки. Это ужасно, но, судя по поведению области, городу проще дожить своё существование чем начать развиваться. «Критикуешь - предлагай»
Письма во всевозможные органы не работают. Самим убирать мусор - это как вообще. Можно сделать как в Европе: выделить одноразово деньги на переоборудование мусорных участков в крытые помещения с баками на колёсах или замена контейнеров, на открытых участках, на закрывающиеся со специально педалью для открывания. Второй вариант не менее дорогостоящий, потому что нуждается в новых мусоровозах.
Если у кого есть идеи более простого выхода из ситуации, интересно будет узнать.

Пишу пост под впечатлением, поэтому могу быть довольно резким и опрометчивым в высказываниях. Попалось на глаза сегодня это фото. Это двор, в котором я вырос. Центр города. Если быть точным, двор начинается за этими мусорными баками. Я не на шутку ужаснулся. Возможно я отвык от подобного, чистота и слаженность работы ЖЭКа Кракова надвинула на мои глаза более европейскую картинку бытия и на самом деле это вполне типичная картина для украинских городов после зимы, и нечему тут удивляться. Лозунг «Україна це Європа» очень размыт и относителен. Мне всегда приведут в пример Грецию, которая имеет проблемы похуже, Южную Италию и Францию с её гетто. Патриотический оптимизм порождает гордые высказывания типа: «у нас ещё все хорошо, по сравнению с ними». Нужно равняться на другие показатели и учитывать кучу факторов. Идя по такой улице, как на фото, тебе не лезет в голову радость от того, что внешний долг Греции больше, чем у Украины. На таких улицах чувствуешь себя просто помойной собакой. В чем проблема? ЖЕК опять оказался не готов к тому, что снег растает? Страшный ветер каждый февраль разносит мусор и уборщики не успевают все убирать? Все мы понимаем судьбу маленьких постсоветских городов, градообразующие предприятия которых давно канули в лету. В таких городах лучше уже вряд ли будет. Управление городом сложный процесс, и многое ещё зависит от области. В области нет денег - экономим на всём, и при этом умудряемся еще и распилить остатки. Это ужасно, но, судя по поведению области, городу проще дожить своё существование чем начать развиваться. «Критикуешь - предлагай» Письма во всевозможные органы не работают. Самим убирать мусор - это как вообще. Можно сделать как в Европе: выделить одноразово деньги на переоборудование мусорных участков в крытые помещения с баками на колёсах или замена контейнеров, на открытых участках, на закрывающиеся со специально педалью для открывания. Второй вариант не менее дорогостоящий, потому что нуждается в новых мусоровозах. Если у кого есть идеи более простого выхода из ситуации, интересно будет узнать.
