****RESCUE BALM ALERT*** 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 Got up early this morning and poured a big batch of ~rescue balm~. I am doing a very careful tempering of the oils and butters as lip balm and hand balm can tend to get bumps or grittiness when pouring, and transporting in cold weather. Shea butter has a melting point of 110° and mango has a melting point of 89°. Beeswax is around 145°. It is very tricky to get things melted to the correct temp for the right amount of time for all of the fats to melt. I have started doing a very careful tempering and quick cool before the final melt and pour. In winter it is trickier with the cold temperatures. If you do happen to get a balm that is bumpy, just slowly zap in in the microwave until melted, cool in the frig and it will be silky smooth! Most people do not put butters in their balms due to the risk of this happening, but I believe that the benefits of nut and fruit butters are well worth the risk. If you watch closely, you'll see the "frozen spoon test"... My labels should arrive Monday so you should be able to get your hands on this amazing balm next week! Remember I am heading out of town on Wednesday so if you want to place an order, email me and I can get it shipped Tuesday. During those ten days I will be incommunicado until I get back to my workshop. I will have roughly 100 3 oz eco friendly tubes ready and with many pre-orders, make sure you get yours reserved! Rescue Balm is going for $8.00 per tube.
