Photo by Jennifer Renwick 📸 : I have returned to Death Valley National Park for the next three months. It's always good to be back in Southern California. We kicked off our series of DV photography workshops with a wonderful workshop of clients last week! We are looking forward to our next workshop in a few days, as we have teamed up with the Death Valley Natural History Association for a photography workshop, "Death Valley Through Your Eyes." It's always wonderful to collaborate with other organizations, especially one that leads amazing educational tours and seminars in one of our favorite places on Earth. We will be mainly here in the valley for most of the winter, but we will also be visiting Anza-Borrego in Janary for a workshop. We also plan to break our stay here up with a February winter visit to Yellowstone and Jackson Hole with some photog friends, and a visit or two to the SoCal coast for dolphins and ocean photography.
This is a new image from the dunes here. Death Valley and I have quite a history together, one that I hope to write about someday. Coming back here year after year is like visiting an old friend. The familiarity of the lines and curves of the dunes embrace me each year in a hug of comfort.

Un día perfecto para hacer trekking... El único detalle fue no poder ver los acantilados ni el mar jajaja, pero bueno, son detalles, ya habrá otra ocasión de volver... Para llegar al Muelle de las almas, tienes que hacer una caminata de aproximadamente 40 minutos a paso relajado... Es un lugar muy bello y tranquilo 🖼️

Love isn’t an emotion or a feeling. It’s an action. It’s a choice. One you make every single day. The truth is there aren’t always going to be good days when it comes to love - at least the type of love that perseveres through the waves of life. There will be hard moments, difficult seasons and trials that will test your will.

But isn’t that the love that’s worth it? Isn’t that the love you can trust? How amazing is it when we find a person in this world that will see all of us - the broken mess that we know deep down inside that we are - and will say, “I love you and will never stop, no matter what.”

Karisa and I try to be that for each other in our relationship as best we can. It’s what we strive for, like any relationship should. Sometimes we’re successful and sometimes we’re failures. But the third person pictured in this photo never is a failure. His love always abounds. It’s the love we all strive to obtain in our lives - a love that exceeds understanding and shows its face in the most unlikely places.

Jesus looked at us when we betrayed Him and said, “You’re still worth it to me. Because of my great love for you, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE ENOUGH.” Romans 5:8.

I don’t know how you guys look at your significant others, but my love for Karisa and her love for me is not the greatest love in our lives. That love will fail both of us. More times than we’d probably like or expect. But God’s love never will. IT HAS NEVER CHANGED. AND IT NEVER WILL. Amen to the unfathomably perfect love our Savior. Amen to my soulmate and future wife @karisa_petrucci. I love you so much sweetheart.
