Who else is pained seeing 'healthy' or 'clean' tags against posts containing animal products? .
These totally lack essential nutrients, are carcinogenic and inflammatory and are directly linked to heart disease and cancer which are our biggest killers, not just in America but here in the West too.
What makes more sense to you, nutrient dense fruits and vegetables that heal the body, reduce inflammation, combat oxidative/exercise induced stress and also fight disease, or foods which literally do the opposite?
This is one of my favvvv dinners. Posted before but here's the recipe:
Pulse cauliflower or chop into small pieces
Fry onion, once golden add cauliflower for 10-12 mins or until loses shape / turns golden
Add garlic for 30 secs
Pour in x2 tins of tomatoes, 1/2 cup red lentils, 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar, 1 tsp sugar, thyme, basil, oregano, crushed red pepper / flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix.
Place the lid on top and bring the sauce to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer with the lid on for about 30 minutes.
Put pasta on (I used organic brown rice spaghetti here) & remove sauce lid and cook for an additional 15 mins or until the cauliflower is soft and lentils are broken down. The sauce should be thick. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Top with dairy free cheese.
Shoving a fridge load of vegetables & fruit into a blender with pomegranate juice and pulsing the shit out of it is the easiest way for me to smash my vitamin intake and give me a huge energy boost. My tastebuds have definitely changed since I've gone vegan and I happily blend up everything and anything that I've got laying around. ~
Alternatively there are heaps of delicious recipes online and here on insta if you're looking for something especially tasty!
#mozzarisella on English muffins with cucumber, lettuce & salt&pepper is my new favourite snack. ☺
In all seriousness, there is absolutely nothing healthy about consuming animal products, ESPECIALLY dairy which is the perfect food source to turn a baby calf into a full grown 1000kg COW. The extensive list of adverse health effects from consuming baby calf growth fluid is terrifying in itself. Not to mention the amount of PUSS legally allowed in each cup or the mindblowing cruelty inflicted onto the animals to obtain it. Happily, we can now simply reach for cruelty free alternatives such as the above, which taste no different, arent much more expensive if you shop around and won't lead to irreversible or expensive health complications in the future. #ditchdairy#dairyisscary#yourenotababycowbro
In the words of one of the greatest activists of our time @earthlinged "Our existence on this planet is only temporary, but the world that we leave behind will define the future and will outlive us and last forever.
When future generations ask you "what did you do", you can say you stood on the right side of history.
The fight ahead will not be easy, the corporations and industries we are up against will not go down without a fight, but they will not win because with all their power, money and political influence we have one thing they will never have, THE TRUTH.
Now is the time, we fight for the planet, we fight for the animals and we never back down until all the animals are free.
So I ask you, what will you do now, tomorrow and the next day to change the world and save the animals?" Artwork by my incredibly talented other half 💚
Tried these new #viana veggie cowgirl steaks with some roasted turnips, capsicum/ pepper, celery, carrots, onion & kale with a side of wedges. ~
With more protein than animal flesh at 31g per 100g and none of that nasty shit, this is the future people!
Going to roll wIth Richard Bransons latest predictions that we will be eating plant based within the next 30 years, seeing the use of animal products being wiped out within my lifetime would be the dream and with products like this using no palm oil, minimal land use & environmentally friendly, no nasties (verified GMO free and organic) and obvs cholesterol & cruelty free, I can't see why society wouldn't get behind this. ~
Change is coming, time to decide which side of history you'd like to stand on and vote with your dollar! 💚✊🏽🌱
Been so excited to post this vegan mac n cheese post 😋😍 @avirtualvegan has designed a pure genius recipe which you can grab from the link in her bio.
As you can see from my pics I hit a devastating blow when I left the steamed cauliflower and sweet potatoes outside to cool and totally forgot about them until everything else was in the oven. Despite having to mash it in half way through cooking, (destroying my crispy breadcrumbs 😥) this turned out exceptionally well and I will 💯 be making this again.
Thank you Melanie for creating my new favourite meal 💚👌🙏
One of the easiest meals I've ever made. 🥗
Blended the last of my fresh basil (1 cup) with 1 cup of kale, 1/4 cup almonds, 1/4 cup cashews, 3 garlic cloves and a drizzle of the new basil olive oil I picked up from the markets. 🥗
Mixed together with some sliced cherry tomatoes & cooked fusilli pasta, tho you can use the vegetable pasta to make it GF or to up your nutrients 💚👌
Juices (if you can call blending up a tonne of random fruit & veg a juice?) are up there with my favourite things. 🍇🍈🍉🍊🍋🍍🍎🍐🍓🥕 ~
I've never been fussy with what I put in so they taste a bit cray cray at times but my tastebuds have definitely adjusted and I CRAVE these so much when I haven't made one in a while. 🍇🍈🍉🍊🍋🍍🍎🍐🍓
This one contains carrot, pear, apple, ginger, lemon, orange, strawberries, aloe vera, papaya (including seeds), cucumber, flax & chia seeds with pomegranate juice & water. (Forgot the spinach & kale, sad times) I like to use half of each so I can make one the next day too.
Behold. Zuchinni balls & pasta.
This was surprisingly good (if you like garlic!) and easy to make.
Whiz up a can of drained chick peas, 3 cloves garlic, 1/2 cup oats, stir in dried herbs, salt, nutritional yeast, 1/2 a lemon juice and 1 cup of shredded zucchini. Roll into balls & bake until lightly brown! I served with rice & corn pasta and a tomato sauce.
Will definitely fine tune the recipe, maybe adding a onion, and make it again.
Loooong overdue haul from #marrickvillemarkets today.
Picked up everything that's not on the left & packaged for just over $50 which is incredible considering its all organic! Picked up the rest from @taste.organic on my way home.
SO excited to not be a junk food vegan for a while and get stuck in to all this goodness, already made a delightful juice, will upload pics soon along with some super exciting news on my new venture!
FINALLY tried 'Reuben's vegan brother Steve' from Shift 😍 #lookatthoselayers
Love love LOVE @shifteatery who are currently propelling Sydney's vegan movement into another dimension. 🙏💞
@sundinesbackpack had her first Shift experience & got 'Join the Club' (peaking out in the background) which didn't disappoint. We both got the Green Machines, so pretty, healthy & delish, swipe right to see 👀💚
There is something so incredibly powerful and moving about this photo. ❤✊🏽 #bethechange
Repost @jamesaspey 37 animals rescued from death row. 39 activists arrested during an act of civil disobedience.
Massive respect to the @directactioneverywhere crew! It was such an incredibly powerful and inspiring action! 37 lives were saved!
See how it all went down. The vid is linked in my bio ✊🏽
Shepherds pie with @funkyfields_official mince is another game changer!
Threw in a bunch of veg I needed using up and topped with bio life shreds once it was done. Used about 1/4 of the mince as the dish I used is quite small - it could of done with a bit more but excited to whip up one of my old favourites and no baby lambs were harmed in the process 💚🌱 #shepherdlesspie
