Hey daydreamers,⠀
⠀
I am really sorry for the delay with this episode – the last few weeks were a bit intense and hectic and I really missed podcasting! I think the wait was totally worth it though because I interviewed my friend @janellehardyart , who was an absolutely dream to talk to! Here are some of the things we shared about:⠀
⠀
🌿Weaving story telling, body work and visual art into transformative healing⠀
🌿Personal Mythmaking as a tool for insight and empowerment⠀
🌿Her group program and how she helps people write their own memoir with ease through looking at myths and fairy tales⠀
🌿Podcasting as a way to build community and have meaningful conversations⠀
🌿What embodiment means to Janelle (her words really touched me!)⠀
🌿How we can unlearn body hate and restrictive movement patterns⠀
🌿Emotional body awareness⠀
⠀
Janelle Hardy is a healer, single mother and artist. Her work is driven by the belief that when we tap into the power of our creativity, our bodies and our vibrancy, we gain vitality, courage and strength. We reclaim our wholeness and sense of purpose and identity.⠀
⠀
She works with women who long to feel like enough, and know it’s possible. She combines 12+ years as a hands-on bodyworker with a background in Anthropology, Dance and the visual arts to offer one-on-one sessions as well as leading private healing retreats and The Art of Personal Mythmaking (a transformational memoir-writing course that facilitates healing, growth and joy.)⠀
⠀
Find all of the links in the show notes through the Daydreaming Wolves podcast link in my profile!⠀

Hi! The Herbal Academy is offering a free course about becoming a herbalist at the moment. ⠀
⠀
I have studied with them in the last two years and really liked how they are presenting, explaining and exploring things. The materials are beautifully designed and you get to learn as much as you can in your home. ⠀
⠀
The free link in my profile is an affiliate link - so if you end up buying something after checking the free course out I would receive a small percentage of that. Though of course you are welcome to just do the free course! ⠀

Remember that original quote from Kate Moss? It shaped my youth pretty hard. But truly, acceptance for ALL bodies is delicious and joyful and sexy and smart and healing.

In the midst of peak overwhelm I decided to get a rocking chair and enter middle age early while at the same time indulging in my teenage dreams. Queers are timeless and good at breaking rules like that.

This book made my indoor cat weekend so much better - it's about women who have done outrageous things later in life. I wish there was an edition for queers of course, but I also appreciate the diversity of stories in this one. ⠀
⠀
It feels so hard to imagine the future sometimes, with global warming and a housing crisis and social services crumbling. It feels hard to dream and not be swept away by anxiety. ⠀
⠀
But yeah, this really helped. So many cool stories about unlikely and liberating stuff happening against the odds. It's nice to think of life as a book with many chapters.

This week I was allowed to get on the bus without properly showing my ticket three times. I also got into the swimming pool at the Hilton for free because the MoveGB app didn‘t open. That‘s just one of many examples of white privilege and how we are benefiting from it everyday. I know awareness is really just a first step, but I think its important that we talk about this stuff and get other white people to think about race constructively. I know I didn‘t always do this and needed people to kindly shake me up a bit.

I received a reading from my guest @moonbymoonapothecary that left me feeling truly seen, more confident and empowered to untie some knots I had been playing with for years. I love her take on everyday magic and the way she works with plants, sounds and essences. Here is what we talked about:⠀
⠀
🌱Seeking magic out as a child⠀
🌱The morning as a sweet altar space for the rest of the day⠀
🌱Re-enchanting ordinary life⠀
🌱The magic of experimental sound collage⠀
🌱Falling in love with flower essences⠀
🌱Choosing a tarot card for the year⠀
⠀
Chanelle A. Bergeron is a flower essence practitioner & an intuitive herbalist who weaves her knowledge of midwifery, astrology, tarot, & mysticism into her healing practice. When she is not in the apothecary, you will find her making improvised & atmospheric sound-collage music under the name of mille, dreaming of the water, and writing poems. She currently resides in Raleigh, NC with her brilliant partner, Minori Sanchiz-Fung.⠀

"SOMEBODY GIVE ME A BEAT BECAUSE I'M ABOUT TO SLAY SOME DIET CULTURE. The picture above is a billboard in Times Square advertising appetite suppressant lollipops from the shitshow of a company, Flat Tummy Co. You might also be familiar with their popular detox (read: laxative) teas that they promote to impressionable young people all over social media.⠀
⠀
But this time it's lollipops. A product primarily consumed by children. Being suggested as a substitute for food. And endorsed by the most famous faces in the world. Oh btw, they're also not FDA approved AND the only study conducted on their effectiveness was paid for by the manufacturer of the key ingredient #conflictofinterest.⠀
⠀
On a busy day 460,000 people go through Times Square. That's half a million people DAILY being sold the idea that eating when you're hungry is wrong, and that sucking on an overpriced lollipop will suppress your appetite (spoiler alert: it won't) and get you a flat tummy! Babes, it's so easy! It's also SO FUCKED UP.⠀
⠀
Hunger is not the enemy. Eating is not a sin. And having a fucking flat stomach is NOT the be all and end all of your existence. Flat Tummy Co, stop selling us disordered eating patterns for profit. Stop abusing our body insecurities to make bank. Just stop. Oh, and also stop calling us babes every 2 seconds, it's patronising af." 💜💙💚🌈🌞 #suckit #flattummyco #bodypositivity #bodyacceptance #bodyliberation

Super dream babe and real life friend @Amykuretsky interviewed me for her Health fuels Hustle podcast, which you might enjoy listening to!⠀
⠀
We talked about why the word healer is so complex and how we related to it, what it's like to run two businesses and find ways of making your work more accessible, getting shit done when you'd like to just sit in front of your altar all day and creating rituals that feel good. ⠀
⠀
Amy's work is really cool and there are many other groovy people talking about dreamy stuff on her podcast. If you like Daydreaming Wolves, you will probably like this one too! ⠀

Here to make more soft bodied, hairy queer babes feel cute in bikinis cause that only took me like 32 years to achieve. ⠀
⠀
Special thanks to @bodyposipanda for helping me to learn to see beauty everywhere, to @shooglet for making the art I needed to see and to @christyharrison for debunking #dietculture myths that blew my mind. ⠀
⠀
Thanks to the Food Psych podcast I am much more able to say goodbye fatphobia disguised as health concerns and to enjoy my body exactly as it is <3 ⠀
⠀
Fun fact: Billie, a razor company made major headlines today by showing women actually removing hair in their ads. Let that sink in? How sad that this kind of stuff is big news since we usually only see already hairless women in hair removal ads. Clearly body hair is too shameful to show? ⠀
⠀
Come join us in becoming free, it's super sweet over here. ⠀

I've had a really beautiful creative unblocking + embodiment session with @janellehardyart on Friday and am still integrating what it means to work openly and positively with creative jealousy and to utilize bodywork more when I feel stuck. Was also supported by zine dreambabe @lettersfrommars on Saturday and created a little thing I will share soon. Feeling lucky to know so many amazing practitioners who each bring so much richness and insight to the table! ⠀
⠀
Something I´ve been feeling a bit jealous about is the beautiful platform Tavi Gevinson created around Rookie Mag at such a young age. I love so many artists that have been amplified through Rookie over the years and from what I can tell they have prioritized marginalised voices and built a community for and by teenagers that makes a big difference. ⠀
⠀
Rookie on love is a beautiful book I´ve been inhaling lately and it feels good at the moment to revisit teenage culture a bit, this time with more experience and resources. I started dating and working so young at eleven and in some ways feel I missed out on carefree, summery fun and exploration a bit at that time. ⠀
⠀
As a culture I think we ask so much of teenagers, put a ton of pressure on them and at the same time don't really value their perspectives much. It seems interesting also that we often talk about inner child work, but not so much about inner teenager work. Maybe because for many of us that time was just too hard, maybe because it's so awkward or maybe because we view childhood as somehow more "pure" or "innocent"? ⠀
⠀
Either way, I am into this book and will be reading more Rookie Mag again. ⠀

"Thank you all you beautiful and amazing people 💖💖💖⠀
⠀
It's so frustrating to see media present this issue as a binary divide between cis women and trans women. It positions cis women as defending "women's safety" and trans women as somehow a threat to that. This discourse implies that trans women are not really women. Most outlets don't think its appropriate to include perspectives of people who want to exclude lesbian and bisexual women from women's spaces and its telling that they make that distinction for trans women no matter whether they are gay or straight.⠀
⠀
I can't express just how much I appreciate seeing cis women come out to explicitly and publicly challenge the inherent transmisogyny in this discourse by stating that we are women and thus not a threat any more than any other woman may be.⠀
⠀
It makes the whole thing fall flat on its face. If the divide isn't between cis women and trans women, it becomes a divide between transphobes and decent human beings. Suddenly the real issue is made visible. No longer can it be hidden under the guise of feminism and "women's issues."⠀
⠀
What kind of feminism would target a vulnerable group of women and incite social hatred against them? What kind of feminism tries to reduce women to their reproductive organs? Don't they see the blatant misogyny of their own arguments?⠀
⠀
And these definitions get more and more problematic as they try to create a set of biological markers that define a woman. It sets a standard that:⠀
⠀
a) excludes many cis women from the definition of a woman (think hysterectomy or intersex women who are still cis) ;⠀
⠀
b) creates conditions where people can start using biological determinism to explain patriarchy as a natural phenomenon (which is exactly what we've been trying to get away from!);⠀

I am deeply disturbed and sad about what happened at London Pride today and would really appreciate you reading this and doing what you can to educate your communities!⠀
⠀
A group of hateful, transphobic people not initially cleared to march were allowed to hijack and then lead the march, to spread transphobic leaflets and to parade trans exclusive banners. ⠀
⠀
PinkNews initially reported that "Pride was hijacked by a PROTEST" which is...honestly I have no words...incredibly ironic seeing as Pride IS a protest and one that was initially started by trans women of colour. Let that sink in. ⠀
⠀
To clarify: TERFs are trans-exclusive feminists that should have no place in queer or LGBTQA+ communities. ⠀
⠀
It's not really news that many pride marches around the world are increasly white washed, commercialised and inaccessible parades that do little for our communities, but this is a new level of harm that causes not just upset, but violence and death. We cannot tolerate this kind of hate and exclusion in any way, ever. ⠀

It‘s so heartbreaking so think about what kind of message this sends to trans people, especially young ones. ⠀
No matter how big or small your instagram account is - please speak up, especially if you are running women's groups. It's super easy to adjust your language and make it clear that you understand trans women are women and that you welcome them in your spaces. ⠀
⠀
Talk to your kids, talk to teachers, talk to your neighbours, talk to your family, talk to your followers. Support smaller, community led events that nurture all of us. ⠀
⠀
Please don't just show up at a Pride march as a straight person because you want to party. ⠀
⠀
Thanks for listening. ⠀

I love this from @frances_cannon 🌿Have finally managed to unpack the rest, clean and redecorate yesterday (my home gets rented out for longer when I am away) and it feels so nice. This week I met an older women who makes lots of art, has a cheeky gin sometimes and lives like a sovereign queen in a nice house with a big garden and my whole body was like YES this is what I want to be like when I grow old. Safe introvert spaces, doing creative work and having birdies come visit - the dream! #introvertdreams

I don't often share my food cause it can so easily go into "holier than thou" "wellness" territory, but wanted to talk about what I like doing during harder weeks when food prep can feel stressful. ⠀
⠀
I cover a handful of dried nettles with boiling water and leave it overnight - then I try having that liter before noon to get a good start on nutrients and hydration. For breakfast I just soak oats and a mix of nuts so that I can add some fruit in the morning. And I add roses on top for sensory pleasure and extra sparkle. ⠀
⠀
Waking up to everything ready felt super nice this morning cause I have a mean cold and all my little joints hurt (okay you got me, I only made this whole post so I can whinge a bit because living alone and working for yourself when you're sick is hard).

Just had my first talking therapy session and am feeling pretty proud. Was assigned a really great therapist, cried pretty much through the whole thing and then ate my feelings after. All in all considering this a great success tbh. Also, it felt like she thought I am probably not beyond repair which was great and made me realize that thats such a powerful thing to do for someone - just witnessing them and holding the potential of their growth close.
