While their #businessclass leaves much to be desired, #BritishAirways now operates the only nonstop flight to Europe from San Jose. And I'm not going to bitch too much because I booked a dirt cheap premium economy fare and upgraded to J using Avios. A good value for flatbed transatlantic travel on a newish #787dreamliner . 😎
November in Positano with perfect 22 degree weather. Although the beach is fairly empty the town itself still feels busy and cramped while walking the streets. I would not want to experience this place in high season.
My favorite villages on the #AmalfiCoast are not near the sea. I strongly suggest renting a car and exploring what the mountains have to offer. #Ravello is a good place to start but in my opinion the higher, and more remote, the better!
While hiking the God's trail along the #amalficoast we stumbled on this former 16th century monastery that's now a #farmstay . Lovely family, incredible views, and they produce their own wines from those vines behind me!
With ominous Mt Vesuvius behind me, I wander the world's largest #archeological site/excavation. It's hard to imagine this city was covered in 20 feet of volcanic ash for over 1500 years! But because of this the Pompeii ruins are so well preserved it's as if they were frozen in time!
#Michaelangelo was not even a painter when he was commissioned with creating one of the most famous frescoes on earth. A good reminder that... "the greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it."
Checking the smallest country in the world off my list. ✔️At just .44 square km the Vatican is more than 4x smaller than #2 Monaco. The crowds are insane! For the best experience, I suggest you buy tickets online and visit Tuesday - Friday (not Monday like I did). Despite it being less crowded than weekends Monday is still quite busy as most other museums are closed.
