So, making that big block for a tiled print (see previous post) meant I have two quarter circles. Made a sketch on one - and cut it out. Finally got to test my @wood_zilla press. But only with stamp pad, I didn't bother inking it up properly.
Not too happy with the result, but ok as an exercise. It was cut with just a quick sketch on the lino, no real consideration for line thickness or pos/neg space. I guess I should do the same with the other quarter circle, and plan more thoroughly. I can do better than this, but the important thing here is that it was fun. And I kind of like the design, with apples and apple blossoms.
The problem with neuropathy: Yesterday I thought I had a piece of grit in my shoe, and shook it out. So I figured the dull pain in my foot was just a left over from that. However it was still there today, so I looked under my foot. Looked just like a small cut, for instance from a sharp piece of grit. Got my magnifying glass, just to be sure, and discovered a rather sizeable splinter. Thankfully I felt the deep pain from the infection, but I did not feel the splinter before it got infected. Oops. If this neuropathy keeps developing, how long before I won't feel an infection?
This is a wake up call. I know all too well what can result from undiscovered and untreated infections (gangrene and thus amputation), and I don't want that! Checking my feet regularly seems like a good habit to develop. Do I need to do it daily, or is Sun and Wed enough?
I can haz new bike! 😁 An electric bike from Kalkhoff. I haven't had a bike in years, ever since the tyres on my old bike died one winter, and now with increasing neuropathy and weak legs it hasn't been high on the list. An electric bike otoh, that's something else! Got it today (from the best little bike shop ever! @heltskruddsykkel ) and had to take a trip to the bridge and back. Must be five years since I managed to get that far without a car - at least! I was completely worn out afterwards, but it was worth it. Great fun!
Holidaying is exhausting! Great fun, but I don't have energy for anything else. I always bring sketchbook, pen and pencil, but could just as well not bother. But I bought some new sepia pens at @boesner_de in Düsseldorf so I had to do a test sketch... Back home now, so hopefully I can get back into creating soon.
#boesner#iwanttohaveanartstorelikethatwhereilive#holidaymalaise#f *ckMS #ferieerslitsomt#MSernoedritt#somethingisbetterthannothing#noeerbedreenningenting
We enjoyed a lovely morning with tea by the small carp dam, and then walked through the gardens, and the campsite. Gosh, I wish we'd found this place when the kids were small. B&B de Torenvalk comes highly recommended!
