My last meal of the night.

Although the morning was cool, it eventually warmed up.

I wasn't feeling up to cooking anything and figured a tuna salad was in order!

To garnish, I sprinkled some Trader Joe's Everything But the Bagel Seasoning.

It hit the spot and it filled up my macros for the day! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘ My latest fave is the fresh Chipotle sauce that I picked up in the fresh produce section of @naturespickins I've got the habanero one too, it's a titch too hot for me.

If you're wondering why the mayo is yellow, it's homemade using duck eggs. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Meal prepping when I'm out and about, is important for success!

It's been pretty standard with me as it's freaking fast to cook!

200g regular ground beef
50g cut up zucchini
1 tbs sour cream
2 tsp Dijon mustard
Salt & Pepper to taste

1. Brown ground beef in pan (about 5 minutes), remove meat.

2. Sautรฉ zucchini in beef fat until slightly brown. (about 2-3 minutes) 
3. Add beef back in, sour cream and Dijon. Toss together, season with salt and pepper.

All done!

When it takes less than 15 minutes to cook, I make it in the morning while I'm drinking my fatty coffee while watching the live replay of @ketosavage & @crystallovefit.fka

Easy peasy!! ๐Ÿ˜„

Now one question I've gotten is how do I eat it. I have gotten used to eating it cold. It's so much easier to eat and less greasy. For some it grosses them out but um....usually when you have butter... like on bread rolls, in the before keto time...it was soft but solid. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I just took a little time out of my day to go to Cultas Lake to have lunch and people watch ๐Ÿ˜„. It's so nice out, not too hot and a fabulous breeze!

Being in #dsk and only allowed 10g TOTAL carbs, every single carb is precious. ๐Ÿค— Having one serving of smoked almonds and I've spent half my carb allotment for the day ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Now take the same serving of pili nuts and it's only 1g carb๐Ÿ’ƒplus 21.7g FAT! When my fat macros currently sits at 139g, I need all the help I can get! ๐Ÿ™„

Wahoooo! Thanks to the great folks at @eatpilinuts for all the pili nut goodness! (This isn't all mine...honest! ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคฃ) . . I love smokehouse almonds to snack on. A 28g serving is: 168 calories 4.9g carbs 15.8g fat 5.9g protein 3g fiber . . Pili Nuts, a 28g serving is 199 calories 1g carbs 21.7g fat 3g protein 1g fiber Being in #dsk  and only allowed 10g TOTAL carbs, every single carb is precious. ๐Ÿค— Having one serving of smoked almonds and I've spent half my carb allotment for the day ๐Ÿ˜ญ . Now take the same serving of pili nuts and it's only 1g carb๐Ÿ’ƒplus 21.7g FAT! I came across a post by @snackcellar showing 3 pizzas by @questnutrition now...since going DSK since April 23rd, my head has kinda been in the sand because hey...if I shouldn't have it, then why should I torment myself!

But! I usually see what the new buzz is about and I hadn't seen nor heard this was coming at all.

I know that @questketo had closed their keto specific line of meals about a year ago.

There's 3 thin crust pizzas: 4 cheese, uncured pepperoni and Supreme.

Macros differ between the pizzas, but it generally looks like for 1/2 pizza (156g) serving...
340 calories
21g fat
24g carbs
18g fiber
28g protein 
Sooooo that's 6g net carb, protein is 28g to 21g fat so add in a ranch dipping sauce and you'll be set!

Now looking at the ingredients things that caught my eye on first glance: soluble corn fiber, dextrin in the celery juice which is in the uncured pepperoni ๐Ÿ™„, high oleic (monosaturated) sunflower oil, palm oil (which is fine for keto but there's a question regarding sustainability of palm oil) and whey protein isolate.

Soluble corn fiber is what Quest uses in their protein bars. (to make it...enzymes work away at the easily digestable carbohydrates and after 48 hours what's left is the undigestable carbohydrates aka fiber.) There's been a few studies with soluble corn fiber that Dr. Lowery @ryanplowery discusses on Ketogenic.com @ketogeniccom 
For the most part, it's seems ok for most but if you find yourself sensitive to it from Quest Bars, then good chance this isn't for you.

If you're an keto IIFYM kinda person this may totally up your alley. I wonder how it compares to the Real Good Pizza (which I haven't tried). The price? From the Quest website they come in 6's for $65.94 US for one flavour, which works out to be $5.50 per serving. I don't see a variety pack. (I know nothing about Canadian availability)

Going dsk has changed my perspective on many foods and I love the way I feel so I can't see myself trying this anytime soon.

But I can kinda see it scratching a McCain frozen pizza itch!

I have a bunch of cream that's expiring really soon! Like um, yesterday! ๐Ÿ˜ณ I know it will be fine for a few more days ๐Ÿ˜‰ but I've got a few litres of it.

@fatismyspiritanimal posted about this a long while ago and much cream wasted later from me (so much for those sales) before I FINALLY remembered this!!! The ice cube tray slot holds just about a tablespoon so it's perfect for macro counting while on #dsk. The smaller ones in my bonbon mold are about a teaspoon (I didn't wait long enough before taking those out). I will weigh them just before I use them to make sure ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm sure a few of you are asking about consistency, it's a small amount (I had done a 500mL carton once that had separated) so I don't expect it to separate out, but all you'd need to do is mix it.

It was awesome that we not only we could chat about keto but also Deeper State Keto. #dsksistas

We both spent a bit of time onboarding, she's a few weeks ahead of me in Phase 2. Though there is no set time in Phase 2, you go as long as you need.

We both agreed that Deeper State Keto is hard. It requires a certain amount of discipline for a minimum of 3 months. You can only go over or under each macro by 5g. We found that by doing DSK we have become more sensitive to fluctuations if our macros aren't on point. Eating out isn't worth it.
Things that I thought were okay, isn't. I feel it the next day. Plus it may derail your body's adjustment bit by bit. (I still haven't recovered from the screw up I had from 3 weeks ago.) We found that we both did better onboarding so far. 
So why do we still keep doing it? Because we've learned so much about ourselves and how our bodies react. We don't have a lot of weight to loose, we're more interested in the recomp...and that takes time and discipline. You may wanna check back in a month or so! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Keto has changed our lives and gotten us in a better place with our health...we ain't looking back!

Deeper State Keto Update!

Here's what's happened so far...
. -5 weeks onboarding to get my metabolism up and normal from one that was low, I went from eating under 1100 calories to 1800 calories without significant weight gain

-6 weeks in Phase 1 (Week 2 was repeated due to inaccurate tracking and that was seen in weight fluctuations throughout that week). Then recovering from that week was rough and I was unsure if what I was seeing was from the screwed up week or from reaching my protein threshold.

I was then busy with things going on that I just progressed with my macros as per the program and kept to them best I could. Then by the time I started to realize that maybe I'm feeling kinda "meh/crappy" was from reaching my protein limit...that 6 weeks had gone by! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

I suspect that I reached my point a week or two ago as it was something that came over me gradually.

SOOOOO, here I am! Welcome to Phase 2! This is where the fun/magic happens! ๐Ÿ’ƒ and the most challenging too! Here we go!

They're like the Babybel cheese rounds but creamier. I just looove them!

If I'm shy of a few macros at the end of the day these are just perfect with 5g fat, 5g protein and 70 calories a piece.

I do get these from Costco US in Bellingham, WA (sorry my Canadian friends ๐Ÿ˜ฅ, if I could do a border run for y'all I would!) They're in the giant refrigerated area with the doors, while you're there pick up the bag of individually portioned Tillamook cheddar ๐Ÿ˜‰
