Cape St. Francis, South Africa. Talhado Children’s Haven or Speel Kliniek was started in 1998 by Child Welfare as a children’s clinic at the request of mothers living in Sea Vista. Toys were provided for the children to play with while they waited for the doctor and this lead to the aftercare centre. In 2017, Cathryn Hempel officially established Talhado Montesorri School with two classrooms and certified teachers. Now, Talhado is the feeder school for Sea Vista Primary School, in St Francis Bay and Mzingizi Primary School in Humansdorp. The school serves the community of Sea Vista and Zwelitsha which are mainly Afrikaans or Xhosa speaking. Pre-primary classes are taught in Afrikaans and Xhosa. This photo was taken during our short visit to the school, and he was very happy to show me his wonderful smile! #capestfrancis #school #children #southafrica #africa #wanderer #travelgram #exploring #traveladdict #learning #southafricans #beautifuldestinations #travel #wanderlust #canon #instagood #smile #travelphotography #southafricaza #portrait #canon5dmarkiv #globetrotter #travelpics #instatravel #adventure #visitsouthafrica #wander #instapic #explore #travelblogger

Bayala, South Africa. We were very lucky to be at this site, because this photo was taken just before sunset. I just love the composition of this photo, with the zebras standing in the grass and the rainbow in the back. Zebras are African equids (horse family) united by their distinctive black and white striped coats. Their stripes come in different patterns, unique to each individual. They are social animals that live in small harems to large herds. Interestingly, it was believed that zebras were white animals with black stripes. However, embryological evidence, shows that the animal's background color is black and the white stripes and bellies are additions. #bayala #zebra #nature #southafrica #africa #wanderer #travelgram #exploring #traveladdict #love #southafricans #beautifuldestinations #travel #wanderlust #canon #zebras #naturephotography #travelphotography #travelsouthafrica #wildlife #canon5dmarkiv #globetrotter #travelpics #instatravel #ilovenature #visitsouthafrica #naturelovers #rainbow #explore #travelblogger

Cape Town (Kaapstad), South Africa. Cape Town is located on the shore of Table Bay and is the oldest urban area in South Africa. The area was developed by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) as a supply station for Dutch ships sailing to East Africa, India, and the Far East. Jan van Riebeeck's arrival on 6 April 1652 established Dutch Cape Colony, the first permanent European settlement in South Africa. This photo was taken from Robben Island and is located in Table Bay, in about 6 km west of Bloubergstrand in Cape Town, and stands some 30m above sea level. St. Lucia, South Africa. The small town St. Lucia is mainly a hub for the iSimangaliso Wetland Park (previously known as the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park). The word isimangaliso means ‘a miracle’ or ‘something wondrous’ in Zulu. The park is also home to 1,200 Nile crocodiles and 800 hippopotami. Common hippos are recognisable by their barrel-shaped torsos, wide-opening mouths revealing large canine tusks, nearly hairless bodies, columnar legs and large size. Adults average 1,500 kg and 1,300 kg for males and females respectively. Despite its stocky shape and short legs, it is capable of running 30 km/h over short distances. This photo shows the characteristic ‘yawn’ of a hippo. #stlucia #naturelovers #nature #southafrica #africa #wanderer #travelgram #exploring #traveladdict #love #southafricans #beautifuldestinations #travel #wanderlust #canon #instagood #naturephotography #travelphotography #travelsouthafrica #hippo #canon5dmarkiv #globetrotter #travelpics #instatravel #wildlife #visitsouthafrica #instamood #ilovenature #explore #travelblogger

Knysna, South Africa. We visited the Siphuncedo pre-school in Knysna, which is located in White Location, or Wit Lokasie. Our guide Peggy Dlephu has a soup kitchen that feeds about 95 children twice a week, and assists Siphuncedo preschool. Peggy is a woman on a mission and a force to be reckoned with. Importantly, last year’s Cape Storm (2017) caused fires that swept through the town of Knysna and surrounding areas in the days after the storm. The fires killed seven people and displaced around 10,000 with around 600 structures in Knysna and Plettenberg Bay being destroyed. At this moment, Knysna is rising from the ashes and being rebuild. Top of the Rock, New York, USA. Throwback to a beautiful sunset in 2013! 30 Rockefeller Plaza is an American Art Deco skyscraper that forms the centerpiece of Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. The observation deck atop the skyscraper, dubbed ‘Top of the Rock’, is built to resemble the deck of an ocean liner. It is often considered the best panoramic city view, if only because it offers a view of the aforementioned Empire State Building, which cannot be seen from its own observation deck. The frameless safety glass around the perimeter of the deck dates to 2005, when the facility reopened to the public. #newyork #nyc #exploring #newyorkcity #usa #unitedstates #us #longexposure_shots #instagood #wanderlust #canonphotography #architecture #love #travelblogger #canon #architecturephotography #architecturelovers #explore #globetrotter #travel #travelphotography #beautifuldestinations #instatravel #empirestatebuilding #instadaily #travelpics #longexposure #sunset #topoftherock #amazing

Maastricht, Limburg, The Netherlands. The St. Servatius Bridge is an arched stone footbridge across the Meuse river in Maastricht. The Romans built a wooden bridge across the Meuse in approximately AD 50, and the Latin phrase for 'crossing of the Meuse', 'mosae trajectum', became the name of the city. For many years this remained the only crossing of the lower Meuse until the bridge collapsed in the year 1275. Its replacement, the present bridge, was built to the north of the older crossing between 1280 and 1298. The Roman Catholic Church encouraged its construction by providing indulgences to people who helped build it. #maastricht #mestreech #maastrichtcity #thecityofmaastricht #bridge #amazing #sintservaasbrug #instatravel #globetrotter #netherlands #holland #nederland #limburg #zuidlimburg #longexposure #longexposure_shots #hdrphotography #instagood #wanderlust #canon #canon5dmarkiv #canonphotography #architecture #instadaily #love #nightphotography #architecturephotography #architecturelovers #travel #europe

The madrasa functioned both as an educational institute and as a congregational mosque. This is the only madrasa in Fes with a minaret. The new guardian angel of Maastricht, the Netherlands. The angel, made by Wil van der Laan, is about 3m tall and stands on a concrete base of 4.5m. The statue is located on the roundabout Scharnerweg - Groene Loper. The angel is an icon for the city Maastricht and is the perfect figure to symbolically connect East and West after the A2 highway is relocated to the A2 tunnel. Maastricht is characterised by features such as elegance, charm, and gracefulness, which are depicted in the angel. The angel stands with her face towards Scharn, in this way she welcomes visitors who go to the inner city of Maastricht. It rises from the waves of the swirling Meuse (river). The statue is black-brown patinated with gold accents, referring to the spirit of southerners, ‘21st century Baroque from Maastricht’. #maastricht #mestreech #angel #engel #maastrichtcity #thecityofmaastricht #avenue #tunnel #statue #bronze #baroque #netherlands #artwork #nederland #art #architecture #limburg #travelgram #instagood #wanderlust #canon #canon5dmarkiv #travelphoto #canonphotography #architecture #love #amazing #super_holland #travelphotography #instadaily

Saadian Tombs, Marrakech, Morocco. The impressive mausoleum comprises the interments of about sixty members of the Saadi Dynasty that originated in the valley of the Draa River. Among the graves are those of Ahmad al-Mansur and his family. The building is composed of three rooms. Especially the Italian Carrara marble and gilding honeycomb muqarnas (decorative plasterwork) with pure gold make the Chamber of the 12 Pillars a suitably glorious mausoleum. #marrakech #saadiantombs #saadi #mausoleum #marble #morocco #unesco #travelgram #moroccotravel #instadaily #amazing #traveladdict #travelblogger #moroc #moroccan #love #beautiful #travel #wanderlust #canon #instagood #architecturephotography #travelphotography #canon5dmarkiv #architecture #ceramictiles #travelpics #lovemorocco #instatravel
