I always love a new launch from @emmahardieskincare I always say it’s the brand that can do no wrong I have loved every launch they’ve done.
.
I thought I would share my first impressions as this just arrived the other day, first off this is the Purifying Pink Clay Detox Mask which helps to cleanse, purify and balance the skin while refining the pores and gentle exfoliating.
.
The mask is also said to help with reducing high colour and redness, I tend to be quite red so I’m looking forward to seeing the lasting effects of using this mask.
.
This new mask contains a pink clay which is said to provide hydration to the skin whilst helping to improve its texture and firmness. This mask also contains an AHA blend known as “multifruit” although it doesn’t say the percentage of said acids.
.
P-Refinyl which lessens the appearance of any dilated pores and reduces sebum production.
.
Finally Defensil a skin conditioning agent that helps to sore irritated and inflamed skin ( this where the reduction of high colour and redness will come in)
.
.
I have to be honest and say the only problem I have with this is the use of the word ”detox” I don’t like the word in general as it means nothing it’s not possible to detox it’s a marketing term one of those buzzwords that everyone uses. It’s scientifically proven that you can’t “detox” the body so it’s the same for the skin as there are no toxins present in the skin in the first place and even if there were your kidneys would handle that! it wouldn’t be up to a skincare product to take care of it. From what I can see there are no ingredients that would even “detox” the skin even if it were possible.
In my opinion I think “detox” was just added in to the name as a buzzword so the mask can target a larger audience of those people who want to detox it’s sad because I don’t wanna Emma Hardie to go down the road of marketing to people based on fear and pseudoscientific buzzwords .

I have a blog post coming out soon on these interesting products I have been sent by @electricinkskin they are all about taking the best care of tattoos so you can prolong the vibrancy for longer.
.
I’m going to do a little research into them and tattoo care, so far I have been sent the Vibrancy Serum which is a serum to exchange and maintain the pigment vibrancy of tattoos and the Defining Oil.
.
Thanks to the fabulous and awesome @tdmcgurl_pt for trying these out seeing as I am tattooless haha! 🙌🏻❤️

If you remember back to my post on the powdered sunscreen from @colorescienceuk, they not only do powdered but a fluid sunscreen as well! .
This is is the Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield, a broad spectrum SPF 50 containing solely of Zinc Oxide at around 22%
.
Another fantastic little feature of this product is it’s not chalk white. Thinking of a pure Zinc Oxide sunscreen might curdle your blood but good news is it contains a colour I don’t want to call it a tint it provides no coverage but when applied it seems to go on clear 🙌🏻
.
Since this sunscreen is broad spectrum it protects against UVA and UVB, Zinc Oxide is unique in that respect. This sunscreen also claims to protect against IR, Blue light and pollution.
.
I have used this a couple of times now and I had been quite liking it apart from the fact it does make me a little oily but I just set it with the sunscreen power and that seems to work well.
.
It is a little thicker than most formulas but that is to be expect considering that it is a physical (inorganic) formula.

It’s no secret that I love a powdered sunscreen! 🙌🏻❤️
.
This powered sunscreen recently arrived from the people at @colorescienceuk and If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll hopefully have seen my post on “Brush on Block” well this is a similar idea.
.
Powdered Sunscreens are great for reapplication thought out the day not only do they help protect you from UV rays but they help to control oil like a regular powder would. .
.
I would not recommend this as your daily spf as it’s just a powder I would always say to using your primary sunscreen in the morning preferably a fluid like the @biodermauk Photoderm MAX and then applying a powdered SPF throughout the day
.
This sunscreen contains 2 physical (inorganic) filters titanium dioxide 22.5% and zinc oxide 22.5% .
.
.
ColoureScience seem to be ahead of the game because they not only protect against UV rays but protect against blue light, IR rays and pollution. .

*UPDATED SKINCARE ROUTINE*
I’ve been using a pretty bare bones routine lately which seems to be working well for me! 🙌🏻
.
Since starting using Adapalene (@dermatica.skin) I’ve found that I don’t want to be using anything to harsh on my skin, I never thought I’d ever do this. It I stopped using glycolic acid but hopefully will be able to add it back in one day.
.
Cleansing - @merumaya Mineral Cleansing Paste, now this is a new one for me as this has just launched so far I’m loving it! It has the texture of Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant but thicker in a paste like form. 👍🏻👍🏻
.
Toner- @larocheposayuki Serozinc, this a great mattifying mist for oily and blemish-prone skin. It contains zinc sulphate and sodium chloride to combat excessive oiliness and breakouts.
.
Treatment- @dermatica.skin 0.1% Adapalene, probably one of my favourite retinols ever! I’m totally converted to using prescription strength 🙌🏻❤️
.
Serum - @larocheposay Hyalu B5 Serum, a fantastic hyaluronic Acid Serum as we all know HA is a fantastic humectant as it holds 1000 times it weight on water so it’s amazing for hydrating skin and reducing transepidermal waterloss 💦 💦 .
.
Moisturiser - Finally the La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Nuit, a fantastic PM moisturiser for sensitive/sensitised skin. It’s one of the only moisturisers I would trust for using when prescription strength skincare not to cause a reaction. .

I wanted to do a little update on the fantastic dermatological service that @dermatica.skin provides.
.
I’ve been using Adapalene for a good few weeks now and I honestly can’t believe I didn’t try this sooner! .
.
.
If you aren’t familiar with Adapalene you might know it as Differin, a third generation retinol that is gentler than your regular tretinoin. Retinoids basically adjust the abnormal patterns in the life cycle of skin cells so they are produced and die at normal, non-pore-clogging rate
.
When I was younger I had a problem with acne but it seemed to get better the older I got but I still broke out no matter what I did that was until I tried this amazing beauty! .
.
.
Of course at first I went through an insane purging period that made me almost give up using it but I feel the benzoyl peroxide in this really helped, I got past the purging period and I honestly haven’t had a break out in a good couple of weeks now.
.
Before I was of the opinion that there is no need for prescription strength but these last few weeks have amazed me at how much of a difference a proper prescription strength retinol can do!
.
It’s gotten to the point where I would recommend anyone with problem skin to check out dermatica not to mention their consultant dermatologist @nmkskin is the nicest most knowledgeable person! .

There is a lot of fear and misinformation around about Silicones, some of it even told to us by professionals. .
.
Silicones are derived from a substance called Silica, it’s the ingredient that gives your products that really nice slip, the ingredients that makes everything sit really well when used in makeup primers.
.
.
There’s a common myth that silicones are bad for your skin because they suffocate the skin and clog your pores causing acne, well I’m here to tell you that it’s bullshit basically there is no research or studies that show silicone is bad for you it’s all based on anecdotal evidence I always like to remind people that “correlation does not imply causation” just because you used a product with silicone it doesn’t mean it was the silicone that broke you out.
.
It’s been show that silicones are great for dry skin as they help to protect it against outside aggressors whilst still letting the skin function normally (another thing the skin doesn’t breathe so you can’t “suffocate it” yet another myth) .
I absolutely love the @muradskincareuk Invisblur Perfecting Shield which is basically all silicone it’s a beautiful product that sits amazingly under makeup.
.
We are often told that you should never use silicones if you have acne which again is false as you’ll sometimes see dermatologists providing products that combat the drying effects of Benozyl Peroxide by pair it with something with silicone in it.
.
Even when we think from a chemical stand point most silicones are what are called “volatile substances” (not as scary as it sounds) this means that means the initial thick texture evaporates quickly and does not have time to penetrate the pore lining where acne is formed..
.
.
If you don’t like silicones because of personal preference like sensory issues with how it feels then that is totally fine but if you are avoiding them because you were told they were bad for you now you know the truth ❤️

Meet Salicylic Acid, probably one of favourite ingredients for a number of issues from fighting acne, getting rid of blackheads and helping to manage pore size but its primary benefit is an an exfoliant, it helps the skin to shed dead cells in a way similar to how skin acts when we are younger.
.
I bet you didn’t know that Salicylic Acid is actually a derivative of acetylsalicylic acid which is more commonly known as Aspirin 😱 it’s great as Salicylic Acid has all the benefits such as soothing inflammation, itchiness and redness
.
Salicylic acid is oil permeable which means it’s one of the few ingredients that can actually penetrate the pore lining enabling it to flush out all the hardened sebum and skin cells that cause blackheads.
.
Of course Salicylic Acid isn’t a complete treatment you will need to pair it with other ingredients as once you get the pore clean you need to keep it clean other wise it will just form another blackhead so cleansing properly is a must. .
.
Salicylic acid comes in different products in different forms from creams/cleansers/lotions/toners like the @paulaschoiceuk 2% BHA .

I hear a lot of people asking if it’s ok to just wear the SPF that’s in your makeup. .
As @tatiannagram would say “uhhhh choices” 😒😂 often the SPF that is added to our products isn’t good enough because not only is it usually just an SPF 15 we don’t apply enough of it to get the proper coverage.
.
When applying SPF we should be using at least 2.0mg per square cm whereas most people are only applying a layer of 0.75mg
.
To make it easier to visualise we have to be applying at least half of a teaspoon.
.
So you can understand that if the average person is only applying 0.75mg of SPF the chances of you applying enough foundation to actually get the level of coverage required is quite hard.
.
I would always suggest wearing a dedicated facial SPF like @bioderma Photoderm MAX 50+ or @larocheposayuki Anthelios, if you can wear chemical (organic) @gloskinbeautyuk makes a great physical filter .
You can also really apply your SPF with a mineral power like @colorescienceuk or @brushonblock .

I love that I have never seen anything like this before basically it’s an online dermatology service where you can get access to prescription strength products without the long waiting times to see someone on the NHS it can be done in no time at all.
.
All you have to do is visit dermatica.co.uk fill in their consultation and they will ask for pictures of your face to see what is best for you.
.
It might seem a bit shady but I can assure you that dermatica is run by the best they have a consultant dermatologist on hand as well as a team of pharmacists that create all of these products.
.
This is a fantastic service for those of you that have problem skin things like acne, hyperpigmentation, scarring etc you can get access to things like Tretinoin, Adapalene (Differin), Tazarotene, Benzoyl Peroxide etc
.
This service is not just for acne it also can be used by those worried about anti ageing.
.
The service its self is £19.99 and you get 30 days supply and then you get a fresh supply every month making sure that you have the most active and potent product!
.
Right now I’m using Adapalene 0.1% and Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% which they call “Epi-Duo” as it’s a combination of both as well as 20% Azelaic Acid as I have quite a few red acne scars left over I can’t wait to do a proper review on this on the blog so keep an eye out for that.

I was looking back on old photos of myself and I feel like I had such a good glow-up ❤️
.
I used to be so self conscious about myself in general which was hard to deal with to be honest I always liked to cover myself up but as I grew old I started to care less and started to love myself more. .
For me personally it’s amazing to see how far I’ve come in just 10 years it’s amazing

A lot of people don’t believe you when you say you should be wearing sunscreen even on days when it’s cloudy and overcast.
.
So as a visual experiment I bought these UV reactive beads, they change colour from clear/grey to colourful when exposed to UV light.
.
As you can see almost immediately after stepping outside they change colour now imagine what the same UV radiation is doing to your skin! .
I love these beads as they give you an indication of how strong the UV is outside, it’s said that the brighter the colour of the beads the stronger the UV that hits them.
.
What do you guys think of this? Surprised?? .

This is literally me! Haha 😂
.
I honestly feel like if you’re going to use one product for anti-ageing the best one is sunscreen as it’s thought that 80% of all visible ageing is caused by sun damage.
.
You should be wearing a broad spectrum SPF of at least 30 everyday no matter if it’s a sunny summers day or a rainy winters day and you should be reapplying every 2-3 hours if you are in direct sunlight.
