You can't ever step on the same part of a river more than once. So does it make any sense to keep trying? It would be wise to learn from the river instead and keep on flowing and making your own path.
Most of the time people are too focused on the little things, so much so, that they don't even see the important things go over their heads. To get distracted easily is a trait that we all innately share, but to focus on the important things is a skill few of us ever master.
Daily questions to ask yourself when thinking about your decisions:
Why? Why not? Why not me? Why not now?
If all you can think about are excuses, then I highly recommend you reevaluate your way of thinking.
Every successful person has left a burning trail of experiences in their wake. Ashes cover the roads and are strewn about by the winds of conformity, making the path to greatness that much more obscure. But fret not, the trail is still there and all you need to do is look with careful eyes and follow with steady feet.
To be courageous doesn't mean that you're not scared or that you don't have any fears at all. Everyone is scared of something whether they want to admit it or not. I know this because there is no short supply of things to fear in this world. To be courageous means fearing the right thing at the right time. To only fear fire when it's going to burn you or to fear falling when you're standing on a ledge, any other time would be unreasonable and only stand as a detriment to your progress.
When looking around, how often do you take the time to change your perspective and see the world from a different point of view? Have you ever tried looking up from the ground, much like an ant would? I think you'd be surprised to find how grand of a being you truly are when looking through the eyes of something much smaller than you.
People, for some reason, don't think about the better person they can be because they can't see beyond the troubles of the present and refuse to see that where they are now is a result of what they've done in the past. How much time do you spend planning for the future, living in the present, and learning from the past?
When you focus on your goal and think about what's on the other side of that door, everything else around you will start to get distorted. Everything else will shift and bend to get your attention, to get you to change your focus, so that even your dream becomes the distraction that everyone else thinks it is. Staying focused pays off and you can only reap the benefits when you get to that door and open it.
The diamonds that truly shine are the ones that know how to use the exuberance of light alongside the depression of darkness to completely express itself in a way that assimilates both aspects into a brilliance that others can can only hope to one day achieve.
Sometimes the world will feel like it's trying to overwhelm you, surrounding you from all sides and trying to block out all the rays of hope with its dark leaves of misfortune. But you know something that others fail to realize. While everyone else is focusing on the looming darkness before them, you are looking forward to the time when the leaves will eventually fall. Because you know that when the time comes, while the others will be fearing their own shadows, you are looking up, ready to grasp the fruits of opportunity borne from the trees of adversity.
There are a lot of people out there who live on the border of dreams and reality. They stand there looking across the line and admiring all the beautiful colors in the world of dreams, dreading to turn around to see the grey oppression of reality. Little do they know that it only takes but a few single steps beyond that line to find the courage, motivation, and determination to erase that boundary and make those dreams into a reality.
