New shoes + ancient rug 🌈
We’ve been up since the crack of dawn trying to get four children ready for an outing to Greenwich Planetarium for the ‘Astronomy and Islam’ talk. I hope they will find it interesting!
Close up of this amazing @libertylondon floral 😍 I’m having a bit of a plain/solids moment with my wardrobe, having spent the last two years sewing with prints! My next project is a pair of dark grey velvet Peppermint Wide Leg Pants, I hope they look as good as they do in my head 🤔
Anyone else missing flowers on these grey winter days? I’ve just got my replacement tulip bulbs from @peter_nyssen, so that’s a job to add to the weekend list. Sadly I can’t remember which colours I planted in each pot so there may be some surprises next Spring!
Marshmallow mood 🍭
This colourblock version of the @espacetricot Turtle Dove sweater is a fluffy delight. My kids can’t help stroking it! I used Drops Brushed Alpaca doubled and it’s light but warm. It’s a brilliant free pattern for beginners. Wearing it with my Everyday Skirt in chambray.
I visited the @hassanhajjaj_larache shop/studio in Shoreditch and loved it! Reminded me of all my favourite things about Morocco and Egypt, all with a healthy dose of kitsch and colour. His wife was there and we had an interesting chat about his work.
A wonderful morning with @stylonylon and @millykr learning about photography and styling. If you own or are curious about @olympus_pengeneration cameras the Image Square workshops are a brilliant way to learn and are incredible value! Next time I will actually drink one of these beautiful lattes instead of just photographing them 🙃
Happy new week! We haven’t had the best start this morning but everyone is finally where they are meant to be. We caught the local squirrels stealing all my carefully planted tulip collections over the weekend. There are hardly any left! Any ideas how to prevent it in future? I usually plant in the ground but they must be easier to take from pots.
This pretty garden is near London Bridge and was designed by Zandra Rhodes, I sacrificed my last few percent of battery to take some photos and couldn’t snap the amazing panoramic view of London at sunset later on! I’m currently a bit obsessed with chunky Scandinavian style jumpers and think this would be a great combination for stripes 🌈
I was feeling shopped out last night after stocking up on patterns so my daughter and I made this @ikateecouture Jasmin dress hack in a beautiful French terry from @thesweetmercerie (I may have bought this last Black Friday 🤔). Swipe for detail pic and a little somebody who had a bit too much fun posing for photos!
Time for getting cosy with beautiful magazines like this one I picked up at @paper_smiths. Luckily my son is now at that perfect age when he thinks it’s fun to de-ice the car in the morning 😆
PS. These munchkin pumpkins were late finds at the allotment. Any ideas for them other than using them as styling props??
One of those weeks of just muddling through! Dark days, late meetings and another of those minor illnesses that I seem to catch as a GP on the frontline 😩 I made this @tessutifabrics Monroe Turtleneck on Sunday out of a beautiful soft charcoal viscose jersey. It’s such a simple staple project, I will definitely be making another soon, in some merino jersey from The Fabric Store. I don’t usually like to wear turtlenecks but this is quite comfortable (I cut it an extra half inch wider). One minor gripe is that the pattern is 49 pages A4 but this is mostly because the sleeves are on separate pieces. If we knew the pages to cut for our size it would save a lot of work!
I gave up my allotment last week, with some regret but also a feeling of relief. I’m actually looking forward to having a bit more time to get to grips with the garden as my time was split across the garden and allotment for the past two years. I still have four 6’ by 4’ raised beds for growing vegetables and there is plenty of space elsewhere as well. Yesterday I planted the garlic and all my @sarahravensgarden tulip collections, I’m really looking forward to my spring pots!
