December, +13C. For me, ideal time for rose themed perfumes. Today I’m wearing @ormondejayne Rose Gold. I sprayed vigorously. Early in the morning. Even before brushing my teeth. Got carried away, one full spray ended on my lips. Now my toothbrush smells great. Taif Rose, fresh and spicy at the same time: smooth, elegant, dignified and sexy. Lovely, it deserves more attention! 🌹
I’m also looking forward to testing these two beauties recommended and sent to me by dear @anayelperfume: @exaltatum_parfum Ruby Wood - more roses, and Osmanthus Nobile.
Roses, anyone? 🤗🌹

Bois Tabac Virginia by @lejardinretrouve ! Like a breath of an old, ancient mountain...Retro, in a good, heartwarming way. With golden brown dry #tobacco leaves. The same sort, Virginia, my grandmother farmed, dried and raised five kids with it.
Lavander is present in an unobtrusive way, giving a touch of freshness to those dark brown woody-smokey tones, swirling around them.
The most „masculine one“? I enjoy wearing it, maybe because of fine dry #vetiver and gentle, soft #sandalwood , enhancing this composition.
Limited Edition, signed and numbered as a part of The Perfume Revival Project I wrote about, and reviewed all perfumes - check out my blog pages, link in bio. My first choice, the famous Red Dot: woody, earthy, mossy, finely balanced.
Interesting, on my skin it remains mostly woody in the drydown, while on my husband’s skin the sandalwood turns it into an almost sweet, slightly oriental mix. For #chypre lovers!
Rainy Monday morning...Feeling summertime sadness...Summer - related - another interesting recent discovery: @bjorkandberries Solstice.
#bjorkandberries - Natural, ecoluxury cosmetics, from Sweden, resourcing locally - with their own line of perfumes. The concept behind Solstice is “never ending light”, and celebration of Midsummer in Swedish tradion. Crispy bitter Neroli, soft orange blossoms, fresh flowers still half-closed with a slight touch of spices. A whiff of lavander in the background. Soft woody drydown, very skinclose. Interesting construction, nice rythm of development, smooth transitions, decent longevity. 79EUR/50ml EDP. Fair and square. Btw. their birch leaf water hand cream is really good and nice smelling too!
By perfumer Jerome Epinette, who is inspired first and foremost by the beauty of nature.

SOTN, testing @bohoboco.perfume collection: 2016. Red Wine Brown Sugar - opening with freshly squeezed rapsberry juice, quickly transitioning in a sort-of-a-wine feeling. Not like Gluehwein/Mulled Wine, which I expected. It felt more like a big sip of crisp Beaujolais Nouveau, for a brief moment. Later on
it settles down in a rosewood and caramelised brown sugar layer which lasts...it lingers on with a synthetic-metalic leather vibe couple of hours later. Not something that makes my heart race, but if you like sweetish, fruity-vanilla sugarcoated caramels to keep you warm, give it a try. The samples set is available, FB is 129EUR? Life is a box of chocolates so I’ll move to the next perfume testing 💃

Charlatan, edition 2018. Much talked about recently. Desired. Reviewed. First of all, let me answer to all fragheads who asked me if it is really so “good” in my opinion - because, and I quote: “not fully trusting all the praise coming from various reviewers who raise into divinity every full bottle they get.” Don’t kill the messenger, btw. We can also discuss this, in a separate topic.
In my honest opinion, it is. More than “good”, if we are speaking in these terms (let’s talk about perfume as an art form, please). This is truly an exquisite perfume, finely blended, obviously using high quality ingredients, intriguingly composed. I will not copy paste listed notes either, you can easily find them online. Charlatan is giving more, unfolding it’s different facets right on your skin, under your nose.
Easily described as jasmine in it’s carnal form, but that’s not what defines it. You might say it’s a gourmand, but not so obviously, never that plainly. A rose-themed one? Yes, definitely, but the rose is dark, withering, sprinkled with chocolate. Oriental floral? Yes and no, again: Osmanthus is quite tricky and sandalwood as liquid gold. Why try to fit it into a labeled drawer, anyway?
First thing that came to my mind when I applied it? Nick Cave’s song “They call me The Wild Rose”...the words, mood, images...
Performance is decent, longevity moderate: this perfume is so lovely in it’s complexity that I don’t mind reapplying. I’ll blame my dry skin for this.
I will now fully enjoy it before writing a review, I need to think about it, give it some time.
As always, I write only about perfumes I find worthy of writing, and can recommend after careful and dedicated consideration and thorough wearing. Do always your own testing, though! 😘
P.S. Just to let you know, Fatih Sultan Mehmed also impressed me! Got some more samples, will let you know...but these two...ah!
