Finally visited @eastlakemgm the other night. Believe it or not, I used a 2 year old Groupon for it! I'd been to the @midtownglobalmarket many times but I'd never gone into the taproom. Their space was very nice and their Mud In Your Eye Brown Ale was probably my favorite of their beers. Also has the best food options of any brewery since you can go to any stall in the market and bring it in!
Before heading to @meritage.stp for our first dinner alone as new parents we walked over to @barreltheory for a couple of drinks. My wife isn't a fan of IPAs but she drank an entire glass of Rain Drops. If that's not a testament to their quality I don't know what is!
What's your drink of choice when you're not drinking beer? We changed it up a bit yesterday and visited the lovely @keepsakecidery. Their ciders were very complex and we had a lovely time trying all nine they had on tap. It was too hot for our little one on the patio, so we are planning to return in the fall!
I just had the realization I would have to wait almost a year for the Minnesota State Fair. What a cruel world! This little spot from @thestarkeller and @schellsbeer was easy to miss but had my favorite beer: It Takes 2 to Tango and 3 to Mango. Until next year!
What's your favorite brewery mural? At @junkyardbrewing they fill their walls with a bunch of tiny paintings, each representing one of the beers they brew. My favorite is the peanut king! If you haven't yet, you can read about the visit on my blog.
We've begun thinking about a trip to Europe next year which has got me looking through old photos. They have vast public beer gardens and we just don't have anything like that here that I know of. This photograph is in Letna Park which overlooks Prague and the Vltava River. It might be one of the best places I've ever had a beer! What's your favorite spot for a cold one?
Dodging raindrops in Duluth wasn't our idea of a weekend getaway, but we made the most of it by hitting up some breweries that we hadn't been to in the area. The first stop was @lakesuperiorbrewingcompany. They claim to be the oldest microbrewery in Minnesota, so I wanted to see how their traditional styles stack up to the competition. Read about the visit on my blog, link in bio.
If you still haven't read about my visit to the Fargo-Moorhead area then now is the time. This is behind the bar at the @drekkerbrewing original taproom. They just opened their brand new Brewhalla, which means I've got to plan another trip soon! If only they weren't four hours away...
Second year of my homemade hop trellis. Lots of cones spilling out over the top! Not going to harvest them yet, maybe next year. I plan to double the amount of bines to provide a solid wall of hops that will provide some privacy for our patio. Half is Cascade and the other half is Golden Nugget. The latter is growing like crazy with gigantic cones!
What's your favorite Duluth area brewery? Earlier this summer my wife and I took a weekend trip to our old college town. It was warm when we left home but cold and rainy when we arrived! Instead of hiking around, we made an easy decision to hit some breweries. The first of which was @lakesuperiorbrewingcompany. Expect a blog post soon!
Who's your favorite person to go to breweries with? Mine is my wife, which is why we spent our anniversary at the new @summitbeer Ratskeller! It's not too different than before, but everything they changed is certainly for the better. Happy anniversary Samantha!
We took a little road trip at the end of May for my birthday. The plan was for lunch in Hudson and then a drive up the St. Croix for a bit of sightseeing. While in town we stopped at the taproom of @hopandbarrel. Two of the beers pictured were my favorites. Saint Black Lager and Unintended Consequences Red IPA. Can you guess which is which? Complete notes on our visit is now on the blog. Link in bio!
One last fair photo before I move on with my life. It's a Strawberry Mint Fro-Lé from @freehousempls and found at the @bluebarnmn. They added this spot a couple of years back along with the West End Market and it's become one of our favorite stops. It's also a perfect place to meet people, since there are no other blue barns on the grounds and it is the first thing that people taking the bus will see.
