Not everyone will understand and support your decisions, not everyone will agree with what you have to say, but that’s okay - your life is yours to live, and your opinion is the only one that matters.
Success isn’t tangible - it’s all relative and its definition is up to your individual interpretation... but your definition of success is the only one that matters. For some it may be to be a millionaire, for others it may be freedom, for others stability... Many like to think that their definition is the right one - and they might want different things for you than what you want for yourself.
Maybe your parents suggested you study law or become a doctor, maybe your parents suggest you should stop traveling and find a home (aka me), maybe your friends think you should be more serious or let loose more often... Reality is, if it feels right to YOU, it’s right for you. 😘
PS: My incredibly talented and supportive bestie and coworker @fallon.travels edited this pic for me and her Lightroom presets are linked in her bio!
“There’s two ways to see the world.
Some people will see the thing that they want, and some people see the thing that prevents them from getting the thing that they want.” - Simon Sinek
Take a minute to step back and evaluate the way you approach the things you want - do you focus on HOW to make them happen, or do you focus on what’s in your way? The simple switch from focusing on problems to focusing on solutions is so powerful... especially because your mindset is the only thing that can actually hold you back. Your only limit is you!
The past few months have not been my healthiest - I’ve been traveling a lot, working a lot, eating a lot, drinking more than usual, but also having tons of fun.
While I’ve come to the realization that I’m not very healthy compared to my usual, I wouldn’t take it back. I’ve met amazing people, tried amazing food, moved my business forward, had so many laughs and one too many injuries.
However, after having to be so sedentary the past month because of my injury, I’m SO ready to get healthy again... and Thailand seems like the perfect place to do that.
If you haven’t been feeling your best, don’t stress about it or dwell on it, but join me in moving forward! You don’t have to wait for a new year to make a change!
I used to always struggle with loneliness - feeling alone in a crowded room, feeling like no one understands me and like no one really cares (except for my cat ofc) I’m logical and reasonable and I know in my head that’s not the case, but sometimes you just can’t escape the feeling. I remember coming home from parties and even while living with 4 of my best friends, still feeling so disconnected and alone, trying to fill that void with boys or relationships, yet finding I felt even more lonely while in a relationship. As a digital nomad and solo traveler spending immense amounts of time alone, those feelings changed...
With time, I’ve come to realize that what I was missing wasn’t love and affection from someone else, but from myself. Because time after time, relationship after relationship, that void just became deeper. What has helped, ironically, has been spending more time by myself and getting to know myself.
This isn’t a witty, fun or shiny caption and most of you won’t read it, but it’s real and I think we need to discuss mental health more. I want you to know that if you ever feel alone, you’re not alone. The world, your family and your friends do love you, and any inability to grasp that feeling is something you need to work and reflect on. If you’re feeling down, talk to someone about your feelings, but also spend time with yourself and work on your relationship with yourself. You need to grow to learn and understand yourself and hold space for yourself. If you continue to search for that something outside of yourself, you will only find temporary fixes and make that void bigger. Remember that your feelings about the outer world are a reflection of your inner world - so work from the inside out and look for the light inside of you - because it’s inside you, not anyone else.
In the meantime, if you ever feel alone, please reach out to me. Even if we have never spoken, I’m here 💕
Escaped the European winter and made it to Thailand and I cannot get enough of all the sunshine & coconuts!
@fallon.travels and I are here for the next couple of weeks (maybe more?!) and I’d love to hear any recommendations - where should we go & what should we do?!
Have you ever gone somewhere and felt completely at home? That’s Turkey for me.
Those of you who watch my stories already know how much I love the people, the cats, the culture, and the Ubers... but I want to reiterate how amazing this city is! Turkey might not have the best rep right now, but this country is so special and beautiful and worth the visit! Not to mention the low cost of living!
@fallon.travels and I have had such an amazing month living here in Istanbul (although I must admit we spent way too much time tucked away working at cafes).
Tell me - have my stories convinced any of you to add Istanbul to your list?!
For the longest time I’ve been coming up with excuses for why I can’t go to one of the places I’ve been dying to go to for-literally-ever.
“the time zone won’t work with my clients”
“it’s too far”
“the flights are too long”
I kept coming up with excuses instead of solutions.
I finally decided to go for it and book my flight and now things are all falling into place!
I know, it’s just a time zone change but I think this is the way a lot of us act - we keep finding excuses and reasons why why can’t do the things we want to do when really... we can make anything work!
Is there anything you’ve always wanted to do that you’re making excuses for? Shift that mindset and start looking for solutions. Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
Reasons to go to Istanbul:
1. The Ubers are better than limos
2. There are cats everywhere
3. They have trendy cafes
.... that might be all it looks like from my stories 😅 but Istanbul is so full of art, friendly people, history, amazing food and such a cool and upbeat vibe. ✨
But most importantly, there are cats evvvverywhere! Swipe right to see how much they love me 😅
Excuse the overused/cliche quote here but... “your vibe attracts your tribe”. The funny thing is @fallon.travels and I have known each other since college but I don’t think either of us ever thought we would be friends, let alone traveling/coworking/living together!
We were both such different people back then with completely different goals and now that our goals are completely aligned, we’re on this journey together!
It’s so nice to have someone who understands your goals and is on the same page with you... just having someone to talk to bounce ideas off.
You might feel lonely and like no one gets you, but if you share your goals and intentions, you will undoubtedly connect with people who feel the same way.
Connection starts with communication! The deeper the communication, the deeper the connection. Open up and your tribe 💕 aaaand let us know if you want to join us cause we’ve got exciting plans for next year!
What do humans and lobsters have in common?
(hear me out here...)
Lobsters grow, but their shell doesn’t. After a while, the shell begins to become uncomfortable, and even painful... the new shells begins to grow under the old shell, but it’s not until the lobster reaches peak pain that it can shed the old shells to let the new one replace it.
Just like lobsters, we have to go through pain to grow... and pain is an indicator of growth. Times of stress, pressure or suffering are times of growth - and we can’t grow without that pain.
Pain and discomfort mean you’re growing... so just remember that whatever you’re going through, you’re growing out of that old shell and preparing for the new, bigger, and better shell.
Sometimes things don’t end up being what you hoped for - this whole “adulting” thing, a job, a trip, a relationship... dealing with disappointment is difficult, especially when you had high hopes and dreams
Just remember, it’s not an end all - if something didn’t turn out to be what you expected, you can always change courses. You’re not stuck anywhere, you CAN change your mind, you CAN accept that your goals, hopes and dreams didn’t turn out to be exactly what you wanted.
Autumn is coming, and just as the leaves change color and it’s time to harvest all those efforts, it’s also time to look back, analyze and determine what changes you need to make. Just remember that trees shed their leaves and start from 0 every spring yet they still bloom, and so can you!
The first time I fell in love with Croatia was when I spent a month sailing with a few complete strangers who quickly became family! 💕 I always talk about this, but if you want to travel slowly, experience local culture, save money and have an overall amazing experience, you have to check out workaway.info for work exchanges! That’s how I was able to travel soooo long before I figured out how to make money online.
Or if you want to have an all around amazing time in Croatia exploring the islands and get pampered along the way with outstanding service, dips in deserted bays, wine tasting and lunch on board, a sail with @hvaradventure is your best bet!
Today we have options - we can travel, we can see the world, we can secure a job across the country or even world... it’s an exciting time, and you’d think we would recognize this and be happier... but sometimes the problem with having options is that we become restless. We can’t settle, and we can’t feel fully satisfied.
Social media only adds to the problem - we scroll through others perfectly filtered versions of their lives and somehow feel inadequate in our unfiltered lives.
We get caught up in what we don’t have, thinking the grass is always greener. There’s always going to be greener grass somewhere, but instead of chasing that greener grass we should invest in watering our own grass. Enjoying the moment, finding peace & joy in what surrounds us. If you ever find yourself dreaming of the future, of another time or place or wondering when you’ll be happy next, being yourself back to the present moment and focus on what you have and how blessed you are to be alive & healthy. And if there’s anything to compare your grass to, it’s what *your* grass looked like yesterday!
These are the days that prove to us it’s all worth it - taking risks and working hard towards our dreams to create a life we don’t need a vacation from.
@fallon.travels and I may work double what others do, never clock out, and we might be taking a risk by not having a “normal job”, and we might spend most of our time on our laptops, but we can also say “let’s take Monday off and go sailing around Croatia, why not?!”
Loving what we do is part of the reason why don’t need to take days off... but I’m so glad we took the day off to go on this sailing adventure with @hvaradventure! We set sail early in the morning, took a nap under the sun, relaxed at a quiet bay, had an amazing lunch on board, and then got to go on a little tour all over Island Vis, learn about its history AND taste local wine before sailing back to Hvar. It was the perfect day off!
Sometimes you just have to take a break from it all and ride around a pink vw beetle with the top down!
We had so much fun getting out of Hvar town and exploring the rest of the island today!
Anyone else think @rapidus_rent.hvar should let me keep this ride?!
Everything will come to you at the right time. Trust yourself and trust the process. Focus on improving every day, on smiling, on putting more love and happiness into the world, on giving, on being the person who deserves what you want... and it will all come back to you! 🌞
Truth: I never leave home without a 15 pound backpack full of chargers, my laptop, wallet full of different currencies, water, my global WiFi device, nuts, 3 notebooks, pens and a bunch of other random things. Sometimes I wonder if it’s appropriate to bring my backpack and laptop to a bar or on a date.
Traveling, working and nomading is AMAZING, and I’ve seen SO much of the world in the past 2 years buuuut as with anything there’s always hard work and downsides to it! In my case, I never really “clock out” so I have to carry all these things around.
But hey, you always have to make sacrifices, and you just have to decide what sacrifices are worth it to YOU!
I’ll take a super heavy mobile office over a fixed office any day, but we’re all different! 💕
