I grew up in tropical Costa Rica, so snow is just about as exotic as it gets for me! ❄️ and this was my childhood dream come true! Have any of you guys gone sledding before?! It’s my new fav “sport”! 📸: @patfox88
What are you grateful for today? You don’t have to tell me, but take a moment to think about it. Starting the day with gratitude makes all the difference. Focus on all the reasons you have to smile - those are all the things that matter. Invest your time and energy in those things and watch your happiness continue to grow! 💕 While we’re on the topic of gratitude, I want to tell you all how thankful I am for all of you, especially those who support me and take the time to leave sweet comments, likes or dms. You guys always make my days! Thank you thank you! 📸: @kristynan
Don’t let all the smiles fool ya - I have my down days too. I cry (a lot), I get stressed, I talk down to myself and criticize myself, I worry about what others think, and I struggle with insecurities daily. We all do. I just want you to remember that it’s all natural and normal. You’re not alone in your struggles and there’s nothing wrong with you. No matter what’s going on in your life, or how tough the days get, remember that there’s light inside of you and you’re here to shine that light on the world. Every single one of us has something special - so try to focus on that today. Focus on the things that bring you up, the things that make you smile, and the things that others love about you. And don’t forget - you’re human just like everyone else.
Bali Vibes ✨ This island is everything I hoped it would be and more. I came here seeking rest, relaxation, community and inspiration... and what I found was so much more. I found peace, love, healing, and incredible people. Never in my life have I been surrounded by so many inspiring people. The locals inspire peace and harmony, and the the expats & travelers here are proof that anything is possible. The people who come here are doers - they’re the people who, instead of sitting and complaining, go out and do. They design a life they want to live, they build businesses that do good and bring freedom, but they also focus on wellness and self improvement. Bali was magical - it was everything I didn’t even know I needed. I came here exhausted, hurt and overworked... and I’m leaving here refreshed, inspired and excited for what’s to come! Huge thanks to every beautiful person I met here - you touched and inspired me more than you’ll ever know!
What’s the worst possible outcome? Ask yourself this next time that you find yourself letting the fear of failure hold you back. - Fear is natural - we’re wired to fear the unknown... but imagine if our ancestors let the fear of the unknown hold the back! Entire civilizations wouldn’t even exist! Would America have ever been “discovered”? Would pizza or tacos exist?! The greatest things we know come from those who overcame their fears and challenged themselves to achieve more! - Those fears your feel are natural, but don’t let them hold you back! - If you’re holding back from something, ask yourself what the worst possible outcome would be... and then remind yourself that even if you don’t succeed, you learn and your grow. - Every time we challenge ourselves and our comfort, we grow and become stronger and better. - Who’s ready to face challenges and fears this year in order to achieve more than they ever have?! 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
Instagram vs. Reality (swipe right) Just a little reminder for you guys - we’re all awkward af. Some of us just have awesome friends like @thedansaputra who will take 100 pictures of them until they find a winner. PS: anyone else need this adorable @sorbetscooters in their life?! I’m obsessed 😍
Say yes. . Say yes to dinner, say yes to strangers, say yes to nights out, say yes to mornings in, say yes to travel, say yes to spontaneous plans and say yes to life. . Yes opens doors - doors open opportunities, and opportunities can take you to places you never thought you’d end up. The possibilities are endless! You never know where that next “yes” could take you 😉
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” - Winston Churchill I think I speak for a lot of us when I say it feels so much better to give than to get. I have reached financial goals, earned and saved, but none of it feels truly satisfying. What does feel satisfying is to give... which is why I constantly work towards financial independence - because I want to have the freedom to do what I want without worrying about money. To me, financial independence means being able to give not just money, but time, which is much more valuable. If there’s anything I can help you with, please let me know, that’s what I’m here for! My blog & Instagram aren’t a source of income for me, but I enjoy providing value and talking to you guys about your goals and dreams! Remember I have lots of resources on location independence and remote work up on solspier.com 💕

Another year in the books! We did it, guys! We all went through different experiences this year, but we ALL had highs and lows, conquered fears, grew, learned, and came out stronger than we started! 💕 Remember those tough times? The tears? The times you thought you wouldn’t make it through? Well, you did! You killed it! 👊🏻 As the year comes to an end, it’s time to stop, reflect and give ourselves some love for everything we accomplished! Let’s celebrate those wins! 🙌🏻 TELL ME - what are you proud of yourself for? ✨ Personally, I’m proud of myself for leaving the comfort of a safe home and relationship to find myself and discover my passions! 12+ countries in 12 months and I barely recognize who I was 12 months ago!
Does anyone else love food waaaay too much?! 🙋🏼♀️ Of all the places I’ve been, Bali truly has the BEST food I’ve ever found! I have such a long list of food spots I’ll post on my blog soon - but this amazing spread is from @mywarung - their food is to dieeee for! If you go, be sure to leave space for their hummingbird cake 🙌🏻 📸 : @coreyrottenbucher
How often do you ask for what you want? Directly and clearly? Simple answer is ‘always’ - but is it true? Personally, I have always struggled to use my voice. Example: the other night I went for ice cream with someone I had just met and was clearly struggling on voicing my desire to change my milkshake order to a sundae order and the guy I was with said “Sol, use your voice, tell them what you want”. I instantly felt like a 5 year old and wondered what’s wrong with me? I shouldn’t need a stranger to coach me through being assertive. Later in our conversation about relationships where I mentioned a few repeated issues in past relationships, he asked, “did you ever ask for what you wanted?” It seems like such a simple solution but... no, no I had not ever directly asked for what I wanted. This got me thinking... most of DONT ask for what we want, at least not directly. We expect others to guess what we want... but our wants are probably pretty foreign to anyone but ourselves. The problem? If we don’t ask for what we want, we allow our needs to be misinterpreted and unmet. When this happens, we tend to blame others, when the only person to blame is ourselves. We then go into this cycle of indirect comments or resentment, when all of this could be solved by just being direct and voicing our needs. Ask for what you want. The reward is always greater than the risk.
Merry Christmas, everyone! 🎄 Even though I’m all the way in Bali, away from my family and having a completely non traditional Christmas, I still feel the holiday spirits! Everyone is happy, full of love and smiles... and even the Balinese are so welcoming of this holiday, saying “Merry Christmas!” with the biggest smile. I think it’s beautiful how tradition brings people together, regardless of their backgrounds! I was amazed to see Christmas decorations and hear Christmas songs in both Indonesia and Thailand, but it felt so homey! I hope that no matter where you are or who you’re with, you’re happy 🌞
Just remember: we’re all in this world together just trying to figure things out, and one kind word or smile can change someone’s entire day. 💕
I think the most important thing is to know and understand yourself. Before thinking about a career, your life path, or pursuing relationships. How can you be happy without knowing what truly makes you happy? My idea of happiness has changed throughout time - I’ve thought it was finding my “other half”, having a good job, making a good income, traveling the world, being a perfect partner, having a family... but this year I have found that my happiest moments are simple and they have absolutely nothing to do with anything besides my state of mind. It’s been the peacefulness of swimming in the ocean, watching a sunset, snuggling up and reading a book, drinking a warm tea... It’s not about money, it’s not about relationships, it’s not even about traveling the world which I thought was my source of happiness... it’s the simple things. I think so many of us get distracted by chasing things outside of ourselves or the dreams others have created for us, when what matters is feeling that inner peace and satisfaction. There are so many definitions of success & happiness, but the only one that matters is yours. Once you find it, try to think of ways to expand and increase that source of happiness and be open minded if you find that it contradicts what you’ve been after. We’re all a work in progress, but knowing ourselves is the most important step! 💡 I was recently convinced to take the Myers-Briggs personality test which was super interesting! I’m an INSFP (aka the adventurer). What are you?! Have you ever taken it? I’m curious! (You can take it at 16personalities.com)
If you look closely, you’ll notice that the baby Elly is actually stealing my bananas straight out of my purse! Spending time with these gentle giants was a dream come true, but also a huge eye opener. @maerimelephantsanctuary told us all about the cruelty that so many Ellys are subject to - between circuses, elephant labor and riding, there’s a lot of injustice that goes on. These two were rescued from a circus 😢 where they faced so much cruelty. Elephant sanctuaries like Mae Rim Elephant Sanctuary put so much effort (and money, it’s not cheap to rescue/buy or feed the elephants!) towards these guys. If you love Ellies, please be sure to do your research before visiting them to ensure that you are supporting an honest organization. Change starts with each and every one of us, and our actions DO make a difference! Swipe to see a close up video of these beauties!! 🐘
Funny story about this day - we agreed to take this cute bug for a spin and take some photos/videos for the owner but then @fallon.travels and I realized that it’s a manual car and neither of us can drive a manual... So I decided we would go talk to people on the island and try to recruit us someone who can drive a stick shift. We went up to so many random people who were probably thought we were weirdos 😂 But we finally met @alexmediastudio and convinced him to drive for us! It was really fun... until the car stopped working in the middle of nowhere... we tried everything and it wouldn’t start... so we had to roll down from the highest point on the island all the way down to the bottom 😂
