Advanced #silvanerstudy#sylvanerstudy one of approximately 350 bottles produced per year from 600 ungrafted vines that are over 130 years old. A filigreed wine of unrivaled heights with this grape. (Not sure I agree with the screw cap closure). Shared with @squintingcyclops Paired with one of my favorite Tribe records in anticipation of the @nowagain / Rappcats Phil Ranelin popup!
I accepted my invitation to @edgrapenutzimm and @leviopenswine’s amazing #whiteburgundystudy (it was a very serious study-they flew in a geologist!) that was intended to focus on Meursault-Genevriéres and Perrièrres after many wines had been selected and I had nothing to offer that was not already in the line up from those crus. So offered up a Montrachet as a study in contrast (secretly I really wanted to bring a Keller GG). Well it worked this wine generated much discussion some loved it and others were not impressed. Interestingly this was a riesling like Montrachet that what light, focused, mineral, white pepper, lemon that really evolved in the glass. One of the lighter wines of the night but one of the most complex. Lafon only has .32 hectare of very old vines in Montrachet so these are hard to come by. Given the evolution in the glass I hope to try this wine again in 10 years.
Tuesday evening with @leviopenswine and @edgrapenutzimm - I decided no more bottle shots (or record shots) without a description. Had to make an exception for this evening. #whiteburgundy#whiteburgundystudy
