Iranian Vs Persian
The terms Iranian and Persian are often used interchangeably to describe people from Iran, and some people think they mean the same thing, but is one term correct? The terms “Persian” and “Iranian” don’t necessarily mean the same thing. Some people draw a distinction in that Persian relates to a particular ethnicity, and being Iranian is a claim to a certain nationality. Thus, a person could be one without being the other.
The Revolution of 1979
Citizens weren't called Persian after the revolution of 1979, during which the country’s monarchy was deposed and an Islamic Republic government was put in place. The king, who was considered to be the last Persian monarch, fled the country in exile. Today, some consider “Persian” to be an old term that harkens back to the former days of monarchy, but the term still has cultural value and relevance. Thus, Iran is used in the context of political discussion, while both Iran and Persia are used in cultural context.

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.
Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.
It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, & to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever kno

On this first day of summer, pups deserve to live joyously by enjoying simple moments like the breeze on their face during a car ride. Unfortunately, not all dogs have this same fate.
Today, the Yulin Dog Meat Festival begins in China where over 10,000 dogs, many of them being stolen pets, will be brutally slaughtered for their meat over the next 10 days. As an animal-loving, cruelty-free and vegan company, we want to take a stand and we need your help.
Starting now you'll see a option on the shopping bag page that allows you to donate $1 to @hsiglobal’s efforts in stopping the dog meat trade. For every donation made by a customer, we ourselves will donate $1. Join us in protecting our furry friends! Donations to Humane Society International are available until Saturday June 30th, 2018.
The UN has condemned the US for human rights violations – and it's not holding back.⠀
The United States will withdraw from the U.N. Human Rights Council, an entity it has long accused of being biased against Israel and giving cover to rights-abusing governments, the Trump administration announced on Tuesday. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, announced the decision, a move that essentially reverts the U.S. to the stance it took during the George W. Bush administration, which declined to join the council. Haley and Pompeo‘s announcement came a day after the U.N.’s human rights chief, in a speech to the council, criticized President Donald Trump’s immigration policy decisions that have led his administration to separate families apprehended after entering the U.S. illegally. “For too long the Human Rights Council has been a protector of human rights abusers and a cesspool of political bias,“ Haley said. @apnews
