Spending my birthday in the gorgeous city of Savannah, GA.
.
Walking the beautiful historic bridges of Factor’s Walk. It was the Cotton Exchange of Savannah in the 1800s and is nicknamed the Wall Street of the South.
.
Where I stand now was once where the importers stood and watched over all the cotton warehouses.
.
I learned so much on our walking tour in Savannah. If you want to learn the real history of Savannah, you must take the walking tour with Noble Jones Tours. We went on a two hour walk throughout the historic district of Savannah. We sat in parks, stopped for iced tea and learned all about Savannah.

MUST TRY RESTAURANT IN NYC!
.
I’m at my happiest with tacos and margaritas. And when it comes to Mexican cuisine, there’s only a few restaurants I trust.
.
When I heard of @Mexicue, I knew I had to try it. They’re the only place in the city that I know of that sells fried avocado tacos, OMG!
.
And talk about passion, they started out as a food truck and now one of the cutest restaurants in the city with authentic Mexican dishes topped with a southern twist. Plus, everyone knows tacos from taco trucks are better than any five star restaurants 😂👌🏼
.
Lovely ambience with cute plants, soft lighting to make it a perfect date spot. Their food is affordable and absolutely delicious. My favorites are the fried avocado tacos and the grapefruit margaritas. I couldn’t have enough!!
.
If you’re in NYC, this is definitely a must-try restaurant. Check them out @Mexicue 🌮

HOW TO TAKE YOUR OWN PICTURES WHEN TRAVELING ALONE?
.
It’s always tough to have your own pictures taken when you travel alone. Sometimes you ask other tourists or people around to take them but 90% of those don’t come out as you want. Either the picture comes out blurry or you’re missing an arm in the frame. 🙄 So how do you get your own pics taken that are instaworthy?
.
Well as the saying goes, if you want something done right, then do it yourself! When I travel alone, I usually carry a tripod and a remote shutter with me. It’s a pain in the neck, literally, but it is worth it in the end.
.
First, set up your tripod and adjust the shot the way you want it, then get in front of the camera, pose, and click the shutter remote. This takes a few tries at times because you don’t know what you’re clicking. Sometimes you’re out of the frame and sometimes the focus and lighting aren’t the best. But once you’ve nailed it down, Viola! You’ll have a great picture you took on your own!
.
If you’re not extra like me and don’t want to carry around a tripod, your best bet is to ask others to take your pictures for you. You’re guaranteed to find other tourists around and you can always ask them politely. The trick here is, ask someone who is carrying a DSLR and/or tripod. They know what they’re doing and if you explain how you want your shot taken, they are well suited to make it happen!
.
How do you take your shots?! Do you carry around a tripod?! Tell me in the comment section. ☺️

ISN’T IT WEIRD TRAVELING ALONE?
.
This is the one question I get asked the most. And my answer is always, “Absolutely not!” But I can see why this may be a concern.
.
I have very recently learned that you don’t need anyone to travel. As a single woman and an honest introvert with not many friends, I always struggled to find the right people to accompany me on vacations. It’s either your schedules don’t match, or even if you plan to travel, you want to do completely different things on your trip.
.
I postponed traveling for many years of fear that I wouldn’t be able to do it alone. What worried me then was that I will go somewhere, and feel uncomfortable exploring alone and end up just staying in my hotel room.
.
But I’ve learned that traveling alone can be the most exhilarating thing you can ever do in your life! When I look back now, I regret delaying my solo travels for this long. Now even when I’m alone in an unknown place, I didn’t feel lonely at all.. in fact I love it! All hail the hermit life! 🦀
.
Traveling alone offers a vast amount of 'me' time which is very beneficial to the soul. You get to organize your thoughts, goals and prioritize yourself over anything the world throws at you.
.
Not only is it fun, but it will also helps you grow as a person and be more confident. My travels have not only empowered me, but also uplift me and add definition to my personality. It is when I am alone that I am curious and open-minded. This is the best combination for self-discovery and self-improvement.
.
Have you traveled alone before? How did it make you feel and would you do it again? Tell me all about it 🤗

Because Mangos are life! ☀️
.
The most exciting thing about visiting a new country is trying their local fruits. When I planned my trip to Costa Rica I researched and made a list of locals I wanted to try in Costa Rica. Passion fruits, Guanadillas, Guanabana, Corombolas and Guabas were some that made my ‘must try’ list.
.
I made sure I got to try each of the fruits on my list and more. But I was happiest to have some mangos. Nothing like a freshly plucked mango from a tree, even when it’s not ripe.
.
We stopped by a gift and souvenir shop after one of our daily excursions. A beautiful little shop that looked like it could be someone’s house. It had an adorable backyard with two little bicycles and a small area with benches for guests. And to my surprise, there was also a mango tree.
.
I loved mangoes when I was a kid. I used to climb and pluck from mango trees all the time. So when I saw a chance to relive my childhood, I couldn’t contain myself. I ran back into the store and requested the owner to let me pick a few mangoes. He happily agreed and suggested I eat them with salt. I ran back out and gathered a few mangos to took back to the resort.
.
Folks there is no better joy than eating a fruit you’ve plucked on your own. Sadly I am not privileged to do this in New York but when I get a chance to do so on my travels, I surely do not miss. ❤️

All happy and ready to brunch ☀️💕

Marching to my own beat 💕
.
We are enslaved to the thought that worldly wealth gives us the freedom to be whoever we want and whatever we do in life. Its a nice cushion, but freedom? I think not.
.
In reality, it’s an enslavement that leashes us to an everlasting hunger for a better salary, higher position and more luxuries. The dreams of a better tomorrow prison us in a small cubicle from 9 to 5 and even overtime.
.
I’m not saying that riches of this world are not pleasurable, they are. But they bind us to an addiction that is euphoric and yet deadly to the soul. It’s not real happiness, real freedom. You can be the richest person in the world and yet be miserable.
.
I’ve been thinking of this a lot lately, especially since the death of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain. Kate Spade was one of my favorite designers and Bourdain, well he was an inspiration for everything I wanted to be. But no matter how successful, how wealthy, we all have our inner demons to deal with.
.
For many years, I lived my life caring too much about what makes others happy and less of what makes me happy. This is my demon. But the fact of life is that you can’t please everyone. The moment I came to the reality of this, I felt a burden lifted.
.
What are your demons? Whatever they are, they all take place in the same womb of fear of loss. Let the burden of pleasing the world go! Let go of comparing yourself to the world and trying to the best at everything. You can’t be.
.
Keep yourself a pure heart, keep your morals, but let go the urge to pleasing everyone. Learn to make yourself happy, practice self love, and move to your own damn beat. 💕

A little bit of sunshine in my life 😊☀️
.
I didn’t know what to write about today. Soooo (drumroll please 🥁), I decided to answer some of your questions today. A lot of you DM me asking questions about my life and unfortunately I can’t respond to all. So today I am answering your questions here. 🤗💕
.
Are you a traveler, blogger, photographer, etc? Professionally, no. These are just few of my hobbies that I enjoy and share with you all here.
.
Are you Indian? Yes, 100%. I was born in India and moved to New York when I was 13 years old.
.
What do you do for living? I am a paralegal and my background is in Immigration law.
.
How do you afford to travel? It’s a vicious cycle of work, save, travel, repeat. I will also write a more detailed post about this and how I first started to travel.
.
When did you start traveling? I always loved the idea of traveling but couldn’t muster up the courage to do it alone. Finally a year ago, I decided to let go of my fears and go for it. I am very glad I did so. Now I prefer to travel alone above anything else.
.
Where will you travel to next? I have a few countries next on my bucket list. Portugal, Spain, Iceland and Indonesia to name a few. I am not sure which one will be first though ☺️
.
I think thats all I have for now. Is there anything else you’d like to know about me? Comment below and I will answer 💕 📷: @jenniferguillen1

I was quite surprised to find an outdoor jacuzzi in our room. I noticed that all the rooms at the resort had their own outdoor jacuzzi either in the balcony or their garden.
.
I was puzzled. The resort owns one of the largest and most magnificent pools I’ve ever seen. The beach is also just 2 minutes away. So why would anyone use the jacuzzi?!
.
But soon it all made sense, the jacuzzi was strategically placed there just for introverts like me. If you know me personally, you know how much I love my space and alone time. I am friendly person but I don’t like being in crowds.
.
I was constantly surrounded by other people at the beach, the pools, the restaurants, the tours and practically everywhere. By the third day I was craving some peace and quiet for myself.
.
It was a sunny afternoon and staying cool in the jacuzzi was an opportunity too perfect to pass. So I decided to spend a few hours in solitude and recharge. A few flowers, incense, a cold drink was all I needed.
.
I called room service to request a few flowers for my bath. Instead, they graciously sent someone to guide me through the gardens and help pick the flowers I liked. I picked a bunch of jasmines for scent and a few other flowers for their pretty color.
.
So in the end, I sprinkled a few sprinkled flowers in the jacuzzi, burned incense, poured me a cold glass of fresh juice and enjoyed the quiet time I so well craved. Good on you @dreamslasmareas for granting me the perfect afternoon that I needed 🤗💕

I don’t like staying in resorts. When I travel to a foreign country, I like to be out with the locals so I can experience the culture of the city.
.
When I went to Costa Rica though, I chose a resort for the first time. I stayed at the @dreamslasmareas in Guanacaste.
.
If you’re going to stay in a resort, I think it’s important to pick one that has more than just luxury to offer. A good resort should have enough activities to help their guest divulge in the art, history and culture the place has to offer.
.
I didn’t stay in the resort much but for when I did, I made sure to fill my schedule with activities. One of my favorites was the cocktail lessons. I learned a few cocktail mixes and I can’t wait to try them at home.🍸😋

Enjoy a relaxing swim in the thermal hot springs of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano 🌋
.
At this point we had been up since 6AM and after hours spent water sliding, hiking, zip lining, horseback riding, this was exactly what my body needed.
.
We were offered warmed volcanic mud to lather up and enjoy a few minutes in the warm relaxing sun. After the mud had dried, we washed it off and jumped into one of the many thermal hot spring pools.
.
My skin felt so soft after this, I couldn’t believe it. Volcanic mud is full of minerals that detoxifies and heals the skin. It works wonders on the inside as well by improving the pH balance and circulation in our bodies. It is also known to heal pains and aches in the body. Indeed it was a rejuvenating experience that I would go back for again and again 😊

Nothing better than spending a quiet afternoon in the Jacuzzi. I’m very OCD about things, like sharing a pool with strangers, using the same glass as others and using hotel towels!
.
The resort I stayed in was very clean and their towels were pretty trustworthy in my opinion. But I always pack my own, just in case. Sadly packing a towel usually takes up a lot of space and weight in a carry on.
.
Luckily, I found the perfect solution to my madness with @jupiterandglory Their microfiber towels are perfectly compact, light weight and so pretty!! 😍 And now that vacation time is over, I can also use it as a gym towel. 😊
