“We must become so alone, so utterly alone, that we withdraw into our innermost self.
_____________________
It is a way of bitter suffering.

But then our solitude is overcome, we are no longer alone, for we find that our innermost self is the spirit, that it is God, the indivisible.

And suddenly we find ourselves in the midst of the world, yet undisturbed by its multiplicity, for our innermost soul we know ourselves to be one with all being.” — Hermann Hesse

“I had a dream, which was not all a dream.

The bright sun was extinguish'd, and the stars did wander darkling in the eternal space, rayless, and pathless, and the icy earth swung blind and blackening in the moonless air; morn came and went—and came, and brought no day.” — Lord Byron

“Life is tragic simply because the earth turns and the sun inexorably rises and sets, and one day, for each of us, the sun will go down for the last, last time.

Perhaps the whole root of our trouble, the human trouble, is that we will sacrifice all the beauty of our lives, will imprison ourselves in totems, taboos, crosses, blood sacrifices, steeples, mosques, races, armies, flags, nations, in order to deny the fact of death, the only fact we have.

It seems to me that one ought to rejoice in the fact of death--ought to decide, indeed, to earn one's death by confronting with passion the conundrum of life.

One is responsible for life: It is the small beacon in that terrifying darkness from which we come and to which we shall return.” — James Baldwin

“The love of wilderness is more than a hunger for what is always beyond reach; it is also an expression of loyalty to the earth, the earth which bore us and sustains us, the only paradise we shall ever know, the only paradise we ever need, if only we had the eyes to see.” — Edward Abbey

It’s my birthday, and although I still feel like a teenager, in the eyes of the law I am now one year older.

It’s been a wild sinuous journey, and I often forget about all the stops and detours that I’ve been through to get to this day. Quite honestly I’m surprised that I’ve made it so far down the road, but all the while overjoyed that I’m breathing and lusting after further adventures and inevitable progression.

Though my exterior has weathered through the years, deep down I’m still that curious kid in the Batman tee with an insatiable sweet tooth, all the while wishing I had my brother’s kickass hologram Ghostbusters shirt.

“Life moves on, whether we act as cowards or heroes. Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it, than to accept life unquestioningly.
