The SEER helps us to heal the past, release what is not ours to hold, and call back the potent life force energy that we all have locked in the undigested experiences of the past. The Phoenix Process supports us to get to the roots of our unexamined assumptions or stories about how we are and how life is. It helps us to see and learn to accept that so often, what we experience as adults being done to us is actually what we are unconsciously doing to others. This is not about blame but about responsibility and freedom. Through our connection to the unbroken, we can find the courage, the power, and the faith to release ourselves from the stories of the past
Here is another paragraph from my book Jaguar in the body butterfly in the heart. It speaks about an exercise i did with one of my teachers named Manas:
"‘These cushions represent everything and everyone you feel angry with, including your father. Every now and then, rage is a good thing. Begin.’ For the first five minutes, I struggled as Manas encouraged me to find my strength and my voice and beat the cushions. Nothing was happening. I just felt stupid and embarrassed. I didn’t have the heart for it and I was certain that Gandhi had never had to resort to such methods. But I did what I was asked and Manas kept encouraging me. ‘Go on, that’s good. Feels good, doesn’t it?’
Intention, imagination, dreams, wanting more from life, from ourselves, for ourselves, for others and for the world are all important and natural aspects of being a growing human being. Take a moment to think of all the amazing inventions and seemingly impossible intentions we have witnessed over the past two centuries alone. Whether you think of the use of electricity, the invention of the bicycle or the crumbling of the Berlin Wall, they all happened because someone dared to dream, to imagine something that did not yet exist and to apply themselves to creating it.
Talking of sex, here’s tonight’s dinner plate after eating food entirely from our garden or our own hunting 🦌 and gathering. Feeling so blessed - today I started part 4 of my new book, ‘Shaman.’ Part 4 is called ‘The Imaginary Key.’ It’s so intense writing this one. In Susannah’s words, it’s turning me inside out 😂 Sending you all summer love. And finally, 27 years ago today, our son @reuben_dk was born. Today life is nowt but blessings. Sending out the summer lovin’ vibe whatever’s dreaming you. YDK 🐆🦋🌍💚
Relationship has come to be the most fertile ground for my spiritual practice, and naturally, most especially with my beloved wife and partner in the creation and destruction dance that is marriage over a long period of time. Over the past thirty years, we have fought and hurt each other. We have missed the most basic steps in care and kindness. We have, from a place of wounding and mistrust, added more reasons to close down, turn away and leave with the bitter taste of blame on our tongues. And yet we have stayed. Deep down, from the very first second we laid eyes on each other and recognised each other, though we know not where from, we have known that this commitment is a forever thing.
