Today marks my first full year of eating plant-based/vegan. Getting over the bodybuilding mindset of needing all of the animal protein in order to gain muscle was difficult. I realized that being healthy is far more important to me than gaining as much muscle or weight that I could. I peaked at around 200lbs while still holding onto visible abs, but I was eating complete garbage. Cheese, fried meat, and food low in nutrients but high in the protein. I thought that I needed such high amounts of protein all the time. The thing that is the most alarming is that I thought I was healthy. I looked like I was in shape and for me, I convinced myself i was actually healthier than most people while not realizing that I was  internally just as sick as the rest of the people eating garbage processed food. Overall, I am completely happy I actually took the time to look into the food I was putting in my body and how it affects my overall health. Choosing to eat the way I do now has had countless benefits and I look forward to continuing my journey.
