Very very slowly making progress on #burda110x062017 Thank you all for your thoughtful messages on my last post. I read them all and I will reply but in baby steps. It really hit me hard when I was not looking
Thank you all again for being an amazing supportive community ❤️
My Eli, my heart... I am trying so hard to find the words to tell you what I feel, but I can’t... I just wish you stayed with me forever. So let’s just put some loud music on
and jump up and down like crazy and with every wag of your tail there’ll be magic dust filling the room with happiness. The house is so empty now. I miss you so much. ... and when you see your friend Cookie, put a paw on his head like you used to and give him a kiss from me.
I’m sure heaven has wonderful rivers.
I love you.
So, how is my sewing week going 😊: I finished the BurdaStyle dress (almost, I still need to attach the waist stay - yup I ended up with a waist stay + bra clips 😑) I finished the denim skirt. It still needs a button and the rivets attached, but in my book that is finished 😂 I made the dress version of the top I published last week, here pictured. It’s charcoal silk cotton blend 😉. I cut in stretch herringbone denim my second pair of Persephone pants - that took a while because I needed to tweak the pattern 🤓 It seems I’m not gonna be able to make the Trend Patterns oversized sleeve top 😒 but I’ll try to squeeze in another Basic InstincT in white “filo di scozia”, that is Lisle yarn (two ply, long staple, double mercerized cotton knitted into a very fine grade jersey with unique characteristics of brilliance, softness, silky hand known for maintaining these characteristics over time 😌) Now I need to go back to sewing the Persephone! Have a nice weekend guys 😘
Ps: it’s raining... now that we (me and Eli) finally go on a vacation 😡
It’s not weird to wear a gutterman cotton drafting muslin right? With white serging inside cause changing the serger thread seemed to much work 😂 ... and I had no idea if fit and proportions would be right.
This morning’s drafting & sewing worn with white pants cause in the poll they were clearly ahead. I’m thinking this would look cool with the black pants if I wear it with the tie in front. (👀 stories) Now I need to make the dress version, in viscose georgette 😉
Have a nice weekend guys 😘
I have an entire free week at home and plan to go through my sewing queue: I want to finish the Burda dress, a white denim skirt, the dress version of this one, a trend patterns top, and another pair of Persephone 🤞
... continued from my previous post: this is what I wore last Sunday 😉 I can definitely do squats in these but the next pair needs to be a size smaller Although this fabric a linen silk blend, is light wight and has a lot of give, I want to be sure I get the full wedgie look 😏
The party skirt made it on the blog! Go read
As for #memadefriday there’s nothing to show you cause today I just refused to leave my home ... to darn hot!
Have a nice weekend guys 😘
No #sundaystitching ... been busy doing the photographer at a friends’s wedding (note the flash😆) ... and of course this is the only picture of me 😂
Wearing my Gucci silk #memade top, just finished #persephonepants 😉 in linen silk blend canvas ( it’s love, guys) and Prada shoes ... yeah essentially a work outfit. You can’t see much of it but I will post the better selfie I took this morning 😉😘
Although forty(ish) 😳my party goblin ain’t dead yet ... and it needs party clothes 😂! Just took some quick snaps for the blog before going out for drinks ... hopefully sometime next week I’ll b able to tell you more about this @burda_style skirt ... I’m trying to change my schedule (not that I have one 😑) and to figure out which day to publish... give a girl a hand and chime in with your favorite day and time to read blogs 🙏 ... in the meantime have a nice weekend lovelies 😘
In progressssss: Side zipper #diyskirt 102-08/2017 #burdastyle .... with really long zipper that needs trimming: I feel it’s a bit of a waste but it’s the only zipper length with metal teeth the haberdashery downstairs carries 😣 ... no matter, I will recoup the leftovers and use them as trims 😉
... continued from my previous post: this is the leg cut I ended up with. I started up with huge cuffs but the fabric is so stiff, it’s cotton hemp blend and it looked like I wore two cardboard tubes ... not good 🙈 then I cropped them but they were neither here or there... so I slimmed them to, kamm rangers style - the weird ankle skimping length. I tried them all with all (or most of ) my shoes of course... maximize use you know. I love that these work well with my favorite kind of shoe: the ankle strapped ones . I am sort of convinced the straps make my ankles look thinner... cause I’m superficial like that. I paired my new old jeans with a raw silk top I made some years ago. I like denim paired with silk ... even if it’s ton sir ton ;) Have a nice weekend guys! 😘
... so this is the result of my jeans refitting project! (front & back view in story) ... Basically I got these Levi’s 501 in cotton hemp blend some years ago as a present and they never fitted me right ... on the contrary, although they were my size, they gave me camel toe, diaper butt and muffin top 🙈- in my opinion it was because they sat on my high hip where they were too tight while on the low hip they were decidedly too big. Yeah a totally different body type. 😑So I just lowered the crotch! ... by almost 2in total 😳 . I managed to make the topstitching look virtually the same as the original but lost the lapped seams. They were too difficult to make after all the cutting and whatnot so now I have topstitched serged seams.
I’m pretty chuffed with how they fit now but I feel I need to do something with the leg cause I think it’s boring... I’m considering sliming and cropping to a kamm ranger pant type of cut 🤔 What say you?!
