Wine flights are needed after driving 3,500km in 4 days . I tried three whites, four reds and I was not disappointed. A bar that offers flights makes my life so exciting 1) I get to try a few wines in small portions without committing to a full glass and 2) it helps with my WSET tasting and 3) it puts more wines in my repertoire! Great recommendation for The Commons at The Forks Market in Winnipeg, Manitoba! I will be back for sure🍷
@peters_33 & I braved Old Town Quebec City this morning in -30°C & I captured a photo of the famous @fairmontfrontenac ! Being able to see famous landmarks, architecture & landscapes that I’ve grown up seeing in photos is one of the most surreal and amazing parts about traveling for me! This one has been on my bucket list for a long time and now it’s checked off! Next time we visit I hope to wine & dine & discover more about this beautiful city!🍷
I said goodbye to this beautiful woman last night. The last two years in New Brunswick would have been a lot lonelier without her. It’s so damn hard to make genuine friends in this world, someone who allows you to be your raw self with no judgement and sticks by you through it all. She is that friend for me. I will miss all the wine nights, the adventures, binge watching TV shows on our couches, and just doing life together. Thank you for your friendship @arwood_95 . I’ll be seeing you💕🍷
I am a sucker for a nice BC Pinot Gris. The good ones are always dry, crisp, fruity with a nice minerality! This Pinot Gris from @perseuswine was no exception. I’ve had my eye on this one to try for awhile by being away from BC hindered me until this Christmas! It was definitely worth the wait 🍷
I love this crazy family of mine 💕 On really hard days (like today) I know I can always count on them to support us through listening ears, encouragement, laughter and prayer. I am truly blessed.
Sabre sparkling wine with a butter knife? Check! We really enjoyed sabering with different tools last night! A Tomahawk, a throwing knife, a butter knife, and a wine glass were all successfully used! It was a great night with even greater company! 🍾
Cheers to 2019 and many exciting changes! I was blessed this holiday season with family, friends, food and of course, bubbly for celebrations!🥂 This particular glass of sparkling was bought when my hubby and I went on a double date with my sister and her [now] fiancé (!) to the beautiful Canyon Lights at Capilano. This sparkling was made from Pinot Noir in British Columbia. Although it was not my favourite I drank this Christmas, it was bearable. I found the bubbles a little harsh, the flavour was a bit dark and more earthy than the red fruit I was expecting. I like my bubbly to be light, with smooth bubbles & a refreshing flavour profile. It was still good enough to drink but I have other sparkling wine in my repertoire that I would choose over this one again!
This 2015 Gamay from Robin Ridge blew me away. I was expecting a lighter body & was surprised with medium body! There was so much rich blackberry, cherry, a hint of liquorice and spice. The acid was nicely balanced. This wine was all around so pleasant to drink, by itself & with food! Safe to say I am taking advantage of having so much BC wine at my fingertips and trying different wineries & varietals every chance I can!🍷
Three years ago we went to Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge just newly dating. Yesterday we visited again, this time with a lot more history between us. My husband has been my rock the last three years and it’s surreal to think of where we came from to where we are now. I am beyond excited to start over again in the Fraser Valley. We are coming back to a place we both call ‘home’. We have to leave BC for a few weeks to tie up lose ends in New Brunswick and drive across the country (EEK!). But I’m so excited to say in a month we will be home, and home to stay 💕
During the busyness of the holidays, it is important to remember to rest, to be still. I’m not very good at doing either of those things! I have the tendency to go, go, go! Last night was a night full of friendship, laughter, wine & very relaxing and restful at the same time. To have people who bring peace, joy, and laughter to your life; who fill you up and who love and support you (and you them) makes all the difference! I hope you all were surrounded by loving family and friends this season 💕
The perfect gift from my parents was more paraphernalia for my wine, cheese & charcuterie nights! I’m so excited to dive in to this book and put my new cheese board to good use!! *not pictured is the wine that will obviously be going with these wonderful items* 🍷❤️
Merry Christmas Eve! This week is full of Christmas and birthday festivities in my family so I’m pulling out different sparkling wines because they are YUMMY, they go with everything and they have a way of making you feel fancy. I’m looking forward to trying this Cava. I’m hoping I’ll find the fruit flavours I love in sparkling (apple, citrus) and some toasty almond notes. Notes to follow in my story once this bottle is popped! 🍾
Christmas trees as far as the eye can see🎄 Christmas tree “shopping” at the tree farm was so much fun. There were so many to choose from and our family had a blast running around, laughing and judging all the trees. It was a different experience than us living on the farm and going out to our backyard and just choosing a little Charlie Brown tree! Now the whole house smells like pine! Merry Christmas everyone!
Amidst the wine & food I also LOVE my coffee. We discovered a cute coffee shop (@decadescoffeeclub ) in my new town and this sign rang true to the company I was keeping. Blessed by the lovely @chantelyvonne every day 💕
Brunch at @littlebrotherbrunch did not disappoint. Lovely selection of food and delicious sparkling wine ! 🍾 . Shared with the lovely @juliebulawka . Thankful for three years of authentic conversation over coffee and food💕
For the first night back in BC we opened the Kismet Mantra blend. It was perfect to sip by the freshly decorated tree with my family. This wine had a good balance of acidity and tannins that adds to the bold flavours and full bodied nature of the Mantra. There were flavours of dark fruit (blackberry), a nicely spiced herb (undetermined - oops!), and some great oak notes of tobacco. This was a great wine to start off the Christmas season! 🍷
Cheers to laughter, to a wonderful friendship, to opportunities and growth, to “see you laters” and not “goodbyes” but most of all — cheers to you my darling friend. I could not have gotten through 2018 without you! 🍾💕
Even though it’s winter I still find myself gravitating to white wine! Between the heavy reds and bubbly I’m really loving right now I need a good white for balance! 🍷 This white was a Grenache Blanc-Roussanne blend. It was so crisp and dry with an amazing acidity. Tasting notes include - citrus, apples and pears with a nice minerality. I wish I had another bottle of this one 🍷
