We’re visiting family and they loved the #hibiscus loose tea mix I brought with me.  So we went to a local tea shop and created this beautiful batch of our very own #hibiscustea mix. 
They were able to see how simple it is to make your own loose tea mix as well as how simple it will be to make their own medicinal tea infusion mixes.  I’m always stoked to inspire healthy tips. 🤘

Burgers con veggies... and a dog nose!  No, the dog didn’t get a burger, but he was definitely hoping for one. 💫 When I make burgers, I like to cook down and add some veggies & I use rice or quinoa as the filler, rather than bread crumbs.  The second picture shows the cooked down veggies (some I need to use up before they go bad...): onion, chives, a green onion, and shredded carrot & zucchini. 💫 We eat the burgers sans bread, so either on its own with a fork, or wrapped in Romain lettuce.

My daughter’s birthday is coming up, and we’re going basic on the birthday treat for school - chocolate chip cookies. 🍪 I like to use a nice, dark flour (rather than a bleached white flour), because it gives the cookie so much more flavor.  For these I used a spelt flour.  And I always use less sugar than the recipe suggests. 🍪 I’ve recently started the trick of balling the dough, and then putting the tray in the freezer before the bake.  The freezing helps the cookies to bake more evenly - the center can fully bake without the edges burning or getting too crispy.  Works like a charm for perfectly baked cookies. 🎉 👑 🎂 🎊

We got a new porch on the house and it’s perfect for sun tea.  Here I’ve got a Hibiscus Cooler soaking in the sun.  The tea blend also has lemon balm, oat straw, orange peel and rose buds in it.  So we get a fun red drink that looks like juice, but is full of minerals and medicinal properties, rather than a bunch of sugars. 🌺 In the second picture you can see how I strained the tea, and how red the liquid gets. Here’s the table I had set up for my class @womenshealingconf - I had samples of herbs for tasting and looking, as well as tea and liquid echinacea for sale. 🌟 We started the class of with shots of Adrenal Tonic (@mediherbusa ) - just because they’re fun.  And then I discussed the whys and hows of a nutrient dense diet, cooking with broth, and the importance of a strong immune system.  The best part was sharing ideas and showing the samples of medicinal herbs that can be used in cooking to build immunity.  Because really, using #foodasmedicine to build a strong foundation of immunity is what it’s all about!  A strong immune makes life so much easier.

Quick snapshot of the #dutchbabypancake I made for breakfast today.  I’ve been in a rut with quick, no cook breakfasts- but they’re never warm.  And who doesn’t love a warm breakfast... This was fairly easy - mixing all the ingredients in the blender makes prep quick.  And with 3 eggs, whole milk, & only 1/2 a cups of a spelt flour, it’s a #nutrientdense food.  I added cinnamon, cardamom & lemon zest for added flavor, and offered fruit on the side. And know that the secret of the dutch baby pancake is in the #castironskillet and lots of butter!

Last night’s dinner was simple & delicious.  I’ve gotten so that I make a larger quantity of something delicious so that we can eat it for a couple of days, and I’m not concerned if the foods don’t necessarily match.  I mean - I wouldn’t intentionally pair risotto with cole slaw, but they went great together.  This way we can have a greater variety of foods on the daily, which means a greater variety of veggies & phytonutrients on the daily.  Without me having to cook for hours every day.  And, if someone doesn’t like a certain food, s/he will have an option for something else to eat. ✨ Featured food: precooked rotisserie chicken, lemon & garlic green beans, onion risotto, & a purple cole slaw.

Crunchy roasted veggies with a fried rice flavor - this was a hit!  Cauliflower, broccoli, parsley, & chives, not baked for too long to keep it crunchy & fresh tasting.  Seasoning in order from the most to least amounts: sesame oil, tamari sauce, rice vinegar, and a couple of drops of toasted sesame oil.
