Last night at #jazzinjune. Payton did so well around all the other crazy dogs! She even ignored a little Boston terrier running past us (she notoriously goes for little dogs). We made sure to keep to the edges and I advocated for her my making space away from the nutty dogs. Reactive dogs CAN be out and about enjoying life with you - they just need you to be a strong leader who they implicitly trust to handle sketchy situations. The only way to develop that trust is by going out and doing it! #rootsk9 #balancedtraining #haveyouwalkedyourdogtoday #dogsofokc #dogsofnorman #dogsinoklahoma #dogsofinstagram #dogtrainerlife

Can women have it all? A balanced, well behaved dog AND a trim lawn? You decide.

Joshing around with Payton last night. Changing up speeds and energy to keep her guessing. Getting ready to drop the leash and “go live” on her off leash her. I am loving this focus!

For a dog that feels the need to handle things, #placecommand is just what the doctor ordered. This is where I condition relaxation and calmness in the house. It’s so nice to have your dog be able to chill and calm down while you work. #dogsofnorman #dogsofokc #balancedtraining #rootsk9 #changeyourdogchangeyourlife
Congrats to Lily’s family! After six weeks of hard work, they now have an #everywheredog, biting NOT included. 😊💯❤️ #dogsofnorman

ending our focused session with some #placecommand in the air conditioning. You did a good job today Payton. Passed by a few dogs with no reactions!

Rawr. Got a firecracker in for Board & Train today. Currently her owner can’t really walk her safely due to these outbursts around other dogs. Interestingly enough, when I took the dog and handled her she didn’t give the same reaction. A little stare, and that was it. No meltdown. I sort of expected this might happen so I made sure to get a video of the owner handling the dog for posterity’s sake. My take is that this dog is terrified of other dogs, barks and puts on a giant show to get them to back up and to get herself “rescued” from the situation. During her stay here, we will not only set expectations for behavior around other dogs but we will eliminate her need to be “rescued.”
