I get a little tickled when a record (cd) store made space to carry my latest release from February. Thanks 🙏 to all who still value and support the humans crazy enough to give their lives to the practice & playing of instruments. While attending an intimate house concert years ago Mastero Hari Prasad held his bansuri up before playing and said “This is but a hollowed out piece of bamboo no? Very simple, but to truly play this one must first tune this (pointing to his heart) and this is not so simple”. Thank you to all the freaks, artists, poets, musicians & yogis who are still willing to live lives of practice for practice sake in the midst of an inverted modern value system. I love you!!
Throwback pic Nov 17: The glacial ice waters of the Himalayas. Since I was a teenager I have sought out natures solace & tranquility The space she provides between sometimes painful extremes. It is a great gift to me that i can sometimes share these practices with my true family. Behind the identity crisis of the voluntarily physical discomfort (a privileged choice of participation very different than pain imposed through birth/environment) there is a wealth of information both physically & psychosomatically that can lead to an authentic and direct experience of meditation. Overcoming fear of pain is the first step towards the practice of meditation. Sitting in ice water should not be sold as the latest new method in gym/yoga branding. It is not only a healing practice on a physiological level but has for eons been used as a useful tool in learning pranayama & meditation. Creation, preservation & destruction..life's inescapable trinity. Pleasure and pain are the mother and father of peace, and it is through the reconciliation of these seeming opposites that the breath of life is revealed. #yogaeveryday#meditation#pranayama#icewater#mountainphotography#creation#preservation#destruction#asana#breathoflife#allisone#ganga#monastery#himalayas#nepal#india#tibet#mantra#yantra#tantra
I am just now perusing all the pics from the last India/Nepal trip. Thanks to BenPowell & Kenmar...The documentation is a first for me in decades of travel and I am humbled scrolling through..seeing the images manifest & separate from my own minds-eye. Not different than a melody or song that has taken birth and was recorded or “captured”. This was about a week into a trek in Nepal near the Tibet border @ 8000ft.The beautiful Grandma had come at sunrise to see the reigons doctor who visits every few weeks but had not made it for his visit. Brother Kenmar is our own traveling Doc & was able to give her some anti-inflammatory tablets for severe pain in her neck and shoulders from a lifetime of carrying heavy loads up very narrow, rocky and steep paths. The interaction reminded us what true dignity and beauty looks like..Thank you Ma for your blessing #yoga#yogaeverywhere#spirit#nepal#himalayas#mountainphotography#photographer#monastery#buddhism#tantrayoga#pantajali#trekking#allareone#indigenouswomen#gratitude @kenmarzipan #musicislife#musicislove#consciousness#meditation
