Do you ever wish it was “acceptable” to wear a sports bra to the gym AND/OR simply wherever you wanted?

So did I. For a long time.

When I first joined Lifetime Fitness, a trainer told me he didn’t “recommend” I do this because it’s looked down upon...

My University gym doesn’t even allow women to wear the slightest of crop tops while working out.

Sometimes, I get strange looks for wearing them around.

This frustrates me deeply.

I’ve had a lot of girls tell me they wish it was acceptable for them to wear them, because they would everyday.

I’d like to make a point here.
THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO PHOTOS IS THAT MY LOWER ABDOMEN AND SHOULDERS ARE SHOWING.

Every female has a stomach and shoulders last I checked. Any human gets hot and sweaty during a workout, or in 85 degree weather🤷🏼‍♀️ In summary,

1) if you want to wear a sports bra, DO IT. You don’t need to have killer abs to do so. Wear whatever you’re comfortable in💅🏽
2) if you’re confident in your body and just want to wear one without being judged for “just wanting attention” DON’T HOLD BACK GIRL🤟🏽
3) if you’re someone who typically reacts negatively when you see a woman wearing one, please re-evaluate. Be proud of the individual who is confident enough to wear what makes her comfortable🤚🏽
To some of you, wearing sports bras is already no big deal- that’s awesome. This is nothing to ya so keep rockin it💁🏼‍♀️
But for others of us, this isn’t as easy.

I hate baggy clothes. I hate sweaty clothes. I like to see definition in my muscles while working out so I know I’m hitting them right. I’m comfortable like this. My career and passions revolve around fitness. I train outside in the heat everyday...this is my work attire! But even on days off I still dress like this bc heck I like too💁🏼‍♀️
I’m confident in my body. And even before I was (like when I first joined Lifetime Fitness six years ago) I preferred to dress like this.

Do you, love💕 Just trying to make the female body a little bit more normalized. If you agree, feel free to join in👏🏽✨

1) New @simpletruth4u organic version of Lara Bars🍎:
Recommend if you like Lara Bars... same taste but organic and cheaper! I prefer the Bhu Foods version because they have added plant protein, but definitely convenient whole food snack bar to find at the grocery store!

2) @hilaryseatwell Spicy Veggie Breakfast Sausage🌱:
made entirely of healthful ingredients (unlike Morningstar) and 3g of protein! These are so uniquely good and I highly recommend! I am soooo in love with these!

3) @go_raw Mini Raw Chocolate Squares🍫:
I was really impressed! They are extremely sweet and soft like a truffle with only 1g of fat and 32 calories per serving. I’ve been snacking on these when I have a small craving in between meals

4) Half-Calf Organic Coffee ☕️:
I was so excited to find this because I’ve been really sensitive to caffeine lately! This coffee is... only half caffeinated! Tastes a little less flavorful but I’m not too picky: does the job!

5) @daveskillerbread Organic Whole Grain Bread🍞:
At only 60 calories a slice, seeded, and 3g of protein per slice this is literally my favorite sliced bread. Been making avocado toast with it and it’s the bombbb.

I really love all these products, you really can’t go wrong. Who says healthy food has to be boring? Don’t be afraid to try new things☺️ Comment any questions and lemme know if you’ve tried these products!👇🏽

VEGAN FETA CHEESE RECIPE😋✨

no saturated fat
plant based
easy!

Ingredients:

9.7 ounces firm tofu (275 g) [organic recommended]
1/4 cup lemon juice (60 ml)
1/2 cup water (125 ml)
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar (125 ml)
1 tbsp oregano
(salt optional)

Directions:
(refer to video)

Press tofu, by taking it out of the package, wrapping in paper towel, and placing something weighted on top (cutting board, plate) for 30 minutes. [this drains some of the absorbed water]

While you wait for the tofu, make the marinade:
In a bowl, combine:
-apple cider vinegar
-water
-lemon juice
-oregano
-sea salt (opt)

Cut tofu into cubes. 
Pour marinate over tofu!

Cover and place in fridge overnight.

Place in a salad or wrap🥙🌯😍

HOW TO GET MOTIVATED FOR THE GYM WHEN YOU’RE JUST NOT FEELING IT👆🏽🏃🏼‍♀️✨

1) PUT ON YOUR MOST FAVORITE WORKOUT ATTIRE so you can feel comfortable and confident! It really makes a difference💅🏽
I choose to wear tighter clothing because the baggier it is the more ‘lazy’ and un-put together I feel😜

2) MAKE A BOMB PLAYLIST🎶:
I like to have a couple newer songs that I’m loving lately planned to play during my workout for that extra motivation when I start to zone out😅
It’s refreshing to have some new jams to sweat to💦, and keeps your energy high🎉

3) HAVE A PLAN📝:
Different ‘plans’ work for different people; some like to know each and every rep they’re gonna do, others just like to prepare for a certain muscle group of the day!

if you don’t know what exercises to do or feel you’re getting bored/ plateauing, set a goal to try one new piece of equipment/ exercise each time you go to the gym!🏋🏼‍♀️ also, screenshot/ bookmark exercises on social media that catch your eye for some inspiration🌟

4) GET IN THE RIGHT MINDSET🧘🏼‍♀️ :

Often, our minds overthink situations which results in self sabotage. Instead of setting super high expectations for your workout,
you could try telling yourself: “I’m just gonna go for 10 minutes, and if I want to leave I can. But I’m at least going to show up!”

“This doesn’t have to set records or be the best workout ever, I’m just going to get some movement in to keep my body healthy.”

“Something is better than nothing!”

5) FUEL UP🍎🥤: Sounds obvious but it’s SO important. Not enough/ the wrong food WILL effect your workout! How can you perform at your strongest without the proper fuel?🙆🏼‍♀️

Eventually, you’ll train your body to prefer this way of living🌱. But I can talk about this more in a separate post✌🏽 Long story short it was good😎

It wasn’t always this way.

I’ve been through all the stages of “getting fit/ healthy”/ whatever general term you wanna call it:
🍕overweight, picky, anti-anything green, tired all the time, negative and careless
📝inconsistent, yo-yo-ing, calorie counting and cheat days, cardio machines for two hours
🥨Vegetarian and vegan but stick eating and feeling lethargic and unhealthy
🥀depressed, unconfident, stuck, burnt out, unmotivated, scared to start over
🥗obsessed, orthorexic, afraid to eat anything ‘impure’
🥩prepping for a competition. following a diet that went against my beliefs about nutrition and didn’t resonate with me. I was told I could only eat four berries a day (ik you’re thinking wtf, me too). good experience but looking back always gets you thinking
🏃🏼‍♀️addicted. overtraining and couldn’t go a day without working out or felt completely off mentally emotionally and physically. petrified of gaining weight or losing abs when I looked it the mirror.
💀sick, diagnosed with IBS, messed up hormones, underweight, anxious, confused and helpless. 🌸hopeful. ready for change and nervous but excited. willing to take the risks I was once afraid of, in order to experience the potential benefits. 🐢steady. in an experimental state that was slightly uncomfortable because I was doing things a little differently than I once believed was the only way. but kept going

✨today: I’m fulfilled. I’m not just living I’m thriving. I am balance. I know I say this a lot but I feel I am a walking poster with the word literally plastered all over it. I want to SCREAM at everyone who is too afraid to start their health journey, and anyone who’s unhealthily extreme

I was told I could only eat four berries a day (ik you’re thinking wtf, me too). good experience but looking back always gets you thinking 🏃🏼‍♀️addicted. overtraining and couldn’t go a day without working out or felt completely off mentally emotionally and physically. petrified of gaining weight or losing abs when I looked it the mirror. 💀sick, diagnosed with IBS, messed up hormones, underweight, anxious, confused and helpless. 🌸hopeful. ready for change and nervous but excited. willing to take the risks I was once afraid of, in order to experience the potential benefits. 🐢steady. in an experimental state that was slightly uncomfortable because I was doing things a little differently than I once believed was the only way. but kept going . . ...and all the other stages in between that are kinda fuzzy... ✨today: I’m fulfilled. I’m not just living I’m thriving. I am balance. I know I say this a lot but I feel I am a walking poster with the word literally plastered all over it. I want to SCREAM at everyone who is too afraid to start their health journey, and anyone who’s unhealthily extreme

The best day of my month was probably the worst for most of you ladies... but I’m ecstatic because it means I’m finally healthy again ( I don’t believe in TMI when it comes to health🤷🏼‍♀️).

1. Cardio machine for 6-8 minutes to warm up🏃🏼‍♀️
2. Always start my workouts with a compound exercise (involves the most muscles). Center your workout around these!
3. Yes, I’m that weirdo walking around the gym in between my sets. Judge me🤓
4. REST time is super important! Don’t be afraid to rest! Also, don’t spend 5 minutes talking to a friend and let that heart rate fall back to normal!
5. BURNOUT, my fav! Finish with a HIIT move, or a few high volume sets until absolute failure.

I used to diet hard and push myself past my limits, but now I’m working on still challenging myself without going too far. Don’t get me wrong I still go hard and only hard in the gym and I think I always will💪🏽 But I’m no “bro”- I don’t take any chemically derived supplements, I don’t do extreme diets, and I don’t base my health on what my physique looks like. This is ESPECIALLY important during the downward phase of the exercise. The key is to resist gravity. Gravity pulls you down naturally, so it’s important to keep the glute, hamstring, and quadriceps muscles flexed and in control the entire time, instead of relying on momentum and gravity to just get the reps done.

I know for my family (of six) we used to do one huge grocery haul every two weeks; this typically resulted in a lot of $$ spent, and a lot of fresh foods wasted due to spoilage or being shoved in the back of the fridge.
By the time we were due for a restock, the fridge and cupboards were bare!

👉🏽Now, I go main grocery shopping when generally running low on dry groceries and staples- but I stop for produce at least twice extra a week.

This may sound obvious, but be mindful of your hunger levels before walking in the restaurant. Use it as a guide for what to order. Sometimes you need more food, sometimes you don’t!

2)
Ask your server questions about the portion sizes of the entrees you’re  interested in! Questions = knowledge💡 
3)
Order a smaller entree but extra healthy sides like veggies and potatoes🥦🥗🥔
4)
Ask for cheeses, dressings, or other toppings on the side depending on the restaurant. Sports bars tend to overload on the toppings.This way you’re in control👌🏽
5)
Be mindful. Enjoy your food- ‘healthy’ or not. Listen to your hunger. Enjoy the atmosphere and company.💃
6)
 If you get a treat food, split it with a friend (unless it’s vegan hazelnut cake and icecream then you ask for 2 of each just for you pls and thanks😍🙈😉)
7)
You know that debate in your head about whether to finish the second sandwich half or take another bite after you’re already stuffed?😜
instead of thinking, “I’ll eat more so I don’t waste food,” think, “Yay, ill save this for a lunch tomorrow!”👏🏽

If you choose an entree that’s the opposite of healthy (bc treat yo self sometimes), don’t bring the leftovers home (unless you’re giving it to a hangry roommate)🤓

Eating out...🍴✨ The experience is either heaven or hell when it comes to watching your portions, there is no in between✖️😅 - I remember when I was young I thought going out to eat automatically came with overindulging. My family went to Olive Garden every Sunday, and I would never leave without a stomach ache after stuffing my face w unlimited breadsticks and alfredo 🥖🍝 - There came a point where I stopped wanting to go because I didn’t want to feel like crap all day from eating too much🙅🏼‍♀️😔 - Is this you? Maybe not to this extent, but does the thought of going out to eat make you anxious regarding portion control? - It shouldn’t! It should be enjoyable and social for you😇 - Try these tips👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽: 1) This may sound obvious, but be mindful of your hunger levels before walking in the restaurant. Use it as a guide for what to order. Sometimes you need more food, sometimes you don’t! 2) Ask your server questions about the portion sizes of the entrees you’re interested in! Questions = knowledge💡 3) Order a smaller entree but extra healthy sides like veggies and potatoes🥦🥗🥔 4) Ask for cheeses, dressings, or other toppings on the side depending on the restaurant. Sports bars tend to overload on the toppings.This way you’re in control👌🏽 5) Be mindful. Enjoy your food- ‘healthy’ or not. Listen to your hunger.
