I have always been a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes and have read some of his works (unfortunately abridged versions during my school) but it is my latest addiction to BBC's 'Sherlock' that has made me want to pick this book up and the rest of Arther Conan Doyle's book.
I was searching for short classics and I found this. The title first seemed interesting to me and I thought it to be a fantasy novel. It took me a couple of hours to finish the book and what I found? The title is only 50% accurate and there is little or nothing about mice. It is not a fantasy novel either. I don't get the theme of the story but anyways it was fun to read this book.
So I have finished reading this book. Those who are looking for some motivation and who are going through hard times may find this book good but to me, most of the things writer wrote were all common sense. I believe that these sort of self-help books don't do much when you remove God from the scene. Much better than this is “Reclaim your Heart” by @yasminmogahed.
Hasad (envy) is from the most destructive of emotions. It violates the sanctity of and eventually destroys friendships, families, neighborhoods tribes and nations.
But the first person it destroys, is the hāsid (the envier) himself. Not only does it occupy his thoughts and feelings, destroy his sincerity and cause him to sin, it prevents him from sincerely realizing that he could be like the person he envied (or better) if he just abandoned his envy and focused on improving himself accordingly instead! – Shaykh Samir Hussain (Shafii)
