Our next stop (after a light lunch) was the Salt lakes! Copper coloured in some lights a natural Algee turns red in salt water!
Just like the dead Sea your body is held in the water and makes you feel weightless!
Our next stop was at the blue eye at the north of the island, the brighter the sun the bluer the water (next photo)
I just loved this photo, rare for me! And wanted to share it with you all.
Sometimes we need to just... escape.
Day 5 was our first official excursion "Postcards of Sal" where we toured Sal for the day.
First stop was the amazingly beautiful Murdera, a once privately owned beach for tourists with gorgeous holiday homes and naturally calm waters. It's now owned predominately by islanders who use the bay as a community area looked over by the lion on the mountains (thought of as protection to those waters)
A beautiful end to a beautiful day on day 4.
We strolled along the beach from our hotel towards Santa Maria at sunset. We managed only 1k before the sun disappeared (then we quickly hurried back to safety!) Enjoying a lovely meal at the Italian restaurant on site. Salad with balsamic vinegar and basil, Caramelised onion pizza and a big slice of cake ♡
Day 5 (Sunday) We popped down to the beach at the bottom of our hotel. It's less than 30 seconds away and surrounded by a manmade cove, which makes it ideal for the stormy waters around Sal. We tried our hand at snorkeling again, Like we did on day 2 but this time we went to both sides of the bay and there's a huge difference in fish.
It's shocking how such small changes in location (even a few feet) can mean a vast difference in fish!
Day 3 (Friday) We had our lazy day by the pool eating our pizza and ending up in the Culinarium for our weekly meal. We had starters appetisers and mushroom risotto with a banoffie pie style dessert.
Workout for the day; Aquafit with Seb (a very enthusiastic instuctor who had us act out the lion king instead of workout but it was hillarious!) I signed up for a class and noone turned up the instructor did a 1-1 leg training session with me; 30kg squats 20, lunge 20 in sets of 3.3. Then we did some leg lifts and glute work. Took me 4 days to walk properly after it so days 5-7 have been fairly sedentry, I've never worked my legs so much in my life!
Good Morning from Sunny Sunny Sal.
Day 3 we found these available 'pods' by the pool and haven't looked back since. I've been doing aqua aerobics in the pool at 11am and then lounging around until 4pm to join in with a class; Spin/Barbell/bums and tums and each class the 50 year old women show me up!
These people have so much vibrancy it puts me to shame! (I just got WiFi on day 8 so prepare for a flood of images in the next 48 hours)
We landed safely in Sal - Cape Verde . 2.10pm - 8.30pm (6.30 Local Time Time)
Can't wait to get the rest of this holiday underway.
The blast of warm air from the island was so soothing after such a long flight but im so happy to be here ready to enjoy all that Cape Verde has to offer!
