Some of my favorite adventure moments (from 2012 - 2018) are temporarily back from the photo archives but when i'm not playing outside with the trees & the mountains, you might catch me on some plant daddy duties. Shout out to my sister @angelxface for creating some beautiful leafy art pieces for my urban jungalow! Come join us in October for our public launch opening Earth party & artist installation group show. I'll be bringing the wilderness to the beach & the suburbs. More details to come soon 🌎🌿 #plantdaddy

TBT to November 2014 during a very memorable 1.5-week road trip through the Southwest with my friend @tony_ross. As I watched the sun disappear over these views for my first time, I was instantly reminded that nature really is my all-time favorite artist. Thanks Tony for capturing me in this humbling, golden hour moment. 🎨🌎 #philupadventures

Backpacking up a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail into the San Gabriel Mountains was just what I needed and it felt so good to finally spend some quality time in my second home. It's been long overdue and this past weekend served as a personal reminder to never go this long without some proper outdoor therapy. I am home feeling refreshed, energized, and re-inspired to focus more time on adventures for the remainder of 2018. Thanks again to my #littlejimmyjam fam for hosting another annual weekend of great company, live music, & soulful camp vibes in the mountains 🌲🌲🌲 #philupadventures #leavenotrace

"Earth is what we all have in common." 🌎

Grateful, exhausted, but hungry to keep spreading the Earth's good energy. THANK YOU to the family and friends who came to support the Ends of the Earth pop up shop & artist gallery soft launch! An extra huge shout of appreciation to the artists/makers/artisans/chefs who contributed their time & talent. So grateful for community love & support. πŸ™πŸΌ I loved reuniting with faces I hadn't seen in a while and appreciated the vibes all day. This little idea has been 6 months in the making so I'm going to take a breather for a while before it's back to the drawing board. Stay tuned for our next public gallery show this fall. Until then, it's time for a much needed disconnect in the mountains this weekend! 🌿 #endsoftheearthlb #plantsmakepeoplehappy

Here's to passion projects bringing good energy & good people together. ENDS OF THE EARTH will be my very first pop up shop project & curated artist gallery I've been working on for the last few months. It's inspired by and pays homage to my relationship with our Earth, home, & human nature. Just following my current vibe so let's see where this flows and grows.. 🌿🌎 #endsoftheearthlb

FRIENDS & PLACES - a small series of #35mm film portraits from the first half of my 2018. Taken with a 1976 Canon AE-1, several film stocks, all-manual settings, unedited, and straight from the negative. Shooting in film requires every ounce of patience. It's been a learning yet rewarding experience to shoot film in various seasons & landscapes. I'm very much still in love with the entire process. Excited to work on some new projects and also open for creative collaborations. Feel free to message me if you'd like to work together on something timeless. Because that's what shooting film is. Waking up full of gratitude, and ready to launch another trip around the sun. FILM IS ALIVE 🎞 This year, I kicked off 2018 with a return to my camera roots and purchased a 35mm film camera (a 1976 Canon AE-1). After years of indecisiveness in the digital realm, I feel like I've finally found my main photography vessel & my own groove behind the lens. Don't get me wrong - I still enjoy and support the digital cameras, along with the many friends who consistently create incredible work with them. My friends all take killer work and for a while, honestly felt i had nothing else to contribute if I purchased one myself. But some of the lessons I've applied recently includes learning how to trust my own path and realizing that it's never going to be about the current movement or trend. Yes there will be doubt, but at the end of the day, it's all about what feels right for you, and only you. Using film does that for me personally, and right now, it just fits like a glove. β€’Learning everything about the film process and taking it out into the field is proving to be very humbling, sometimes challenging, and ultimately addicting. After the developing process, it's been amazing to see the resulting images staying true to what I see through the viewfinder, which has required very little to no post-processing / editing. Shooting film has also motivated me to start printing my own work. Feeling it in my own hands and not only on digital screens has been a tangible reward & experience, something I recommend all photographers to consider doing! β€’The following select shots were from my recent weekend trip to Nevada's Valley of Fire spent with an awesome group (what's up Aspire fam!). It was mesmerizing to see the evolution of colors and light inside this place. To anyone who started out using only digital cameras, I encourage to learn the process of using film at least once. I truly believe you will appreciate photography even more on a different level.
Any other analog lovers and/or film shooters out there? Come visit more of my personal film work at @35mmphilip and let's continue to keep film alive πŸŽžπŸ˜ŠπŸ“· #filmisnotdead #35mmfilm #portra400 #endlessdesertseries

Currently daydreaming about my California Redwoods experience and rediscovering / falling in love with the 35mm camera again (which I used here). Friends - I invite you to come check out my latest visual work at @35mmphilip. No digital SLRs or camera phones. Just preserving the art & beauty of 35mm film photography with the help of my Canon AE-1 (circa 1976-1984). More to come soon. In the mean time, let's stay timeless. 🎞 #35mm #filmisnotdead #canonAE1 #ektar100 #redwoodaffairseries

California has so much to offer. Even a true local Californian will tell you - there is plenty of discovery here to last a lifetime. I've lived here for 30 years, and I'm still finding new places to stimulate my senses. Currently exploring new worlds 771 miles north of Los Angeles and falling in love with my own state all over again. Do you have any new places you're looking forward to experiencing soon?🌲#philipislosttour2018
