Late last night I was saddened to receive the news about the passing of my first adopted cat, A Kla (Tiger). I had raised her, along with 4 other siblings, while I was ordained in #Battambang in May 2016. A Kla stuck out of the bunch because of her feisty personality, but was extremely gentle to me. Every other day after she was under my care, A Kla brought in little creatures to the front porch to show off her hunting skills. She was very smart when dogs came into our space and often times protected her siblings.
After I left #Battambang to continue my monkhood in the US, a young university student came to my calling when I was looking for a short term caretaker. @Linda_Phen agreed, but under one condition—the status be permanent instead. I had agreed and off we left to #PhnomPenh .
For the past 19 months, Linda has been a great mother and protector of Tiger. I remember how much her family disapprove of a cat living among them, but had later fallen in love with her. I remember when she went missing for a full day. And I was always uneasy when Linda tells me that Tiger was sick. Unfortunately, this time she couldn't fight it through.
Dear A Kla, you are in a better place now free of pain. I hope you can be reborn to something beautiful, just like the spirit you hold. Good bye, koun Kla.
This reunion photo was taken 5 months after our separation.
វប្បធម៌ - #Wapatoa , or "culture," is a new media company with the mission "to tickle minds, trigger curiosity"—by producing meaningful, intelligent content. Founded by SokCheng (left) and Alix (right), the two women came together to launch the online platform roughly 6 weeks ago and have received positive feedback since its inception. Through facilitation from co-working space Impact Hub, which I volunteer to offer mentor support, the two shared me their current challenges running a young start up.
The media landscape in #Cambodia is changing rapidly with major players like Khmerload and ប្រលោមលោក Sabay taking the lead. It's always refreshing to see more media start ups, especially led by women, contributing to this industry.
