It’s my birthday! I’m 26 today. Officially moving into my “late twenties” 😄
25 was kind of a hard year. I was struggling with lots of health issues, van issues and work issues. They’re all resolving as I wrap up 25 and start moving in on 26. And I have high hopes for this year! I intend to pay back most of my loans, I intend to create a steady flow of creative work each month, I intend to climb the classics in the Sierra, I intend to do at least 2 walls in Yosemite Valley, I intend to fix my air conditioning, I intend to drink lots of water, I intend to meditate at least once a week if I can’t do it daily, and I intend to get a diesel heater for next winter because damn it’s cold at night!
Thank you for being my friend, thank you for following along my journey, thank you for old friends and new friends met on the road. Here’s to a great year! 🙌🏻 Photo: @mikehatesbolts
This is my little sister. She is the funniest, most compassionate, driven, and badass person I know. I am thankful that I get to see her grow into the spectacular human being that she is. There really isn’t anyone else in the world who understands me or gets my brain like she does. We often say out loud what the other one is thinking, and we have the same shitty taste in music. I am thankful for the times in my life where I can stop for a while, sit in my van, make cranberry sauce, listen to musicals, show each other memes and just really, truly, laugh.
GO VOTE ON NOVEMBER 6th!
I don’t care if you live in your van/car/motor home/Subaru/Tacoma coffin/horse drawn carriage/back pack or you are literally walking down the highway hitch hiking with a red wagon and a china tea set in tow (met a girl like that once, great story for later) you can vote by mail! It’s stupid easy! Just register to vote, and click a single button on a page that says ‘vote by mail’. Then every time there is an election they will send you your ballot. If you’re like me, you can have your mom forward that to the nearest post office. ITS EASY. Just ‘Your name’
General Delivery ‘Post office address’
You have LITERALLY no reason to not vote. None.
And you should vote. Because the mid term elections are just as, if not more, important as the presidential elections. You have SO much power as a voter to make significant lasting change in your local communities. Your vote is not 1 in 300 million, in many cases your vote is 1 in 5,000? 2,000? A few hundred even? My county is small and after looking at last years voter turn out, I was 1 in often 1,800 votes that were counted on topics like, ‘should we give money to this school?’, ‘should we tax marijuana at a higher rate?’, ‘should the felony amount be raised for theft from $750 to $2000?’ These are things that matter! Local change is what crafts global change! Also our country is a trash fire right now and the LEAST we can do is show up and participate in the democratic process. ‼️VOTE DAMNIT‼️
