I know it’s not Monday but I felt a mood board coming on... and it fits with my feed. So this week’s it’s beige. Sooo c1980’s I hear you say but check out the modern vibe of this board. I’m all over it. Well if it’s good enough for Timorous Beasties wallpaper (bottom right) it’s good enough for me! Mix in some pattern, texture and maybe a bit of metallic with a modern rustic design scheme. Rough pointed stone butting up to a cool, crisp white plasterboard wall, throw in a live wood edge or two and you’re good to go. Just goes to prove that no matter what your taste regarding colour is you can still create a fab modern interior that will stand the test of time. Pinterest for all photo credits.
Today’s project. A little bag for my friend’s birthday tomorrow. I even made the tassel.. fiddly little did!
I know it’s not much to do with barn renovation but just thought I’d share 🖤
Ooh I do love a pollarded tree or two. Sorry I’ve been absent for a while I’ve been a busy bee. It’s amazing what you notice when the sun come out after what seems like aaaaages... I just popped into to our local town today and was really impressed with the lovely building of the Mairie with all its stunning pollarded trees. The French are so good at this, just a shame that just out of shot on the right is an ugly 1960’s concrete prefab Post Office building. 🙄
‘You can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs!’ There is no better expression to describe renovating a house or barn. It has to get a whole lot worse (for what seems like... forever) before it gets better! Roofs had to come off. Walls built up and stone windows openings added, floors removed then replaced. Weighty beams gingerly coaxed into place again and again. Trying to do all this without destroying original features in the process requires the utmost skill and craftsmanship. Not only that but the owners flying back to pressured full time jobs in the States and trusting them to get on with it whilst you’re gone must have taken a huge leap of faith (or madness)... you decide.
Can you relate to this story? I’d love to hear of your experiences, good and well, not so good. Or have you always dreamed of doing a project like this? What’s holding you back?
It’s a bit like childbirth... horrendous at the time but once you have that baby in your arms it all just melts away into the distant past. Frankly if we can do that we can do anything!
Blimey didn’t that week fly by?! It’s mood-board Monday again. This week I’m feeling the tropical vibe. Sun’s out here and spring is on its way. I’ve well and truly been bitten by the plant bug (pardon the pun 🙄) courtesy of my gorgeous girl @emma_at_home_ but now I remember why I haven’t had any for years... just another encumbrance that needs tending and feeding! 😂 Too late though now... I’m in. You know me by now... if it’s blue or green or any shade inbetween... I’m in! 🖤💙💚
