The body has many clock-like systems that regulate many different bodily functions.

These clocks are found in the oesophagus, lungs, liver, pancreas, spleen, thymus, and the skin, as well as the brain!Although they can act independently according to external stimuli such as light, temperature, social interactions, pharmacological manipulation, exercise, and eating/drinking patterns – all healthy systems communicate with each other so that the body can synchronise and make efficient these systems according to what time of the day it is, when last your body has performed a function, and the external stimuli listed above.

Your phone light, computer screen, laptop, TV or digital alarm clock all effect our circadian rhythm, therefore affecting many bodily functions, including sleep.

Do you play on your phone before bed? Did you know this tricks your body into thinking you are waking up instead of going to sleep due to the blue light? This means you will get a spike in cortisol & a reduction in melatonin, welcoming issues like adrenal fatigue. .
You should always practice sleep hygiene, especially if you don’t sleep well. 💤 .
Sleep hygiene refers to eliminating all screens from your night time regime. Turn all of them off an hour before bed to get a deep & restful sleep.

After moving back to the central coast from Sydney, I really began to appreciate the amazing wildlife, open space & bushland it has to offer 💫

We are greeted from the local bush turkeys 🦃 each week which fly up on the fence & make Charlie crazy 😜 , an abundance of lizards 🦎 , frogs 🐸 , possums, owls 🦉 & even snakes (eww)! 🐍 . 
Today I am most grateful for the sunshine & the privilege to live in such an amazing country! 🇦🇺 .

Vitamin D! ☀️ The sunshine vitamin! 
We need it for soooo many functions in the body including hormone health, immune function, GUT protection, bone strength & repair, cardiovascular health, fighting depression & maintaining thyroid health. Studies have shown a huge link between vitamin D deficiency & raised anti-bodies in hashimotos & Graves’ disease. .
Vitamin D comes from the sun, however even in such a sun drenched country like Australia, many of us are deficient due to poor absorption. That’s why I always recommend for my clients to up there intake of vitamin D rich foods including: seafood, cod liver oil, mackerel, sardines, tuna, shrimp, egg yolk & mushrooms. 🍄 .

I really wanted to get up & go for a walk this morning BUT I slept in instead! 🙊 & I ain’t even mad about it! I will just have to go for a walk at lunch time instead! 🏃‍♀️ Monday’s are full of mixed emotions, sometimes I feel really motivated and other times I feel really blah!

Healthy protein shakes are my favourite way to get in extra protein throughout the day, especially after my workout. 🥛

I wanted to shine a light on the lack of exercise we do as a globe & this statement really sums it up for me! This study showed that a lack of exercise is killing us, just as much as smoking does! How insane is that?! Heart disease is the number 1 killer in the western world & people really need to get moving!!! & in saying that, I’m getting up to go for a fasted walk right now! 💪🏼 .
