Urban angling for carp; what a hoot! I finally got around to pinpointing where in my hometown these critters where most accessible. I had heard about them being in our local lake but it is closed to fishing. The creek flowing out however, is not so, I now have an even closer water body available to spend some time chasing carp on the fly. #carpflyfishing#carponthefly#flyfishcanada#flyfish#flyfisher#flyfishing#explorecanada 🍁
A week ago today I had the opportunity to connect with this Brown slab. I knew where it was from last year's attempts to entice a bite but every time I was denied. This time I tried the usual attempt from the far bank early in the day but had no success.
As I was walking back at the end of the day, I decided to try one more time from the side of the bank where this beast was holed up.
I used a bow and arrow cast to flip my fly between some willows into the slow current along the bank, a split second later I heard the familiar sound of a fly being taken on the surface so, I set the hook and the battle was on. Success at last and on what was literally my last cast of the day.
