Hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July! Made these Sweet & Sour baked short ribs the other week and thought they might be fitting to share today. We are shooting for a client all day - so no BBQs for us, unfortunately. However, I’ll probably wolf down a few beers and hot dogs and have indigestion while watching fireworks tonight, just like our forefathers intended. God Bless America 🇺🇸

As much as I love cooking “manly” foods and making my work look dark and moody, there’s something nice about making a soft and quaint dish for a brand, stepping away from the dripping BBQ sauce or bloody meat for a brief moment. This is something I would see growing up on the breakfast table on a Saturday morning. It makes me happy to have been able to recreate this. I usually never post detailed recipes but if anyone wants any of my creations, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Shiitake Mushroom Risotto. Risotto was one of the first dishes I successfully made on my own after being taught by my mother. The patience that goes into making risotto is very important and also gives you the time to have a few glasses of wine. What’s your favorite type of risotto?

Went old school with this French Onion Soup. One of my first jobs was a dishwasher in a small country restaurant in PA. I will never forget having to wash the French onion soup bowls of all the hardened cheese, which was like cement by the time it got to me. It was the worst. This is an homage to that time in my life. Ironically I was the one who had to wash the bowls after this photo shoot, but it felt nice to have this memory.
