It’s not every day that you find people who are completely willing; not just willing to listen but willing to do the work. Emily has been working all the facets of a full body practice to minimize pain and maximize strength. She is doing the work every fucking day and it’s showing. Today I am grateful for this woman and her hard work.
I am certain her body feels the same way. Keep it up girl!!
Boots and denim prove to be highly restrictive as well. Give me two hours in an outfit that restricts my movement and I’m hurtin’ like a newbie deadlifter!
Sure they’re fun for a night. It’s good for my self esteem. But for those of us that dress like this for work?? Maybe it’s time to consider what the body needs, not what it looks good in. #foodforthought
If you wake up in the morning like I used to then go get yourself a teddy bear! -
I’m not kidding.
Wrapping your arm around something as you sleep tractions the traps away from your scalenes (shoulder from neck) providing space for your neck muscles to breathe, literally. You’ll be less likely to wake up with a stiff neck and quality of sleep will increase. -
I changed my sleep position after finding out I had osteoarthritis in my cervical spine. I didn’t want to sacrifice my active lifestyle so I had to make some adjustments to my daily life and the positions I spent the most time in. Switching to a flat pillow under my head and hugging a teddy bear has absolutely saved my neck and shoulders. -
The position of my car seat is also completely different now that I am in preservation and prevention mode. But that’s for another day. ☺️🙏🏻❤️
Limber, malleable, supple... the muscles of the body are supposed to be soft. Even at their strongest the tissues of the body should not be hard or stiff. Hard tissues are unyielding, immobile and injury prone.
Placing the dowel rod at the knee pit and sitting into hero’s pose is not only a great way to test the malleability of the leg tissues but also a great form of deep tissue release!
It’s not fun... but so worth it.
It’s official! I am now opening my books to the general public. If you are curious about your pain and would like relief from it I can certainly help.
As a Certified Personal Trainer, 500hr Registered Yoga Teacher, Mobility Specialist, and Licensed Massage Therapist I would like to offer my experience and knowledge.
Prices may vary. DM me for details. ☺️🙏🏻❤️
Yoga isn’t just a series of poses... and, in fact, the poses didn’t come forth until centuries AFTER its dawn.
Vanity may be a good reason to start a practice but rarely is it useful in sustaining that practice.
Dear Trainers... if your clients cannot perform this movement to its full expression they should not be bearing weight overhead. Period.
If the shoulder is not open enough to reach into full overhead extension the load will inevitably dump into the lumbar spine causing compression in the low back.
By asking an unwilling joint to do work beyond its capacity you are pushing the body into compensation, thus causing unwanted and unnecessary damage to the tissues. This will create painful holding patterns and stunt your clients progress.
Always remind clients that this is a life’s work. Build a strong foundation from which to build movement longevity and true strength. 🙏🏻
I have the great pleasure to jot only be teaching at this festival but I will also be attending as a vendor with @coloruptherapeutics giving mini CBD massages. If you’ve never tried my hands or their products here is a great opportunity.
Come camp (or hotel it), sweat, zen and enjoy.
We can’t wait!!!
There is a whole lot more to handstands than just strength! I actually like to think it’s a pretty well rounded practice that includes strength, mobility, endurance, breath control, focus, dedication and so much more.
If you would like to learn more about the art of handstands please come see me, @butfl_dzastr , and @mosdef1 on Wed September 5 from 6-8 @coloruptherapeutics for a 2 hour workshop on the art of handstands!
Look up “HandyWork” on eventbrite for details and ticketing info!!
We are so very excited to teach what we have discovered. 🤸🏼♀️🤸🏾♂️
No. Mark Twain didn’t say this. But it is based pretty strongly on empirical evidence and anecdotal proof... I’m sure science could also support it via biomechanics and the “don’t be dumb method”. Don’t worry... you’re not alone in the fuckery.
I taught single tap backs in my cycle classes all week “because they’re fuuuun” 🤦🏼♀️ and now me and my right SI joint (the side I pedal first with) are sorry.
The more experience I gain the more people I can help. So... bring it on. #anotherlessondown#unevenhips#sillybilly
I forgot how much I love kettlebells! Starting next week I will no longer have BOOTCAMPS and traditional strength training classes on my schedule! But don’t you worry I will still be offering private training sessions if you’re interested in correcting, mobilizing and strengthening.
My focus is mainly on moving well and training smarter. If you’re in pain from your current regimen or you’ve hit a standstill I’m your gal. DM me to set up an intro session. 🙏🏻

It’s true, I couldn’t have expected to spend 9hours on a bike and walk away without some level of pain. The beautiful piece is that I came back, post event, knowing that I was in a precarious place with a desire to PREVENT injury!
I’m an athlete. Moving my body is not only my art but my career. Believe it or not, the case is the same for you. Work hard, recover harder... no matter the cost.
