Oh hey Insta Friends! Sorry I’ve been super MIA lately. I’ve been busy finishing the school year, writing report cards, moving schools, planning a wedding, oh... and marrying my very best friend and favourite human. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, this has been a very difficult year for me. My stress and anxiety has worsened immensely and because of this, my weight loss has stalled for months. Hence, my lack of posting. But, I CAN say that this entire wedding experience was astronomically better, easier and more enjoyable due to being 100 pounds smaller than I was last year and being 100x healthier. I gave zero shits about my excess skin and my stall & for the first time in a very long time, I felt beautiful. I was able to enjoy our day and loved every minute of getting married to my husband. I just love him so freakin much. Now that my life is calming down a tiny bit (I hope!) I promise to try to be a better Insta friend! As a side note, all of our professional wedding photos were taken by the INCREDIBLY TALENTED Nicole & Michael with @flaunt_photography Check em out! They’re amazing. #rny#rnywls#rnyjourney#rnygastricbypasssurgery#rnybride#rnywedding#newlyweds#justmarried#wedding#love#bride#canadianbride#bariatricbride#bariatric#gastricbypass#rouxeny#canadianwedding
Four Weeks of Fitness Accountability Post Day #2 . Determined to work hard every day until our wedding later this month. This post required maximum filters and b & w because I had an allergic reaction last night and my eyes are hella puffy & swollen. I look like a gremlin. 😩😳🙈 #RNY#rnyjourney#rnyfitness#sweatingforthewedding
I’m determined to be as active as possible this July after having a rough last 6 months. Huge thanks to my pal Michelle for doing the July 1st Canada Day 5K with me. Felt great to get out there and get moving! 😊👍🏻🏃🏻♀️ #RNY#rnyjourney#rnygbp#rnyfitness
I found these two quotes incredibly powerful & empowering & uplifting. I needed to hear this today. Thought I’d share in case some of you needed to hear this too. ❤️ Thank you, @missalexisjones ! @13reasonswhy
I know I’ve been super MIA lately. Sorry for the lack of posts. It’s been a rough couple of months, being a bit of a hermit, trying not to eat my feelings every chance I get. I just wanted to share this product with you guys, though! I found it at @sobeys in Saskatchewan, Canada. This is, hands down, without a doubt, the BEST low sugar, high protein ice cream I have EVER tasted. By far. It is unreal. Go try it. You will not be disappointed! Well done, @goodnorthca ! Loyal new customer right here. 🙌🏼
Before & After of tonight’s (mostly) delicious dinner. 1st BBQ of 2018. BBQ steak, bbq’d sweet potatoes, bbq’d corn on the cob and some fresh cut watermelon. I try so hard but I just f’ing HATE sweet potatoes in every way, shape or form. 😩😢🙅🏻♀️ Additionally, steak still makes me feel like crap. But it tastes so, so good.
Huge congrats to the @swiftcurrentbroncos on their huge win tonight! Officially the 2018 @westernhockeyleague Champions! So proud of my hometown boys. Thanks to the Broncos and our “Billet Brother” @kolegable for snagging a W for our Mama B on Mother’s Day! 🙌🏼👏🏻 #ourteamourtown#swiftcurrentbroncos#whl#hockey#memorialcup @mcmemorialcup @memorialcup
I had such an amazing weekend in my hometown for my bridal shower this weekend. HUGE props to the incredibly talented @maygenlouiseartistry for making me look and feel like a million bucks. You did an amazing job! 😘
It’s the little things in life that make me smile... The sun is finally shining. The snow is almost entirely melted. I can go outside without a coat. I have a nice quiet slice of afternoon prep time, a job I love, a delicious decaf/sugar-free/lactose-free iced vanilla latté from @starbucks.yqr and the convenient ability to be able to run to @saveonfoods during my lunch break to grab a pint of mint chip @halotop_ca protein ice cream. Life is good today, folks! 👌🏼😎😍🙌🏼 #halotop#springissprung#teacherlife#rnyeats#rny#rnywls#rnyjourney
Well, folks, today I had my one year post-op follow up with the Bariatric program & my surgeon. I confessed to them that I’m having a really tough year and that I’m trying not to stress eat and/or eat my feelings. I said some of my habits aren’t the best, but I’ve been in a “stall/rut/plateau” for 6+ months, and it’s starting to get to me. I just keep going up and down the same 10 pounds. I’m working out, I’m staying active, my eating isn’t as great as can be, but it’s definitely not terrible! They went through my blood work and diagnosed me with Hypothyroidism. Going through the symptoms was a fairly accurate description of the last 6 months of my life. I have NO energy, am constantly fatigued & unmotivated, I get hungry but have no appetite for anything at all. I’ve actually been experiencing about 85% of the symptoms on this chart but tried to write it off due to the amount of stress I’ve been under. I’m going to see my GP on Friday & will likely be put on meds. Has anyone else been diagnosed with this post-op? Care to share your experiences, tips or suggestions? #hypothyroidism#lazythyroid#lazymimi#alwayscold#alwaystired#rny#rnywls#rnyjourney
Fajitas for Dinner! 🙌🏼 I considered not having a wrap but I needed some carbs in my life tonight. 😂😋🙈 One mini whole wheat tortilla wrap. 1/8 cup shredded light cheddar cheese and 1/4 cup fajita filling (chicken, bell peppers & seasoning). I can NOT tolerate cauliflower tots or broccoli tots so I made tater tots. Yum. #rny#rnyeats#rnywls#rnyjourney
To my followers that aren’t familiar with where I’m from... I’m from the rural prairie province of Saskatchewan in Canada. On Friday evening, tragedy struck our province. A semi truck struck a charter bus carrying a hockey team, The Humboldt Broncos, and their staff. 15 of the 29 people on that bus were fatally injured. The 14 others sustained various injuries. I do not know these people personally but this accident has rattled me to my core. My heart is heavy & hurting for all affected by this. Additionally, 31 years ago, a charter bus carrying my local WHL hockey team, The Swift Current Broncos, crashed and 4 young men lost their lives. Please wear green & gold on Monday to show your support. 💚💛 #prayersforhumboldt#humboldt#saskatchewan#humboldtbroncos#broncos#hockey#sjhl#whl#swiftcurrent#saskatchewanstrong#saskatchewanstrong 💚💛🌾
IS THIS YOU? IS THIS YOUR FRIEND? ARE YOU THIS GIRL? Long, feisty post alert. Text/Story continues in the comments.
Real talk: I’m proud of being a strong, independent woman. Life has dealt me some tough cards but I’ve tackled things and come out stronger because of it. I love the idea of women (and humans in general) supporting women. I just want human beings, overall, to be more kind to each other. To help and take care of each other. I teach my kiddos every day that “we need to lift each other up, not tear each other down.” I do my best to be kind, caring & compassionate. I genuinely love helping & supporting others.
In today’s world, everyone wants to slap the label of “bully” on someone else. We have the Red Cross Day of Pink, we have “Buddy benches,” we preach kindness and say “maybe that student wouldn’t have shot up his school and classmates if they’d been more kind to them.” But how many of you are hypocrites? How many of you are the bully? Why are we such a victim-blaming society?
I haven’t gone “out” a lot since my surgery prep, my surgery, and recovery. I didn’t drink alcohol for two years, I’m 35, clubs aren’t my scene anymore and I’m genuinely losing faith in humanity every time I go “out” with my friends.
My group of girlfriends are INCREDIBLE. They are kind, caring, compassionate, intelligent, strong and beautiful women. I’m so lucky to have them in my life. They’re so amazing. Man, do I ever love them!
In December, we went to a Regina, SK nightclub for our one friend’s birthdays. I was sober. I could not even handle the catty behaviour of the “women” in that bar. They made fun of our outfits, our ages, our dance moves, and whatever else they could come up with. I left before 12:30 because of how negatively it was affecting me. Also, because I’m old AF in nightclub land. 😂🙈🤷🏻♀️
For St. Patrick’s Day, my beautiful girls and I went out celebrating in Saskatoon. It was my first time “out” & “drinking” since my surgery. I got dolled up, I felt like a million bucks and I had the time of my LIFE with my girlfriends.
