Let’s talk amino acids... Our bodies utilize amino acids constantly, all day/night long. They are building blocks for muscle repair, metabolism, & digestion processes. There are 22 amino acids. Our bodies are capable of making 13 of these on its own, but nine of the amino acids are “essential.” Meaning they must be obtained from external sources (the foods we eat). 💪🏻 Complete protein provides your body with all the essential amino acids it requires. The most ideal sources of complete protein are whole foods (lean meats, eggs, Greek yogurt, etc). Second place goes to whole protein supplements, such as Level 1 or Phormula 1. Third place belongs to amino acid supplements, such as Anabolic Bridge or BCAA’s. 💪🏻 There are TONS of amino acids supplements on the market today, but when should you use them? And which ones are the best? 💪🏻 An essential amino acid supplement is best used between meals when you can’t eat within 4 hours of your last meal. They will help keep your body from becoming catabolic (breaking down muscle/storing fat). They can also be taken before working out if you haven’t eaten a whole food meal within 2 hours of training. 💪🏻 BCAA’s include three of the essential amino acids (leucine, isoleucine, & valine). They are best utilized during training sessions that exceed an hour in length. I tried a weird thing this week.... I’ve had nagging shoulder & elbow pain that flare up every arm day & take a couple days to resolve. I’ve tried ice, anti-inflammatory supps, etc, etc..... still nagging.
So I tried out acupuncture this week. (Something I never thought I would try.) Today was my first arm day since my treatment, & it was sooooo much better!
