Is eating healthier, and starting a workout plan on your New Years resolution?!! .

I know it used to be on mine EVERY single year. I used to tell myself that right after New Year’s Eve I was starting a fitness program, and I was going to start eating healthier because hello summer and spring break!! (☀️)

However, every single year I found myself a few weeks into my new journey, that I was so excited about when I started, and wanting to quit it all. I was miserable. I expected to be able to just pick up a new lifestyle while still holding on to my other one. I was spending hours in the gym, and eating chicken & broccoli everyday. (Nothing wrong with that, but ya girl likes to get crazy with food & that was just too bland for me). I WAS MISERABLE 2 weeks in. Restricting, restricting, restricting because I wanted that spring break bod, and I wanted to feel good in the dang bathing suit that year. Long story short, that New Years resolution to be fit & get my dream ended very quickly.

This year I’m going into the New Years with big goals for my fitness, and health but knowing this time it’s not about restriction or hours in the gym!! It’s about a mindset, it’s about choosing more nutritious foods but also eating what I crave because I no longer see it as “bad food”, it’s about workouts that fit to my schedule. .

What keeps you going? Or what holds you back? .

What keeps me going is my support system around me, and my desire know what is possible if I don’t give up. Our minds will only go as far as we allow them to, and as far as the people around us push us & encourage us. .

One thing I always lacked before was people who cared about me, and held me accountable. People who complimented my healthy eating choices instead of laughed at them. People who asked if I worked out instead of those who tried to convince me not to. Your support system around you is a huge part of your journey in fitness & in life. Surround yourself with people who make you better!

Do y’all ever go through ruts where you’re self love is at an all time low? I do. These past few days I have looked at my bloated stomach (thank you Mother Nature) and judged my self worth on it. I’ve taken pictures and hated how I’ve looked, and let it put me in a bad mood for the day. I’ve found myself being so hard on myself, and valuing my self worth over my body. If you do this, you’re not alone. Even the most inspirational people on your timeline don’t always have it together. .

However, tonight I’m putting my foot down and realizing that I am more than my body. Im not letting my mind go to the dark thinking again. I’m reminding myself that I’m more than the bloating of my stomach, and just because I’m bloated for a day doesn’t mean I haven’t made progress and come so far. .

I came across these pictures today, and it couldn’t have been better timing. It showed me how far I’ve come, and that a few days of my body feeling gross doesn’t define me. It shows me that I am more than a weight, or picture. I’m more than a “body type” good or bad, and so are YOU! Remember your self worth, even when your mind or the world tries to tell you differentl✨📸

Find your happiness and run with it. Don’t let judgement, or doubt from others stop you. No one knows your heart or situation like you do, so don’t let others tell you what to do. If something makes you happy, then go all in despite what others may say. .

I am so thankful that I took a leap of faith and decided to believe in myself, and this journey. Just 4 short months ago I started this journey as a health & fitness coach. I was struggling to pay my car note, and medical bills. I was working so much, on top of going to school to the point I was averaging 5 hours a sleep each night. That was my story. I had the mindset that the only way to have the body I always imagined I wanted, was by going to the gym everyday and lifting heavy weights for over an hour. That’s what I saw all the other insta models doing so that’s what I thought I had to do too. .

Granted, I saw some results but over the course of 2 years of lifting weights at the gym I was never seeing the results I wanted. I was closed minded to workouts at home, or any kind of workout that didn’t involve stationary lifting. However, I was sick of lifting and lifting and not seeing the results I thought I should see, so I knew something had to change. .
.
That’s when I decided to start these new programs that I have been doing that consist of all kinds of workouts, and have pushed me beyond belief. I reached out of what I thought would get me results, and tried something new. I’ll never be happier that I’m no longer in the gym only lifting heavy weights. Instead I’m incorporating moves & workouts that work for my body. .

It took stepping out of my comfort zone, but I finally have found what works for my body. Find what works for you, and be open to things that are different than the “norm”.

For real though, do you ever find yourself feeling anxious that there isn’t enough time in the day, or you have way too many things to get done & you simply don’t see how it’s all going to workout? This happens to me all the time. I find myself having anxiety over not having enough time. If this is you, I have some tips for you. Here’s what I do in times of anxiety: .

1. BREATHE. Find an app on your phone that reminds you to breathe. Set a timer for 5 minutes and just relax, no matter where you are just drop & breathe. .
.
2. PRAY. God calls us to cast our anxieties on him (1 Peter 5:7). He cares for you, and has plans for you. Give it him, because he desires to help you!! .
.
3. WRITE. Something that always helps me to get my mind off the negatives is to write down 3 things in my life that I am thankful for in that moment. It can be small like the weather, or it can be big like those around you. Whatever it is, remind yourself of the positives around you. .
. 
Life’s too short to be swallowed by negatives, and anxieties. Live freely, and happily. 💕

As much as I hate being sick, and not being able to workout or work I’m thankful that it gives me time to sit down with you. Often times we push the people were closest to away the more busy we get. I know I do that to this guy way too much, yet he is always so supportive of me. It’s hard to chase your dreams if the ones around you don’t support you, so I’m very thankful this one does. Stop with the comparison game! As women, and even just in human nature  I feel like we are always comparing ourselves to others. We look at those around us, and the things they have or the way they look and it either makes us feel better about ourselves or worse about ourselves. We are constantly looking to others to find our self worth. This more than often leaves us feeling like we’re not enough, we need to have more, or were lacking in some area of our lives. .

I used to do this constantly on instagram and with people around me. If her body was better than mine, then I was left feeling less than, and like I needed to change so I could be happy. If I looked “better” than her then I was happy. The way I was thinking was so twisted, and worldly. It was not how I have been called to think, and it is not how you have been called to think about yourself! .
.
When we look to things of this world, and compare ourselves to others & what they have to find our happiness we will constantly be disappointed. Worldly things will always leave you needing/ wanting more. This works does not satisfy. BUT JESUS DOES 💕. God has called us to love our neighbors, not envy them. God has called us to love ourselves and the bodies & things he has blessed us with. God has called us to turn away from worldly things, and look to him for our happiness. He is the only one who can satisfy. So stop looking at the people around you, and wanting what they have. Even if you had what they have, you would still eventually be left looking for more, and comparing yourself again. Instead, look to Jesus for your satisfaction. He is the only one who won’t disappoint you(➕❤️)

Are you waiting for the right time? Guess what.. it will never come. It never did for me. I used to say I’ll start Monday ALL THE TIME. The funniest part about it too is I would eat EVERYTHING the weekend before that “Monday” because I told myself I needed to get all my cravings out of the way so I could start strong. LOL, this happened so many times. Like y’all, probably 4-5 weeks in a row I would say this to myself, and do this. Something always happened that Monday, or that Tuesday that brought me off track, or even prevented me to start reaching my goals. .

I had to come to a hard truth that the right time was never going to just conveniently come. NO, instead I was going to have to work for my goals even if it meant going around obstacles and sacrifice. .
.
I started my fitness journey and have been able to continue it as a full time student who commutes over an hour to school everyday, as a girl who works 3 jobs, has a boyfriend who is long distance, and who serves in her college ministry weekly. Trust me, I have every reason to say “it’s just not the right time” for fitness. But I was fed up with wanting and wanting, but never wanting it bad enough to fight through the hard times. I decided that it would never be the right time, and if I wanted to reach my goals I had to work hard even when it wasn’t easy or convenient. .

That’s what it takes to reach your goals! Hard work, even when it’s not convenient. So here’s my challenge for you. Stop waiting for the “right” time and instead decide if you want it bad enough and make it work.

In honor of small business Saturday I just have to give a little shoutout to myself, and everyone that supports me. .

A lot of people may not realize this, but health & fitness coaching has brought so much freedom to my life. Not only in my mentality or confidence in myself, but even in my finances. Being a coach has allowed me to go PRN at my job as a certified nursing assistant where I was having to drive over an hour just to get to work. Becoming a coach has allowed me to not miss a single car payment, and has even allowed me to start paying my own medical bills. .

A lot of people may not realize this, but health & fitness coaching has brought so much freedom to my life. Not only in my mentality or confidence in myself, but even in my finances. Being a coach has allowed me to go PRN at my job as a certified nursing assistant where I was having to drive over an hour just to get to work. Becoming a coach has allowed me to not miss a single car payment, and has even allowed me to start paying my own medical bills. . . It’s not all about finances but I do know that it’s a bonus. I’m thankful for this little business that has given me a side income, mental freedom, and so many new friends! If you ever have any questions I’d love to answer them. Have you ever found yourself a week, or maybe a month deep into skipping workouts and eating like crap and you just can’t figure out how to get back into your old routine? You miss eating healthy, and working out but you can’t figure out how to find the time or motivation to start back. .

Maybe you’ve always admired fitness or a healthy diet but you just don’t know where to start, or how to motivate yourself? .

Here are my top tips for getting back on track with your health & fitness. .
1️⃣ PLAN. Plan your workout, and write it down. Don’t mark it off your mirror or white board until it’s done. .

2️⃣ BE REALISTIC. You can’t accomplish the world in a day honey. Be realistic... get 3 workouts in for the week, and eat 3 healthy meals. Then the next week do 4 of each. Gradually move back into things! .

3️⃣ Lay out your outfit. Every girl loves a cute workout outfit right? Lay it out, or hang it on your door. That way when you wake up you see it & are reminded that you are putting that on today and getting your crap done. .

4️⃣ REWARD YOURSELF. Use your favorite hobbies as a reward. Are you a Netflix watcher? Don’t turn on that show until the workout is done. Once you complete it enjoy all the Netflix you want. You’ll feel much better about your couch time I promise! .

He sent his son to die on a cross for you, so you may put your faith in him and have eternal life. I know you can be thankful today for that because Gods extends to all. .
