The “proprietary” Specialized Brain shock on my Epic collapsed, losing beginning stroke compression damping and wouldn’t rebound the full way. It also started leaking oil down the frame and i thought this bikes days were done as there are no replacements. After lots of internet searching and thinking, i decided to put a new Fox Factory DPS shock on it with shorter i2i by 3mm and I’ve also put one offset bushing on it to slacken it more. After the first test the bike rides better than ever. Angles feel much better and, whilst the shock needs a compression circuit re-tune as it’s running a bit hard, it can handle the big hits and with absolutely no sticktion it’s already a great upgrade. It’s saved the bike 🙌🏽 hell yea to fiddling with bike stuff. 🔨🛠
If you’ve got the same bike and want to do the same holla at me. .
Utah is an awesome place to ride. The terrain is unlike anything I’ve rode and racing 50 miles blind over it was the best way to experience it. So pumped about my trusty 2012 SW Epic holding up to everything i through at it. What a weapon. ⚔️⚒
