Photographing a factory in Booysens reserve Johannesburg. It is currently in bad shape but is being restored and will soon be used to manufacture beautiful chairs. #factory #pinup #window #wall #distressed #johannesburg
A have a list, a long list, of things that I am not. On that list is wildlife photographer. A shame really because I live in wildlife photography head quarters. This image from a brief visit to Mokala nature reserve i couldn’t resist. I have loved giraffe since I was a child. Such elegant gentle animals. So graceful. #gamereserve #giraffe #wildlife #wildlifephotography #reflections #blackandwhitephoto

Karoo rugby field. A hard game to play in the Karoo. Not much grass in that ground. #rugby #rugbyfield #rugbyunion #karoo #sport
The Zulu memorial on the the other side of the river from the Voortrekker memorial at Blood river. I thought it to be a very sad place. Each shield represents a Zulu regiment and unfortunately not even all the names of these regiments have been preserved. People and culture forgotten. #Zulu #zulumonument #monument #memorial #bloodriver #battlefield #shields

An old image but a favourite. I grew up near here. The Blood River battle site. Where acrimony continues between the Voortrekker monument on one side of the river and the Zulu monument on the other. A river that is now a bone dry dusty gouge in the landscape. #monument #wagon #zulu #voortrekker. #lager #battlesight #landscape.

Gorgeous clouds over these rock formations. I wonder how people will recognize this location. Its on the border with South Africa. Actually ib the tiny mountain kingdom of Lesotho. A national park called Sethlabathebe. When I was last there access was 4X4 only. camp next to a river. No electricity, shops taps, toilets or anything else for hours and hours. Paradise on earth. #rocks #clouds #stormclouds #lesotho #landscape #landscapephotography #landscapelover

Holy Mt Kailash. Source of the Indus, Brahmaputra, Sutlej and Ghaghara rivers. Sacred to Bon, Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. I did a very good three day trek around this peak in July. #blackandwhitephoto #blackandwhite #landscapephotography #landscape #himalayas #mountains
A barrier to inhibit wind erosion on the arid Tibetan plateau. I was a bit surprised at how dry parts ofTibet are. #landscape #landscapephotography #blackandwhitephoto #blackandwhite #mountains #tibet
A peak on the Mt Kailash pilgrimage in western Tibet. I didn’t know you could get so cold in the middle of summer. #blackandwhitephoto #blackandwhite #landscape #mountains #peaks #clouds #himalayas
Approach to Everest Base Camp from the Tibetan Chinese side. Mid summer but a sombre day. I have read so much and dreamt so frequently about this legendary peak that I had goose flesh for minutes at a time when I was there. I chose this image because I like the way Everest hides in its pristine whiteness among the dark gravels. #everest #everestbasecamp #blackandwhitephoto #blackandwhite #mountains #clouds #landscapephotography #landscape #river #snow
I have spent hours watching the light change over the high peaks of the Drakensberg. #blackandwhitephoto #mountains #landscapephotography #landscape #clouds
Dramatic windy day at Cape point. Looking out across False bay. #blackandwhitephoto #seascape #clouds #landscape
Ice cold starry winter night. Monks Cowl looming over us. One of my favourite places on the planet. #blackandwhitephoto #night #mountains #stars #landscape #landscapephotography
Waited for hours on this Karoo farm waiting for the shadows to creep behind the dead tree. Not a sound, perfectly still. A special occasion. #blackandwhitephoto #landscape #tree #landscapephotography
Early morning, white with a hard frost and misty. Somewhere between Vryheid and Dundee. All I could think of was coffee. #blackandwhitephoto #landscapephotography #tree #mist
A Quiver tree on the side of the road on the way to Aix Aix Namibia. Hot and hard environment with a brutal beauty. #landscapephotography #blackandwhitephoto #tree #desert.
Stopped to photograph an informal settlement that was drying grapes in the sun to produce raisins. The grapes are irrigated with water from the Orange river. The children dashed out to pose for me in temperatures above 45C. Life is hard in the Namib. #desert #heat #children #nama #socialdocumentaryphotography
