Let me tell you there was no going home or ”I’ll just have a little” when the berry season hit this summer...⚡️🍓🍒 .
This box right here is better than any box with a 💍 hidden in it. You can steal a girl’s heart with a diamond ring but with me just ditch the #diamondsareforever and make me the happiest gal with a simple thing — like a box filled with all the berries. I’ll act surprised when I see you open the box and you’ll witness something called pure happiness as I cozy up with these little, TRUE gems... 🙈🍓
Now it’s your turn to share: What is one little thing in life you’re appreciative of today?✨
The past month you have been showering me with warmth and sunshine — amongst other things. And for this I feel extremely lucky. Having the chance of a lifetime to spend a year with you feels nothing less than amazing.
You have proven me that life ought to be taken more lightly; that in fact, you can take impromptu actions, live a little and have coffee (or wine) dates with a new friend; or alone. It is the alone time I value so much; listening to my mind, my needs and being up-front with myself.
As John D. Rockefeller once said “Don't be afraid to give up the good to go for the great”. Learning about myself: this is my time for growth, self-development and love.
Thank you Barcelona for offering the best atmosphere I need in order to succeed in this. I am eagerly waiting for the next months I get to spend with you.
Yours truly, Mariam
Embrace your so-called flaws, and the more you can do it the more you'll be comfortable with yourself. It's often easier said than done, but many people start to love their appearance as they get older.
Everyone has something they don't like about themselves. But that "flaw" is often what makes them interesting, unique and lovely; right? Why not cherish your own so-called ”flaw”? 💫 I definitely need to work on this!
Hope you have an amazing Saturday! 💛✨
Armenia stories pt 3 💭✨ #TravelWithMariam
Daily taxi drives and chats with the world’s friendliest and sweetest taxi drivers. You’ll see a lot of elderly men driving taxis and sharing their life experiences and stories with you, giving you advice and having the best attitude e v e r. I always leave them a little extra when leaving the taxi; drivers thank you with tears filled in their eyes.
Public transportation in Armenia has remained extremely cheap over the years. Going to lake Secan (approximately an hour drive from the capital Yerevan) will cost you around 4€. You’ll more likely get an even better deal if you take the same taxi back. Just talk to the driver and see what he suggests. 💭🚕 #DuProblemChunes
WHICH ONE? Piling sweet OR savoury toppings on your #toasts ? 👀💭 As much as I love my salt (ehem, don’t be surprised if you see a jar of salt inside my purse #notevenjoking ), I’d have to go with sweet toasts! Before moving to Barcelona I just had discovered the new Alpro soy yogurt flavours; mango and apple ❣️✨ I’m actually quite sad that I can’t find plant based yogurts in Barcelona as easily as I could in Finland! I really need to do the search in order to score over here. Finland is like heaven when you look at the variety - also prices. So many amazing options and the fact that most are local brands is a huge bonus.
BY THE WAY! In case you’ve totes missed my FREE RECIPE EBOOK - the link is in my bio! 👉🏼 You’ll also find the recipe to this delish coconut flour bread on the blog as well ✨ #EatWithMariam
Being comfortable with yourself means not comparing yourself to others, and feeling okay with the choices you make in life. Accepting how you look, having a good self-esteem and liking where you're at in life. 💭
One way to figure out who you really are is by doing things that make you happy. If you want to sit at home and knit, then by all means do so! When you start focusing on what you like to do, you'll get that sense of authenticity.
And remember. Don't let other people put you down for the things that make you unique. If we all were the same, the world would be a pretty dull place - correct?✨ #ThursdayThoughts
Coffee with Mariam presents Ida @idaginman 💕💭✨ #CoffeeWithMariam#newblogpost
Meet Ida, a 23-year-young creative graphic design student, lettering artist, fika & vegan food lover originally from Finland but currently living in Malmö, Sweden.
She has just launched her very own sustainable print brand called Kinder Prints. All prints are printed on 100 % recycled paper in small batches in her home town of Malmö and even picked up by herself by bike!
When I asked her about her failures she said she doesn’t think failures as failures, and I quote; They are just bumps in life that shapes us to who we are and that help us appreciate the good things in life.
I was sold at that moment.
Go get inspired by this beautiful, positive soul and let her blog guide you to think and act more consciously and sustainably.

Some Saturday morning thoughts, this time about seasonal & local produce... 💭✨
Perhaps the biggest benefit of eating seasonally is quite obvious- saving money. When you buy what's in season, you buy food that's at the peak of its supply, and costs less to farmers and distribution companies to get to the grocery store. .
I say the one of the best consequence of eating seasonally is that you get the best tasting food that you’ll get at that time 🙏🏼 The cost of seasonal food is low yet the quality is usually great- the food is (usually!) grown closer so it doesn't get bad on its way, it's harvested in its season and sold during its season. The fruits and veggies haven't had time to lose their flavour or their health benefits by taking the trip across the world. But just because you buy seasonal doesn't mean that a food distribution company won't harvest early and keep your food in a warehouse for a while. You'll definitely get better food for less money, but there's no guarantee you'll get food at the peak of freshness or nutrition 😕 .
Hence I’m trying to incorporate more local produce which also supports the local economy. The money that is spent with local farmers and growers is usually reinvested with businesses and services in your community. By purchasing locally grown foods you help maintain farmland. Food grown in more further locations has the potential for food safety issues like harvesting, shipping and distribution. .
Local diets not only give us the opportunity to know where our food was produced but to meet the people who grew or made it 💛 It’s a food system where everyone takes responsibility- including the consumers.
Do you think about these issues while food shopping? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic! 💫
I must confess... 💭💛✨
I am madly in love with mangoes!! I haven’t had juicier ones than here in Spain. The ones you can peel just with your fingers and eat as is. Anything mango related = bring it on. ⚡️
So what to do when you have a tub of new @alpro mango soy yogurt? Make a triple-layer brekkie jar, of course. .
1st layer (bottom) = mix coconut milk + chia seeds and let sit in fridge overnight
2nd layer = blend fresh mango + @alpro mango soy yogurt
3rd layer (top) = blend @alpro mango soy yogurt + fresh mango and mix with oats, let batter sit in fridge overnight
Toppings: crushed pecans, crushed @makrobios_hyvinvointitukku coconut chips and fresh sliced peach 🍑 ⚡️💭
Armenia stories pt 2 ✨💭 #TravelWithMariam .
One too many americanos outside and Armenian ☕️ at home... Not forgetting the 🍷 and 🥃. Yerevan has plenty outdoor cafés. And by plenty I mean A LOT. I think many are surprised to see this. Not far from Paris or Rome actually! .
In bars and pubs you’ll be able to order proper food too, if you want. From the regular pizza and pasta to seasonal fresh fruit platters and cheese. Sounds pretty nice, huh? 🙋🏻♀️ Armenians are into their food and we take it very seriously. Armenians won’t leave you hungry- in fact you won’t leave before you’re stuffed to the max... 🙈
A plant heaven / café that stole my heart 🌿🌵🌻 #BarcelonaWithMariam
Espai Joliu, located in Poblenou, is a mix of plantery, vintage and café - all in one and perfectly combined. With a calm and effortless ambiance, it’s the perfect escape shelter if it happens to rain. I can see myself sitting there with my ☕️ and 💻 all day long... .
I ordered a flat white with oat milk which was extremely tasty (kudos @nomadcoffee I l o v e d it! ☕️) and a vegan date, raw chocolate and almond cookie. I need to go there for their other lovely treats and 🥑-toasts... Who’s with me? ✨ .
Have a terrific Friday friends! 💛⚡️
Barcelona days have begun muy bien ✨💭 #BarcelonaWithMariam
Living in a culture that is different than one’s own is an exciting adventure and a challenging process; it’s called a cultural adjustment. Moving to another culture I carry my own background and experiences with me, which shape how I perceive and adjust to the new environment.
However, I must admit getting accustomed to the Spanish ways has been relatively easy and familiar to me (for now 👀) And why, you ask? Because I find a resemblance between Spaniards and Armenians, and it really warms my heart 😬⚡️
Family values, social norms and traditions are quite similar to those in Armenia. Also the shops, kiosks and overall ”chill” attitude towards life; enjoying life in the moment. I was so amused to see elderly men playing backgammon in a park- JUST like in Armenia. For these reasons, creating my home away from home has started pretty smoothly 💛 #TravelWithMariam
Happy Thursday peeps! 🙏🏼
I’M MOVING TO BARCELONA -kind of extra sweet dessert 💕✨💭 Yes peeps; in case you missed out the news I shared on the blog and on my previous post! .
Before I bombard with Spain stories and posts, let me share you this beauty of a dessert, which in fact has plenty of good stuff, and is quite healthy 🤩 #EatWithMariam#GreenStreetCakeLover
A base of a chia pudding made of @kaslink.aito oat-blueberry drink (amazing! 🤚🏼) and chia seeds mixed together which I let sit overnight in the fridge. Topped this delight with RAW CAKE - yes you heard me right. And not just any raw cake- the one and only, and my fave from @greenstreet.fi called unbeetable ⚡️ It has a layer of beetroot (!), ginger and raw chocolate 🍫. The base is very crunchy and thin, not overpowering at all. I thinly sliced a few slices of the raw cake and sprinkled the base on top, as well as added some toasted coconut chips. .
This was a sweet treat 😛💕✨ .
I’m off to the airport soon... 🙋🏻♀️💭 Happy Saturday!
Hey fellas 💭✨ This is to any of you thinking that it’s ’too late’ to go for your dreams, to take the leap and go for an adventure = my thoughts exactly a year ago. And where are my thoughts now?
I’ve always wanted to live abroad. I missed my chance taking a year off after high school, or taking an exchange student program when in pharmacy school and business school. Yeah, I’ve had my chances, but didn’t take them. Why? Because I wanted to move faster and just be ready and graduate as fast as possible. At that time, it felt like a more logical option and frankly I didn’t listen to the heart as much as I do today. .
Years later the thoughts of missing my chances have been very present: ”I can’t go for it now since I’m supposed to be a grown-up working person. I’m not 20 for God’s sake!”. Well here’s a deal breaker: we’re never too old (...and don’t you dare judge me calling myself old. I know I’m young but still; I’m 10 years older than the 16 yo’s 🙃). .
You know you’ll regret if you don’t give it a try. Moving abroad will test my confidence and patience. Challenging ourselves is a great boost to self-confidence and independence. I LOVE multicultural environments so moving abroad to study at a multicultural university is something I greatly wait for. I will come across so many different cultures and traditions; embracing cultures, asking questions and appreciating the new ways of life ⚡️ I’m excited to meet new people to laugh, learn and travel with, to engage in conversations I’d never have back at home, and, bond over the experience of living in a new country.
The new life will open up my eyes and raise questions about things I never thought that much about before. Moving to Barcelona, pursuing my dreams of living abroad and continuing studying something I’m quite passionate about - and finally - hopefully - finding my place in this wonderful, precious world of ours - happy and content 💭
Don’t forget to dream, and most importantly; DO! ✨ #ihavespoken .
1, 2 or 3? 😛 #ToastTuesday#EatWithMariam
How has your Tuesday been so far? 💭 And mine, you ask? Well, still sick unfortunately. One tough flu I’ve got, let me tell you. But (!) luckily feeling SO much better and I have a lot more energy than I had just a few days ago 🙋🏻♀️✨ Appreciating my wellbeing and health a tad more once again 💛 Nothing more important than health- a living, breathing, moving body.
PS You’ll find the recipe for the coconut flour bread in my blog! ⚡️
