I made a sakura pancake 🌸💕 I bought the cherry blossoms on my last trip to Japan, not knowing they are actually pickled and salted (they're called Okazuke 🌸). I was surprised about it at first but they match perfectly to cakes and cookies. Let's see what other things I can create with them 😍🎶
Today I made lunch with Kouya Tofu (dried Tofu) and Kanpyou (marinated pumpkin). I simmered the Kouya Tofu in a broth to make it soft and then I fried it in the pan. It has an interesting texture - almost like meat. The Kanpyou tastes very sweet from the marinade - but not like pumpkin at all. It's perfect for Sushi rolls.
I always thought that Mapo Tofu is silk tofu with curry sauce 😅 Well I found out it isn't, but my version taste actually really good! 😋 I use store-bought sauce because I just can't reproduce the taste of it and it tastes very good 😅
My meal prep for this week 😋🍴. It's the fanciest one I have done so far 😅. It looks like a lot of food but it's for 5 days.
💙 Breakfast: miso soup with tofu and rice
💚 Lunch: ramen noodles, lotus root, edamame, hijiki salad, candied sardines
💛 Dessert: quark with cookie bits
💜 Dinner: tomato soup with carrots, peas and sausage
I made meatballs glazed with a sweet soy sauce, with rice and soy beans 😋🍴🍻 I ran out of sticky rice from the asian store so I tried milk rice from the german supermarket. Turns out that milk rice is indeed just normal sticky rice 😅 #japanesecooking#japanesefood#soybeans#edamame
I had some left over radish so I grated it and tried to make Daikon Mochi / Daikonchi 😋🎵 It's basically just grated radish with corn starch, but I put way too much starch in it because the dough was so liquid and I didn't knew it would get firm when fried 😅 But it was still tasty 🍴
Tried to make a Matcha parfait... but it's more difficult than I thought! 💚 The home-made matcha ice cream turned out too hard (I don't have an ice cream machine 😅), I put too much sugar in all the recipes and I realized I don't own a parfait glass 😅 But it still tasted great after all 💚 I made Matcha ice cream, cake, shiratama dango (small mochi balls) and warabi mochi (jelly-like mochi) ❤😋 I also used special Matcha for baking&cooking, it has a stronger flavour and makes everything taste more Matcha-intense 😍
Tomato rice - quick and easy lunch 🍅😋 I bought this seasoning mix in Japan but tbh you can also just use ketchup 😂. You make it with scrambled egg + rice + ketchup + whatever you like (I added fresh tomato). It's actually called chicken rice but I eat it without chicken meat 😅 #食#チキンライス#トマトライス#japanesecooking#japanesefood
I tried the new recipe by @ochikeron : Imo Mochi / Hokkaido Mochi 💛 It's made from potato and starch instead of rice flour and of course it tastes very different, like potato dumplings with a very sweet soy sauce. I think it's supposed to be candy but I ate it like normal potato dumplings 😂. Maybe you shouldn't because of the sugar in the sauce 🤔 I also drunk Gyokuro (japanese green tea) with it 💚 #食#いももち#japanesecooking#japanesefood
A fellow student from my Koto class was so lovely and brought her home-grown Sansho (japanese pepper) for everyone 😊🍴 She recommended to eat it with cheese, so I paired it with camenbert 🧀 Veeery delicious 💚 Sansho has a flavor like peppercorns and lemon grass. #食#japanesecooking#japanesefood#sansho#山椒
