Doing my best to stay chill/warm up. Today’s #mybigbluevelvetchair mug is by @jenniethepotter, one of several sweet gifts she gave me in thanks for working her booth at Stitches West before I moved back to Seattle. I love the birch tree motif so, so much. #automneestarrivé18
IT TAKES A VILLAGE and here are some fun squares of colors made with these weird pigment-dye-fairy floss dust. Yesterday (and the preceding weeks?) destroyed me, I want to smash and burn every emergency room folding chair, glad though I am that J got to come home instead of being admitted. This morning @qwickening took me to Disneyla—I mean @danielsmithartistsmaterials and I made this mess at the testing table. Make art and drink coffee and heal our hearts together: the best start to a day. I am so, so grateful for my village, for my family, for all of you. #maggipaints
“Were you in the Navy?” “Coast Guard, 8 years.” No one coils lines like a sailor, especially a sailor turned RN. Grateful once again for competent care and excellent insurance coverage but at the same time getting really, really sick of the E.R. and hospital.
Gotta be honest, y’all. These have been some DIFFICULT days, even when there’s good news (not mine to share) and blue skies. J’s recovery has not been as easy as with the first pulmonary embolism, which is taxing enough, but I’ve also had one too many encounters with shitty people, and it’s tough to bounce back from that when my emotional reserves are already low. Makes me especially grateful for all the good in my life: my love, my incredibly supportive social-emotional safety net, my sweet pupper. I can handle anything when I’ve got all that going for me. ❤️ #predictablemaggi#predictablerusty#tellthetruthstagram#letvulnerabilitybeastrength#cultivateasoftbelly#kindcornersoftheinternet
Mom found her home ec notebook from 1964 and it is a goddamned delight. My favorite page is obviously THE ROMANCE OF CHEESE 🧀 😍 but SQUARE DOGS is a close second. #1960sfood#theromanceofcheese#squaredogs (I would like to have a word with the education professionals who thought 12 and 13 year old girls’ education should emphasize their obvious futures as wives and mothers, my god)
