"Mathematical study and research are very suggestive of mountaineering. Whymper made several efforts before he climbed the Matterhorn in the 1860's and even then it cost the life of four of his party. Now, however, any tourist can be hauled up for a small cost, and perhaps does not appreciate the difficulty of the original ascent. So in mathematics, it may be found hard to realise the great initial difficulty of making a little step which now seems so natural and obvious, and it may not be surprising if such a step has been found and lost again." - Louis J. Mordell
This famous summit has many names, so funny! French people know it as Cervin, italian people as Cervino, many people know it as Matterhorn but I guess the most of people know it as the summit from on toblerone chocolate 😁. This pyramidal peak has 4478m elevation and it's one of the most famous attraction from the Alps.
This beautiful sunset was during last night that we spent at Domhutte.
Say Hello to my team!
I know I'm a girl and girls have friends girls but I'm lucky to be in a men team. In this case I need to work much more to be at their level. But I always wanted to progress in everything I do, so it's a pleasure to learn!
The Dom summit "Dom des Mischabel", at his 4545m high, is particular. The place is so small that you can share it with maximum 4 persons. Once I arrived there, I sit myself on a small rock, and I didn't move. I was so scared about the slope of the summit, that I even took a picture! I definetily stayed immovable for those 15min on the summit.
I was lucky to have a gopro on my friend's climb helmet and we've get the photos from the videos. 😁
So as you can see, there you can only pray for your life and your soul! ⛏
Dom (Dom des Mischabel) is the highest summit lying entirely in Swiss. At his 4545m, dome means "Cathedral", and the 3rd massif of Alps after the famous Mont Blanc (1st massif) and Mont Rose (2nd massif). I speak about massifs, not summits.
The Dome was one of the most beautiful summit I've ever seen! The view out there, is out of space; you can see the 2 summits I mentioned before and also the famous Matterhorn.
Who knows the name of the summit on the left?
It's funny because some people know it as "Cervin", others as "Matterhorn" but most of all as "Toblerone" 😁
Which one do you prefer?? #matterhorn#cervin#alpinism#feelfree
After I finish my homework concerning the technical difficulties of the route I start preparing my equipment. It is so important to choose the best equipment for your expedition. When you climb high mountains, the weather is unpredictable so it is a must to have the "right" accessories. How do you prepare yourself?
At demands I can write a list of my equipment, and I can give you suggestions about "how to choose your equipment ". #alpine#alpinism#zermatt#swiss#photooftheday
Why I love mountains? Because they are massive, the walls are so huge compared to humans.
Why in the photos mountains seem small? Because there is no nature scale inside the picture. But if I put humans in my mountain photography, I'll have a scale to relate the nature dimensions at the human size. For example the ice cliff.... in picture it looks to have 1-2m when in real could reach 10-20m...
Isn't that impressive?
After have climbed the Festijoch wall saying Hi to my guide! The Festijoch wall with 70m height, easy to climb, offers a great view to Weisshorn and Matterhorn. Because the ascent on the summit takes 7-8h, 1500m+ elevation, it is recommended to start the ascent at 2am. You arrive at Festijoch at 6am, the perfect time for the sunrise (the ascent is recommended in June). The proof is this photo: climb harder for a better view!
