One thing that’s definitely caught me off guard about #mumlife are those days when you physically and mentally have ZERO energy but still have to mum! When you’ve woken up at 4am to the baby and at 4pm your toddler is still cutting laps 😐 I wouldn’t trade it for the world, but I think back to those days when I’d say to someone “I’m so tired” and want to slap myself. Sorry for the InstaStory spam. Closest thing I’ve had to an adult conversation today... talking to my phone! Ps: thank god for baby carriers. This one is breathable mesh which is so good for these hot afternoons and I just throw a bamboo swaddle around Fin’s legs to protect them from the sun ... and then we run after Kit 🤷♀️

I haven’t said much about my birth but it was a challenging one; Fin got stuck during a cesarean and after a vacuum and then forceps failed to get him out, he required my abdominal muscles to be cut with scissors 2cms. Post birth I was left with a 6cm gap between my transverse abdominal muscles, and connective tissue that was so damaged when I touched my tummy my fingers would sink into my insides. So at 7wks postpartum the journey begins to bring my core back together. With the help of a physio my #diastasisrecti has already closed to just over 2cm so I’m feeling much less glum! I couldn’t care what I look like at the moment, or about #absafterbabies or any of that jazz - I just want to be back in the ocean and able to surf which I was already doing by this stage post Kit! Oh and also it would be nice to have the muscles that hold your organs in and stabilise your pelvis back together again haha I guess the reason for this post is just to acknowledge CHILDBIRTH IS REAL! Respect to all women and their bodies! I’m going to keep turning on my core, and encouraging it to strengthen while holding these little 3kilos weights, as much as I can!
