Show of hands: 🙋‍♀️ Who else is baking today? I thought it a great time to share some baking tips that I’ve learned throughout the years, and I’d love to hear yours!

1. Pound cakes go into a cold (unpreheated oven). It makes for a slower rise, which yields a denser, more melt-in-your-mouth texture.

2. Even if the recipe doesn’t call for it, vanilla extract is always a good idea (and it makes baked goods taste less eggy). 3. Butter and eggs should always be at room temperature.

4. Set your timer for ten minutes earlier than the recommended time. You can always bake longer, but you can never unbake.

5. Beat the butter and sugar until it’s light and fluffy, and then beat it for five more minutes. It should be pale yellow and completely incorporated before adding the other ingredients.

Where else can you sip on @glenfiddichwhisky and Champagne while feasting on oysters from chefs and restaurants all over the Gulf Coast (and beyond), including our @the_noble_south, Dothan’s @eatkbc, Montgomery’s @vintageyearmgm (pictured), and Auburn’s @acrerestaurant? The innovation and culinary talent displayed by every single chef in attendance was astounding. 
Yesterday afternoon at the Barkley House in @visitpensacola was one for the ages. I’ll be there in 2019 (and every year after), and I hope you will join me. #clpicks
