The beet is an antioxidant-rich vegetable that naturally contains nitrates that increase nitric oxide in the body. This may increase muscle pump during exercise, endurance and performance.

I love the entire process of getting ready for a competition, but I am definitely more comfortable with the athletic/fitness part of competing. I've always been an athlete & even played softball in college for a year so working out & being competitive is a part of who I am. The stage side of competing was what I was always nervous about because doing a routine in front of a crowd was completely new to me. At #npcuniverse2018 I felt so comfortable on stage during my routine & during 1st callouts. I was still nervous about my posing & never thought I was good at it but I was so happy with the routine I did on stage! Definitely starting to build confidence and I can't wait to do another competition😊

Also, I have to give a shout out to Paige from @knotinpain for the massagee/work she did on my shoulder to even out my dipped shoulder. They look almost completely even on my back pose! You can find her at @bigtexgym 😁

One week post show check in! After all of those cheats, my weight is actually down from the last time I checked in before my show! I planned a trip to NYC for 3 days after my show and took a complete diet/tracking break for 4 days. Definitely feeling refreshed and happy to be back to my usual routine!

So how did I not gain any weight from all of my cheats?! I walked everywhere and still did cardio/worked out. @dirk._.steiger probably walked 16 miles in NYC in the two days that we were there😅

It seems like most people that have bad rebounds after shows completely stop doing cardio, take a gym break, AND eat everything they've been craving for months. There is nothing wrong with having cheats after a competiton, BUT when you stop doing cardio (burning calories) and eat at a surplus, you are going to gain weight and pretty quickly if it goes on for more than a few days. -
Tips to prevent a bad rebound:
1. Keep doing your cardio if you plan on cheating for a few days
2. Only cheat for a couple of days & then get back to your pre peak week diet and have a reverse diet planned out 
3. Don't snack throughout the day just because you can/want to at the moment. The calories will add up so just plan one or two small cheats per week instead of snacking everyday.

Another tip to keep things in perspective:
If you cheat for a couple days after a show, don't weigh yourself until you have been back on your usual meal plan for 3-4 days! Cheat foods are high in sodium, carbs, and sugar which will cause you to bloat like crazy depending on how you depleted for a show. Give your body time to adjust to your normal meal plan before stepping on the scale & potentially being disappointed by the number you see! I had cheats Saturday-Wednesday and weighed myself Sunday. I was super bloated and puffy early on in the week so I guarantee if I had weighed myself a few days sooner I would have been very unhappy with the number on the scale.

"Proud but never satisfied" is a perfect quote for this show. I always train to win so I'm not satisfied with 4th place, but this was only my 3rd competition so placing 4th at nationals is definitely something I am incredibly proud of! More motivated than ever to keep training hard and pushing myself until I get my pro card😁

The Hurricane Orange that I'm tossing in the air is seriously so good!! I hate when things taste sour/artificial and this is totally smooth and has a subtle orange flavor👍Probably the best tasting pre workout that I've tried! You'll also notice the color is red because of the beetroot and 0 artificial colors👌
